Okay, so I've went back to the special events recently to gold them out and I'm on the Grand Tour and the first challenge with the Alfa Romeo 8C on Eiger Nordwand is completely frustrating. You need a 1:17:000 for Gold and the best I can pull of is a 1:17:506. I've been attempting this challenge for nearly 3 days now.

This is way worse than the X1 challenge.

Any tips? I'm using a DS3. :ouch:  :nervous: :dunce: :indiff: :guilty: :scared:

This one took me a while to complete but I eventually got it. The key is to go as fast as you can without letting your tires slide. The last section of the course around that long turn is particularly tricky for this. I also managed this (and golding the X1 challenge) with the DS3 and I must say it's no comparison, X1 is heaps more difficult. So basically just keep testing the limits of your car around turns to see how fast you can get around them without allowing for any tire slippage.

I've golded it on DS3 with the default settings/assists. Someone here on GTP posted a video that really helped me. In a nutshell, it came down to applying a dab of handbrake in the hairpins to get the darn thing to turn in properly. Still easier than the X2010 at Suzuka :P

I copied this guys style as best I could and got it after about 15 minutes of trying:

If that video is not your style you can also look for the Stune5 video of that event on youtube, he takes a slightly different more aggressive approach.

Did you do a search on this topic? Pretty sure there's at least three other threads with multiple videos and lots of advice...

It took me about 30 minutes of constant trying to complete the Gold time. I'm using a G25, and i did it with all assists on OFF. I tried using a combination of TC and so on, but it only slowed me down. The important thing is avoid wheel spin as much as possible, be aggressive and you need a very good throttle control to go fast with this car.

The problem with this is similar to the Vettel challenge, not being able to hotlap to beat a time, but having to do it in one lap from a standing start. It wouldn't make it technically any easier, you still have to beat a time, but being able to drive round and round helps you get into the flow much more.

I did it with a controller, can't remember the settings but it wasn't easy that's for sure.

I cannot do this one too, feels like its impossible, been trying it on and off for weeks now, got within a few hundreths of a second, but man them tyres are like blocks of ice. :(

According to Jeremy Clarkson, this car, is art. And asking for handling is like "watching porn films for their plots":dopey:

Yep, I saw that episode, but I thought he was talking about the Alfa Romeo Brera then?
Anyways, I remember reading somewhere that they made the 8C for racing like handling???

Sorry about the letter and number mix up with the 8C.

Still haven't passed it yet nor beat my best time.. -.-

EDIT: Just improved my time by .096 :)

Hello, I'm new but special thanks to Stune for the tip of license and all golds except Eiger & Vettel I did using DS3 controller.

No clue how to beat Eiger, got 1:17.720 ( 5+ hours :( ). I'm ready Vettel's challenges this week.

TC- 0
ABS- 3

I love the 8C, fantastic car when your able to tune it... For this challenge all assist off except ABS. I golded it on second try, using a G27 however.

To adjust brake balance mid-race you must set a button on your controller for RA function (and ra select +- adjust +-). Then during any race with any car you can adjust brakes, traction control, abs, and asm.
Very effective for license tests and everything really.

Ps. This is pretty hard. Smooth is fast. Took me a while.

I struggled a lot with that one.
almost gave up until I decided to watch replay videos on youtube.
That's how I figured that my driving line was way off in the last corner. And when I tried it again, I succeeded after a few tries.

So Youtube it 👍

Thanks, I will give a try after work tonight and then will let you know! :)

Hardest test in the game! Really!

I spent maybe... 6-7 hours of perfecting the 'art' of driving this SOB.

Like one of the earlier posters said 'Smooth is fast'. Try to get the best time in the first sector... low 35s or 34s... and then you should be fine.

Also, take notes on how to take the last sector before crossing the finish line. It'll help you!

Good luck pal!

I'm still trying but my best time in the first sector is daaamn 35.4xx :( :(

Will try tonight! Thanks man!

the secret to passing this test with flying colors, is to alter your Brake Bias, FR and rear. (cues Zelda discovery music). I learnt of this secret after having to finally dig deep, when I couldn't ace it for my 1000th time. After brake adjust, got it in less than 5 to 10 tries. repeatedly. Since then, the first tune setting I change is my brake bias in all cars on the Nordschleife. 5 / 5 Bias default, is ... bad.

Wow... can you please tell me the best bias brake rear and front? -/+ I haven't tried RA menu since bought a GT5 game... :ouch:

For now I know where to find RA menu... :)
