An EMP would be more deadly than most people think it would. Mainly because of hospitals. if theyre electronics dont work then the people that rely on those electronics will die. Secondly, if someone needs to call an ambulance then they wont be able to. Thirdly people that rely on insulin pumps, pacemakers and the like could die too. and someone mention people going crazy, that would have alot to do with it too.
Still not as deadly as instantly incinerating everyone within the blast range.

No one is saying that it won't cause tons of havoc, but if you look at the NYC blackout from a couple of years back you will see that people won't go on crazy killing sprees just because everything shutdown on them.

Honestly, it won't kill that many people. If I had to choose between an EMP or a nuke I will take an EMP any day. At least my odds are pretty good of walking away from that.

Loss of power won't kill people on life support... not immediately I should know, we've got a hospital. It's amazing how long they'll last on hand pumps.

The big problem is if it takes a long time to fix the dialysis machines. Those patients may die of blood toxicity in the meantime.

And don't forget the falling airplanes, dead fire-trucks, etcetera... an EMP blast is much worse than a simple blackout.

By far the worst thing that could happen as the result of an E-Bomb would be losing all your memory card saves. You guys aren't prioritizing, leave the people in the hospital, leave the falling planes, save the game data!

I'm not trying to say that an EMP is just a blackout, I realize the consequences of what would happen. What I am saying is that people won't be going crazy. Too much crazy stuff has gone on in the past few years and no one has gone crazy. When this stuff happens people band together. I have yet to see a Lord of the Flies scenario from 9/11, the blackout, tsunamis, London train bombings, or Katrina.

The only way I see people snapping like that is if they knew for a fact that the world would end within a few days. When it is a situation that can be recovered from people are more likely to help each other so that they can recover quicker than they are too rip each other off or turn savage and crazy.

So while, yes, the effect is much worse than a simple blackout, I can't see the response of the people being that way.
