Duplicates you actually want to see in GT7

Here we are, a topic I've been thinking about for a while given Polyphony’s latest choices in cars for updates and recent backlash. With that in mind, I'd like to ask you guys a simple question: are there duplicates of some kind you genuinely want to see in the game?

Before answering this question, I've divided the concept of duplicates into a few levels for better understanding:

1 - The straight up duplicate: cars will absolutely no difference between each other apart from some very minor aesthetic and mechanical factors.

Examples:
Integra Type R ‘95 and Integra Type R ‘98
Clio R.S. Trophy ‘15 and Clio R.S. Trophy ‘16
GR Supra ‘19 and GR Supra ‘20

2 - The slightly different version duplicate: cars within the same generation in slightly different versions.

Examples:
M3 ‘89 and M3 Sport Evolution ‘89
R32 NISMO ‘90 and R32 V-spec II ‘94
Roadster ND ‘15 and Roadster ND NR-A ‘22

3 - The considerably different version duplicate: cars still within the same generation, but this time with a more “justifiable” difference between each other.

Examples:
S13 Silvia Q’s ‘88 and S13 Silvia K’s ‘90
S14 Silvia K’s ‘94 and S14 Silvia K’s Aero ‘96
22B Impreza ‘98 and Impreza WRX STi ‘99

4 - The facelifted duplicate: this is controversial, a technically different car but with huge similarities between each other.

Examples:
Lancer Evo VIII ‘04 and Lancer Evo IX ‘06
GTR ‘17 and GT-R T-spec ‘24

5 - The different purpose duplicate: an even more controversial one, these are cars from the same model and generation, but for absolutely different purposes.

Examples:
Jimny ‘18 and Jimny Sierra ‘18
Hiace ‘16 and HiMedic ‘21

--

With that said, here are three of some duplicate cars I would actually like to see still in GT7:

Honda NSX Type S Zero ‘97 - The best NSX ever made in my opinion. So much better than the NSX-R ‘92 present in the game.

1000260558.jpg

Mitsubishi GTO Twin Turbo ‘96 - The first facelift of the GTO is by far my favorite one, plus it has the nostalgia factor from the very first GT.

1000260559.jpg

Renault Sport Clio V6 Phase 2 ‘03 - The facelifted Clio V6 never gets enough love and it's absolutely stunning, it's as simple as that.

Now you can post. 😁

I think this belongs in the wishlist thread.
Not quite, it's a very specific topic exclusively to potential duplicates, and I'd like to see people's take on this, as it's a "delicate" subject I must say.

It's a topic quite like the "standard and PS1-era cars you want to see in GT7" and a few others for example. There are dedicated threads and they're still up. This is one of these threads, at least in my point of view.

Dodge Viper RT/10 SR 1, it gets 0 love from any modern video game almost like it never existed past the mid 90s.
the-first-dodge-viper-is-a-brutal-bargain-1476934603110-1000x786.jpg

Dodge Viper GTS SR II 1996, the blue paint jobs and white stripes are iconic and despite from what I can tell being basically the same car as the GTS '02 the '96 one just looks so much cooler.
1996_dodge_viper_1636483101dbfdacc551d4IGP_8622.jpg

Lamborghini Murcielago Gen 1 2001-2006, the LP640 is cool but I would love to have the Gen 1 Murcielago aswell.

Lamborghini Diablo SE30 Jota, the Diablo GT is definitely a cool car but this one is much cooler and even abit faster IIRC, bizarre that this hasn't appeared in any racing games.
Diablo_SE30_Jota.jpg

McLaren F1 LM, basically a unrestricted version of the F1 GTR '95 but much faster and abit of a handful to control from what I believe Gordon Murray stated. Would basically be the 90s version of the Aston Martin Valkyrie, a incredibly OP roadcar for it's time.
800px-McLaren_F1_LM.jpg

McLaren F1 GT, the road going version of the BMW F1 GTR '97, no real reason other than it looks cool IMO.
edsg5enrmbk41.jpg

Porsche 911 GT1 1996 Evo, a controversial one but I would rather see this over the GT1-98 just so the F1 GTR has a period correct rival and it looks much better than the '97 GT1.

hqdefault.jpg

Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR GT1, the older V12 powered sibling of the CLK-LM just cooler, another car that confuses me as IIRC the last racing game to officially include it was Forza Motorsport 1; despite this one probably being even more famous than the CLK-LM. Fun fact this one was actually supposed to appear in GT2 but was cut very early into it's development and was the name incorrectly given to the CLK-LM in GT4 and not fixed until one of the GT5 updates.

There are a few, probably falling into The considerably different version duplicate category.

