Driving Force Pro paddle shifting issue GT3

Just started replaying GT3 with my DFP wheel. When in Manual mode, my Shift up is often not sequential. In other words Im in 1st gear, hit paddle shift up and it goes to 3rd or 4th. Downshifting thru the paddle seems normal. Any ideas? Im consciously not double shifting. I also have a 2nd DFP Ill try to see if same issue persists. Its been so long, I cant recall if this was a problem I experienced back in the day I first played GT3.

Update
I found the tactile switch and ordered a new one.
Had to take apart the steering wheel, which essentially mangled the GT emblem in the center to get to the screws, which is only on there with double-sided tape.
The old one will have to be de-soldered. Doesn’t look like a difficult job.
But while I had it exposed, I blew some canned air under and around the switch and sprayed it with some contact cleaner. That actually seemed to improve it if not remedy it entirely.
