EBGames Canada didn't have enough Anniversary Editions.

So I preordered GT6 at EBGames (in Canada), I specifically asked for the Anniversary Edition, the display box I brought to the cashier was for the Anniversary Edition, the cashier was looking at the Anniversary Edition info on the computer... I get a regular edition. They tell me that they didn't understand the SKU or RE vs LE and sold out of the Anniversary edition a long time ago. My city's EBGames, the only EBGames in the region only had 7 copies that they were permitted to sell. Really!? Is the Anniversary Edition like a rare limited edition? Why advertise something that you cannot deliver on? I'm so angry right now with EBGames/Gamestop and PD for creating this mess in the first place that I think I may just never have anything to do with either company ever again. Every copy of the game should be the same anniversary edition period.

I went in yesterday morning to preorder it and pay in full. The guy told me that they didnt have a sku number for the anniversary edition but took a pen and wrote AE on my receipt and scratched out the SE for standard edition.

I get a call at the end of my work day saying Sony emailed them and they only had enough for those people who preordered before. I'm not understanding, I was under the assumption I'm getting the regular game, and just a code for the preorder. So I'm out of one as well.

Anniversary Edition costs more. And yes, EB games stuffs up so it's obviously PD's fault.

On the flip side, the EB games near me had too many Anniversary Editions

Anniversary Edition costs more.

Not here.

I was informed by the local manager that they haven't received a whole lot of copies of the AE, and I quote "because not a lot of people pre-ordered". That said, she did say they should have enough AE copies to satisfy the pre-order folks for the day.

If anything, this sounds like (typical) incompetence on EB's behalf, @Hastatus. Certainly not PD's fault, and probably not really Sony's, either. Unfortunately, there's not much that can be done, other than demanding they honour your pre-order and source an AE from another store (or work out a way for you to exchange it with one, depending on distance).

Same thing at the EB Games I visited this morning when I went to pick up my copy. No copies on the shelf, only enough to supply the pre-orders. Luckily I pre-ordered a few weeks back so I got my game. I was pretty shocked that they didn't have any extra copies though.

I pre ordered over 4 months ago. i specifically said the anniversary edition. they only had 1 sku at the time but said it will get upgraded when they get the sku. my eb games is not open until 10am (pacific time) so i am waiting still to head out...if its not the anniversary edition ill be pissed..almost to the point of not buying there and just going to wal mart. hopefully its the right one!

The thing that bothers me most is that the Anniversary Edition was still available to purchase online yesterday from the website. So had I known that I was not getting the edition I wanted, I would have ordered it online instead of going to the store.

If PD got any extra money or incentives for creating variations of game content for the market, they are to blame too. PD used the Gamestop exclusive details as advertising on their own website. I refuse to accept that the developers are being forced to create the content for free and they get no benefits.

If EB Games ends up selling Anniversary Editions on their shelves at a later date...

I'll have 2 AE GT6, ordered one by error :embarrassed:, can shipp it to you if you really want it, but you wont have it before tomorow

All this fuss about eb/gamestop orders has me worried about what I'll be buying today.. I ordered GT6 like 4-5 months ago and went back to eb 2 weeks ago to check that they had ordered the copy I asked for. The teller said my order was for and LE copy?? the only other option was SE. Should I be worried that I won't be getting the content I'd hoped for? Considering there's no such thing as LE/Limited Edition yet, only the AE edition?

This has me slightly concerned as well, I might call my EB to make sure.

Just called and said it was the anniversary edition. I have to say though, it doesn't matter how polite you are to them on the phone, they are the rudest piece of **** on the planet :banghead:

I only bought from EB because of the anni edition :grumpy:

I ordered LE - got AE. Seems like the same thing.

'LE' was probably a SKU code - remember people were 'pre-ordering' long before the SKUs were set up - so they had the options of 'Regular Edition' and Limited Edition'. I'm not sure there was ever a SKU with 'AE' attached to it officially.

Pre-orders help the Retail gurus gauge the market response - if EBGames didn't get many 'Pre-orders' they are likely to think the game has bombed, and wouldn't invest in too much stock.

One thing to consider is the AE cars. There is currently 3 GT6 seasonal time trials, one of them is for AE cars only.