Mercedes-Benz W196S '55 - closely related to the W196R, and what I would have included in the first place.
Ford GT40 Mk II '66 - the Mk I chassis with the Mk IV powertrain.
Ford Boss 302 Mustang '69 - the 429 is a great car, but the lightweight one would be nice.
Nissan R32 Skyline GTS-t Type M - an R32 with two less driven wheels, because why not.

And one more, I guess it's The facelifted duplicate although it's a different brand altogether, but...

Oldsmobile 4-4-2 '69 - preferably the Hurst/Olds version, it's largely the same car as the '69 Pontiac GTO.

There are more but I'm certain others will choose them too so I'll go with just those.

Both 2006 versions of the Super GT Honda NSX GT500 and the Lexus SC430 GT500 from Gran Turismo 5; Honda RAYBRIG NSX '06 and Lexus BANDAI DIREZZA SC430 '06:

Lexus_BANDAI_DIREZZA_SC430_29_ 2706.jpgHonda_RAYBRIG_NSX_29_ 2706.jpg
If both cars were to appear in GT7, I expect their names to be called the "Lexus SC430 GT500 '06" and the "Honda NSX GT500 '06"
(I just realized the Raybrig NSX '06's light covers are yellow. (Gr.2 cars in GT7 cannot have their light covers changed except the BMW McLaren F1 GTR Race Car '97))

Some cool models already posted.

What i would like to see:

  • Tesla Model S Plaid: Crazy Performance EV

  • Mercedes Benz SLR Stirling Moss: Only 75 produced; engine from the 722 version of the SLR
    800px-Mercedes-Benz_SLR_Stirling_Moss_McLaren.jpg

  • Mercedes Benz C63 AMG: W204 with the 6.2l NA V8. Because its a monster engine and we will never see sth like it again with the EV and downsizing trend.
800px-Mercedes_C63_rear_20080419.jpg

  • Audi TT RS: 5-cyl engine, because it sounds fantastic and has much better performance than the TTS variant
800px-Audi_TTRS_roadster_%288S%29_IMG_5281.jpg

Sorry, i was too lazy to look up model years 😕

Here is a rare duplicate, with all the pertinent details:
Ford GT40 Mk III
1967-Ford-GT40-MK-III.jpg

The Ford GT40 MKIII was a high-performance, street-legal race car built in 1966. Ford commissioned JWAE to develop the MKIII to broaden its appeal, offering it in both left and right-hand drive. Only seven were ever built. Here's an overview of the MKIII:
Design
Based on the MKII road race car, the MKIII has an extended tail, opening door windows, raised front wings, and twin headlights. It was aerodynamically stable and low drag.
Performance
Powered by a 289-cubic-inch, 306-hp Ford V8 engine, it could accelerate from 0–60 mph in 5.3 seconds and reach a top speed of around 165 mph.
Interior
More comfortable than previous versions, it had standard seats and more upholstery.
Chassis
Built from production blueprints, the MKIII's steel semi monocoque chassis had polyurethane foam filling to absorb noise, heat, and crash energy.
Suspension
Softer spring, shock, and roll rates, and geometry alterations for more anti-dive, anti-lift, and anti-squat.
Rarity
Only three were sold to private owners, including Austrian conductor Herbert von Karajan. Ford kept the other four for promotional use.

I never understood the hate behind duplicates. I think they gave the previous games a great sense of realism. It was much more realistic to race against various different specs of the same model, rather than just one.

I’m very happy we have so many Nissan R32-R35s. I’d love to see more Miatas, NSX Type S and Type S Zero, regular facelifted NSX.

My pick of duplicates:
  • R34 Z Tune, CRS or M Spec Nür
  • R35 from 07, CRS or Nismo N attack package
  • A80 Supra TRD 3000GT
  • 2016 Viper ACR Extreme Aero Package (the ACR and ACR-X SRT10 are welcome too)
Oh, I forgot to mention this one:
- Lamborghini Huracan Performante

I wouldn't mind seeing:

Aston Martin Vantage V12 (2015) - maybe even the roadster? Unsure why they never included the 6.0 V12 version from the start...
BMW M3 CSL (E46) (2004) - the ultimate M3.
BMW M3 (F80) (2015) - mainly because I own one, and it's the only M3 missing aside from the current generation.
Mazda RX-7 Type RB or A-Spec (1995) and Type RZ (1998).
Pagani Zonda C12 (1999) - the original Zonda.
Pagani Zonda F (2005) - the last one before all the special editions and track-only specs.
Porsche 911 Turbo (993) (1995)
Porsche 911 GT2 (Any version from the 996 onwards!)
Porsche 911 GT3 Touring (992) (2022)

I really want to see genuine Race Car versions of cars that I have made by using road cars. My big 2 are the BMW M3 and the Porsche 934. You can get close with all the upgrades / options but still have the road going interiors and a few other annoying detail points.
