DTM vs. JGTC

This forum topic is a long time coming from my many thread ideas I try to post for the public to talk about. This time, I'm going to match up the DTM against the JGTC. Now on one end, you may say that the DTM rule over the GT300 cars. But on another, I kind of think a DTM race car (I hate calling them touring cars because they are much too powerful to be called touring cars, and not even super touring) matched up against a GT500 would be a dead lock. If I'm not mistaken, both types of car are made in Europe. The JGTC is more diverse and has longer races. But DTM cars are excellent racing machines. They may not be Formula One, but these are front-engine/rear driver race cars that can perform as well as anyone. Their aggressive styling makes me think they are like Trans-Am cars. I think DTM race cars increase downforce with all that bodywork and aggressive rear wings. The JGTC are pure racers as well. The horsepower numbers are no higher than 500 in Japan thanks to restrictions. And it was also nice to note that a DTM-style Mercedes competed in the JGTC back in 2002, I think.

So which is better? The German monsters of DTM, or the highly contested JGTC?

I havent watched any JGTC, but DTM these days is boring IMO.

I much preferred the days (circa 6-8yrs ago) when it was 325i's V 190E AMG's V Alfa 155's V Calibra's V A4 Quattro's.

Now is it pretty boring with Opels and Mercs clubbing it out on the track. There is also that boring "V8 Star" series with homologated V8's in various body shapes run in Germany. :snore:

I love to watch DTM,the races are always so close and there is always something going on on the track.JGTC on the other hand is awsome for it´s cars.I just love those cars.If they are limited to 500 HP then they are not much faster then DTM cars wich have around 450 HP.
Anyway,i would pick JGTC.The cars there look much better,there is lots of close racing,Tom Coronel .
It´s a shame that they don´t broadcats those races over here in Europe.

I´d say DTM is better.

But that´s just because they don´t broadcast jgtc here. I´d like to watch JGTC too, just because the cars they use there are mean beasts, even in their stock form.

I like JGTC better mainly becuz of cool crashes in every 5 minutes.
They have more cars GT500 and GT300 included with all kinds of Brands such as Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mclaren, Lambogini, Dodge Viper, Subaru, Mazda, Porsche, Zonda and more..


Their rules and regulation made it even more fun to watch too....I saw 2 Skylines blocking one fast blue Supra and ran him off the road and that is ok.. The 2 skylines went on to win, the Supra manage to get back on the road and took a fourth place wow! A Total Mayhem! alot of crashes... If you win to much u gain weight similar to US GT.

DTM is kinda like F1 if u are a great driver with a good car u most like to win....Better than Nascar

Well thats hard DTM exciting JGTC more cars and better "competion" so i will probably go with the JGTC.