Luckily I pre-ordered my AE before the 1st. I went this morning and got mine but a woman before me said she pre-ordered on the first and the guy said they were out of stock and stopped taking AE pre-orders since the 29th.

Thanks a ton! Glad to hear I'll be getting those cars for collecting purposes. Only reason I ordered from EB as well

EB staff have always been ignorant sob's :D They told me I couldn't order from them because EB and Gamestop are apparently completely different--until he pulled my order up on his computer.

I got mine fine, preorder was for the LE edition and I got the anniversary edition.

If all of them are anniversary editions then what incentive do you have to preorder? I'd be mad at EB not PD.

When I went to pick it up he was to busy sending text messages to pay any attention to me, I hate EB.. The guy actually sent a text while my credit card was going through.. he couldn't wait the 15 seconds.

but they had the best pre order deal :)

Hmm... I'm about to go to EB in a few hours after work to pick up mine. Preordered AE in September, hope I get what I ordered...

Just to clear things up though, do you get a different cover (for the North American version)? Or is it just the cars? Would be nice to know exactly what I should expect before I go, if anyone can let me know.

Wondering the same thing..

I've been led to believe that the pre-order from EB has the alternate cover art. But I've also been led to believe we'd be getting the alternate boxart that has the cardboard sleeve that includes beyond the apex booklet inside.

I was thinking about the pre-order versions of the game should all be the same AE; It didn't come out that way, I know.

If there is indeed a seasonal event for AE cars only, that is entirely PD's doing not EBGames' unless the distributers are now dictating game content.

I was told by the local EB Games that copies of the Anniversary Edition ended up being allocated, as they were only able to get enough for those that had preordered by a certain date (can't recall exactly what date).

This came up because when I dropped in last week to confirm my pre-order was for the right thing, the clerk was confused about what I was asking and thought I was trying to preorder at that point, and said that I wouldn't be able to get the Anniversary Edition as a result.

I took the day off work, picked up my anniversary edition from ebgames yay! I preordered back in July, back when there was only 1 sku and the promo cars were incorrect.

Anyways my game just finished updating 1.01. So I'll take my leave now :)

I just picked mine up, my receipt said LE (preordered about a month ago) despite discussing with the cashier at the time that I wanted the anniversary edition, after reading this thread I was a bit worried but when I got in this morning there were no issues and they gave me an AE (no booklet, just a normal PS3 case).

The thing I don't understand is that the AE has inside a leaflet with a code for the 'anniversary edition content' but the receipt also has a different code on it too (that looks different from typical PSN codes, just a string of numbers/letters, no dashes) anybody knows what that is for? is it something to be redeemed on the PSN?

I pre-ordered mine when I picked up my GTA V pre-order at a Burlington Ontario EB games. Just went on my lunch hour to pick up the Anniversary Edition and got it no problem. I did not get a 7 day PSN Plus pass like some Americans have gotten but oh well.

But EB games did have a problem, I noticed my pre-order receipt does not mention anything about the Anniversary Edition at all, only my new receipt notes the game as "Gran Turismo 6 LE". I think one of the issues is that both copies sell for the same price, they might not have given the game 2 separte SKU's until later. I know I didn't pre-order my copy until I knew for sure that an anniversary edition would be issued.

The only problem I have now is that I will have to delete some files off my old fat 80GB unit to make room for the 30GB game.

EDIT: for reference, both my pre-order receipt & receipt I got when I picked up the game both list the same 709901 product number, but my pick up receipt adds 308/171 to that code number.

@Hastatus

What city do you live in? I live in Winnipeg and I haven't picked my GT6 yet. I have it pre-ordered.
Dang I'm scared.

EDIT: Did you receive any codes for the Anniversary Edition cars?

I received a phone call yesterday from my EB Canada store and they said that my AE is waiting. I am hopeful this is true, will find out when I get there after work.

There is no manual at all (inside the case) - probably everything online.

Same position here - 12 Digit DL Code on card inside case, and a 16 digit code on the receipt. I'll have to call EBGames to verify - after all it's their receipt.

GT5 Deja Vu - duplicate threads galore, information spread like jelly everywhere, padlocks flung around, and I'm sure I posted that somewhere else, too.
