Dude, being from a snow state and driving a fox body mustang in the snow for a couple winters, I guess I'm somewhat confused but I'm relieved to hear she's fine. She'll be a salty bitch for a few days though......

Nobody is prepared for it here either, mainly because they're morons and forgot it snows here and all crash into stuff the first time it snows. Seriously, every year, year after year, the first month of snow is nothing but traffic jams and accidents everywhere. What you experienced is what it's like here in December, except to a somewhat lesser degree due to our hefty DOT budget. But yeah, you're lucky it's once in a blue moon lol.

At least it makes sense you guys don't expect it. You'd figure people up here would know how to handle the car in snow. They don't. The drivers here fear skidding on pavement that's not even covered in snow. It's quite disappointing how ignorant a lot of the drivers here are considering we have snow every year.

Frigid and lightly salted. Mmmmmm.....

Just a tip, if there's salt all over the car, don't just wash it. Really get in there and hose everything down, especially under the car, with soapy water (if possible I don't know if you can get your car on jack stands or on a curb or something). Straight salt turns into brine when watered down, obviously, but the brine will get into every nook and cranny. Seriously though, I'm wicked jealous of your car, especially because it's black (or will be again when you wash it lol).

Just got it detailed. I'll have to go back and do that. Thanks!

Also, I was kind of on the fence before about doing intake and a tuner when my tax check came in, but after this experience it's definitely happening.

FYI, cold air intakes (if that's what you're going for), especially on the new 5.0 are never what they're cracked up to be, usually not adding any noticeable amount of power but subtracting quite a noticeable amount of mpgs, from personal experience. I'd start with the tuner then if you're itching for more get the intake plus a hi-flow performance manifold-back exhaust (including new cats). Just remember what goes in must come out and more air and fuel usually benefits the most with a free flowing exhaust with just enough back pressure to keep things happy.

Seems this has turned into a "what mods should I do to my car" thread now. Might want to get it moved to the Members Rides section. ;)

My favorite setup other than straight pipes lol. Insanely loud though.

Just run 2 1/4" pipes about halfway under the car, put some cheap turbo mufflers on it and dump em before the rear axle.

Any exhaust recommendations?
Actually, yeah lol. After having terrible products from Borla and Summit I pretty much all but gave up on finding a "bolt on" exhaust kit. Well, that fox body I had? I had to sell it during a rough patch to my mom (she absolutely loves fox mustangs). This past summer I was doing a routine service on it, and long story short noticed it needed new mufflers. The H pipes themselves weren't in great condition so I bit the bullet and bought her a whole header-back exhaust from Pypes Performance Exhaust for $590 which included the mufflers but not cats. Skeptical I started work and as usual it didn't fit quite right which meant cutting, bending, and welding. To be honest there is absolutely nothing that is "bolt on" when it comes to the foxes, they're just a pain in the butt no matter what. After I got done I was amazed by how great the setup sounded that I started to forgive Pypes for the headache it was getting it to fit. But what's more is the entire kit, mufflers and all, is polished stainless steel the entire way so it looks absolutely fantastic and doesn't need bolt-on exhaust tips, it looks great as is. The tone is magnificent, a slight burble at idle, the wonderful V8 noise you expect under acceleration but nicely toned too, and NO DRONE at highway speeds, it sounds well, kind of like your car on the highway but oh so much better hard on the throttle. The Borla and Summit kits were just all un-toned garbage noise imo. Well, now that I'm done sales pitching someone's product LOL.....

Unfortunately he still needs cats because his stock computer will only recognize a couple different O2 sensors, all of which I'm fairly certain need to recognize the cats (mostly the aft sensor).

Yeah but that's not hard to put in.

Car is back and in one piece. Thanks everyone!

I'm really glad it all turned out well for you! And I agree that you should focus on getting that salt off as soon as possible now that it's back above freezing.

It was until everyone started parking their cars wherever the hell they felt like. :P

I almost had to leave mine on a highway when the snow turned to ice beneath my tires while waiting for a jackknifed USPS truck to get moved.

On a semi-related note, I have an answer for anyone who's still missing their package...

I was in a similar situation, forced to leave my car in a very bad part of town. Fully expected it to get stolen, broken into, or at least the wheels yanked. While waiting for a few hours on a friend to come save me in his Jeep, I slowly accepted the fact that any one of those atrocities would probably occur. There was nothing I could do, and panic wouldn't make things better. Two days later when I went to pick it up, it had not been harmed in the slightest. 👍

Yeah, deal went a but too far with the soe.. If he could've just said stay home on Tuesday that would've been enough. I can'tbelieve how many people have to believe in the fact that government has to control every aspect about our daily lives...
