EA Porsche License expiration - rumor or fact?

... dont like porsches handling characteristics lol

If you don't like the way the 924/944/964/928, 914/Boxster, or 911 handle corners, any of them, I guess you're strictly a FWD/AWD guy. Porsche have covered every possible RWD format (front-, mid-, and rear-engined), you know. ;)

Forza 3 already had the 944 Turbo and the 914/6, so it's not like we're asking for a gaggle of "hopped-up VW Beetles."

If this is true then I'm expecting a Porsche DLC for Forza , and a massive one. It better be free but if not I'm still buying it.

No. You'll buy it anyway. If you REALLY want Porsche, you'll buy it.

EDIT: I remember reading an article about a lawsuit filed against EA for violating anti-trust laws with their exclusive rights to the NFL and NCAA Football licenses. I don't know what the ruling ended up being, but EA might not be able to pick up exclusive licenses anymore.

I do know that all their current exclusive licenses end this year. Take Two Interactive has already approached the NFL about NFL 2K13. Heck, Lamborghini and Ferrari both jumped the exclusive EA license ship, and it sounds like, parent company, VW/Audi want to do the same with Porsche. (Yeah, yall forgot about the Porsche/VW/Audi partnership, huh? Could mean good things.) I have notice that Porsches promotion of EA titles ceased around Christmas.

In the end, I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple Porsche Packs in FM4 say...June/July...maybe March/April. The good news is, T10 already has Porsche models made, so it shouldn't take too much to get them in, but it might take more time to secure a license...not an exclusive license, though. And Porsche in FM4 could also mean Porsche in GT5....we shall see.

^ re read i dont think ea has the edge in both money and manufacturer flavour anymore, so i am expecting some form of dlc. they have a one year deal with the huayra and we did get the car rather swiftly after it expires no?

I really want EA's Porsche License to expire, so that Porsche will return in Forza, and that Gran Turismo will finally have them.

I also wanted to ask anyone this, but why does EA have Porsche?

Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed

it came out in the original PS1 days. I had the PC version and loved it back in the day.

It damn well better be a fact that it has expire, or soon will. I don't even like Porsche in real life (I prefer BMW always haha), but those cars are meant for Forza Racing not a ridiculously overplayed Need for Speed game version 22 at that,

EA are kind of dicks, but they're also just the publisher. The games and their developers really have nothing to do with the Porsche fiasco. And I wouldn't say the current batch of NFS titles are worthless.

Shift 2 Unleashed has a great track list, nifty special effects (best headlight effects I've ever seen), and is actually a fine drive once you tweak the control sensitivity settings (no idea how they decided the defaults were good...at all).

The Run is a schizophrenic and overbearing mess, but the car list is good, the roads are great (if recycled a little too much), and IMO the physics are the best the series has seen since, well, Porsche Unleashed. Braking and low gears are required (gasp!), and each car has a personality -- kind of a caricature of what they're known for. The driving feels very rewarding; there's a great game buried under all the frustrating garbage, and sometimes it shines through.

Hot Pursuit is the most polished of the three, and critically acclaimed for good reason. The physics are lifted straight from Burnout, for better or worse, but it's gorgeous to look at and the overall gameplay is solid. Free run with the 24h cycle is good stuff. 👍

Well that's what I'm hoping for. Even though I prefer Turn 10/Forza series to PD/GT series, I really don't want to see an exclusive license given out. Exclusive licenses just end up hurting the consumer in the long run and limiting choice.

I'm not really sure how all the licensing issues work, but if EA's license for Porsche has expired I hope that Porsche will retain the right to sub license their brand to ALL game developers!!!! It helps competition which in turn will promote better game development and allow us (as consumers) to have CHOICES!

It would be great for PD to finally get Porsche in the GT series as well!
