My nomination for the next two weeks!!!

Nissan 300ZX 2seater (Z32) '89

That sucker is hard to drift...All it does is want to grip...I did a grip car with it...and it understeers heavily...But yeah, I want this for my drift nomination these 2 weeks :)

Isn't that the FR Skyline, how could you not drift that? Go to the drift settings depot...look for DT_C's settings for it...I tried them before...and they work.

Ok well I love how this car looks and since it's a pretty hard one it could become as interesting as the Nismo settings:sly:

Jaguar S-Type R ('02)

I really like this car and would really like to find "the perfect settings" ;)
It has this very cool gearbox, almost the same as the smooth shifting of some of the new mercs or the Nissan GTR concept!!:D Sounds awsome...
Anyone else votes with me?

I Nominate:

Mitsubishi EVO VIII MR

Reasons: To gain a much broader wealth of knowledge with the All wheel Drive, Drive Train

**AND**, No i wasn't the first to nominate this car.

DRIFTN
I Nominate:

Nissan Skyline COUPE 350GT '03

Reasons: It really Has the same kind of issues as the Z-Tune 350Z, it suffers from understeer. Just something fun, and a bit of a challenge.

I think you mean the Infiniti G35 Coupe... The only Skylines (of that chassis) in the game are sedans...

I haven't found the car to suffer from understeer, myself... It's incredibly easy to drift, in my opinion...

;)

Doesn't seem like anyone is gonna vote the same car. We all got our own wishes:P If someone would just back up ONE jaguar EHGGG correct: nomination, we got a winner already....;)

There is a Nissan Skyline GT350 coupe in the PAL version of the game at least... and it's definitely not as immediately easy to drift as the sedan for some reason. It's not that bad though, and mine has the stiffening option which isn't such a good idea always.

At least the car does exist ;)

Oh btw.. I'm hereby changing my entry to the
Mitsubishi Evo VIII MR 280

Ahh, I didn't realise that... I have to disagree with the handling characteristics though... I have never had a single problem with the coupe... I enjoy drifting it quite a bit more than thre sedan... I think most people are having problem with the understeer... I tend to use the understeer to my advantage, so that's probably why I don't have any problems with it...

Ughhh... White spoiler on a blue car???... Those rims too???... Sorry, I had to say it... Just giving you a hard time...

I'll second your nomination...

Evo VIII MR

I want it to drift well so badly, but I just can't find the right balance...

Ummm... it felt right at the time :dunce:

Got any better suggestions? i don't think it's that bad, in a semi race car-y way...

My favorite car :)
I've got a great set up for this car but I'm finalizing these settings.

I'll show you a clip once I get my sony gigapocket set up :)

I'm going to third it. I desperately want to learn how to drift AWD's, but I get very frustrated whenever I attempt to. Having one as a topic car will be greater incentive to really sit down and figure one out. Between the bunch of us we must be able to find some combination of settings that works and that can also be adapted to other AWD's as well.

Nomination: Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII MR GSR ('04)

now about that skyline pic... I guess if you really need to put a spoiler on it, the white is better than the black or grey on that car. But if I were going to get rims to match it I would have gone for some with a blue hub center or blue lip instead of the red.

Naw... A black spoiler makes a lot more sense... Either way, it looks tacked on, but the black spoiler is more understated... I just don't like the rims... My style is more understated in general, so maybe I'm just biased...

PAL version = European/Australian ++ version.. we use a different video signal than the US or Far East. We tend to get games developed in Japan or USA a bit later because of the conversion, so some things have changed by then (for some reason)..

I know the PAL release has an easier M34, and some tougher gold license challenges... plus the obviously different car list. Don't ask me why they changed it, maybe to tailor it somewhat to the different publics? I know the difficulty of some RPGs are adjusted for NTSC-US and then for PAL release, but I don't know all the details... bottom line is, JP version is not the same as US version is not the same as EU/AUS version ;)

ekmatt9
What's the PAL Version of GT4??? And how come we don't get (USDM) the Skyline Coupe? of the G35 Look?

hrm... sounds like someone needs to search.....

here, I'll even get you started: Link

Do they retail this car under Skyline badging in the US matt?
nope, I didnt think so either.
Nissan/Infiniti probably requested of PD that the NA NTSC copy of the game have that car badged an Infiniti for marketing reasons. Really doesn't matter though - it's the same car.

Ske, don't forget the Korean and Russian, and Chinese versions of the game (and whatever else there is) - I've heard they have subtle differences as well.

Aslong as you realise im not a phsyco Path who is seeing things, ske is correct the car does exist in the PAL version, as you can see in my "location" status, i live in Australia. The Characteristics seem to be different from your version, and for this reason ill change my vote to the EVO VIII MR also.

I have like "0" knowledge with AWD's, im limited with knowledge all together, so ill just observe this one. But this will give me a reason to practice, and to gain heaps more knowledge.

Of course... for this purpose, I ditched political correctness in favor of simplicity though ;)

Looks like the Evo 8 is running the show at the moment. I'd love to see what you did to it to make it slide, FI... even if it doesn't become the "chosen one" this time. For me, the car just refuses to oversteer. I don't have a lot of experience with AWDs, but compared to Imprezas and Skylines (well..obviously, because of the Atessa) it just grips and grips even on mixed tires :indiff:

This could be a good opportunity to get more experience with AWDs for me too.. the potential of those cars when it comes to innovative drifting is 👍

I'll get a clip in asap. My sony gigapocket tuner isn't responding too well to windows updates. I had to do a vaio recovery...

I'm gonna go ahead and change my vote one last time to the Celica 2000GT-FOUR(ST165)86'

Cool little AWD, slighty old, but could have alot of potential and alot of fun

Updated the list of current nominations for volume 3 in post one of this thread. Now time to do the same in the drift settings depot....

Tri, perhaps I'm just being dense, but could you be a little more clear please.
Are you infact nominating something?

Yes I am
Celica 2000GT-FOUR(ST165)86
Stage 1 turbo, clutch, flywheel
air filter
port polish
to be exact, cuz that's what I got ;)

Oh I gotta say I LOVE that car. I've seen it in the galleries on GTPlanet and it's lovely:drool: I always like unique styles;) But not too fugly at least. This is exactly what I mean with unique;)

ok, only about 2 days left until the next Volume of the DSJ. So far the nominations are still as shown in the first post of the thread. The Evo 8 MR is still leading the Celica rustbucket by 1.

Get your final picks in!

btw - post your opinions on the following suggestion:
Would you prefer that the DSJ have new volumes weekly or biweekly?

To me it makes no difference, but I've recieved comments that some might prefer the installments to come every week. I leave it in your hands. Post your thoughts.

I'd say biweekly. Just because it gives the busy people a chance to experiment before another one is started.

I change my vote to:

Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 VSpec '93 (I think it's called that, I don't quite remember)

I tried overpower the car, doing VCD to the rear, no power to front wheels, but it still is hard to get sideways. Mike Le Chat No in the Team FBI Drift Movie, the group had a red Skyline, and he was drifting it nicely and smoothly...So I want to change my entry...OR if anyone can help me find drift settings for this car??
