They're probably doing that to give them as much track time as possible. They wouldn't get a whole lot of rest though.

I'll be watching the whole race. :D You'll find quite a lot of people in here doing the same. This thread will blow up once the race gets a little closer.

Am I the only one looking for the Burj Al Arab in the background... Can it even be seen from the track??

Well it looks like I'll have to put FIM on hold, but I don't mind. The race has a big american presence this year with the drivers, granted not all are notable names but still find that interesting considering its an endurance race outside the US.

Here's a preview from from Speed.

I just realized the race starts on Friday at 2am my time. I didn't even think to take Friday off as I thought it would be over the weekend. :(

Gonna stay up and watch this race! :D

Went to Dubai just 6 weeks ago, and it's such a beautiful place.
Just wish I could have been there and watched the race live. Oh well, the interwebs will do. :dopey:

I should just note that there's a regulation change from last year regarding laptimes. Some of you will remember that last year there were "target laps" - you had a minimum laptime you could run and you were allowed to beat it a set number of times in the race. Go too fast too often and there was a penalty.

This year there are no target laps.

That doesn't necessarily take anything away from the laptimes done so far this year by the GTA guys, but they're going as fast as they can rather than trying to zone the car into a consistent speed bracket.

That's only for the A6 cars. The rest still have to run to the Par Time they set.

The A6 cars get a smaller fuel tank and some extra weight as well.

So... the... what?

Having most of the field bracket racing but one class... not... makes sense to the organisers?

Well, it is their race. They can have any rules they like.

Additionally, if you are not in A6 class and you do a 2:05 time in qualifying you will get the same restriction in fuel tank and weight.
