Le Mans 24 hour is the next race in my career calendar, I'm considering doing the race at 100% starting this afternoon. I'll be doing alternate 3 hour stints with the AI driver.

Is there anything I need to make sure of before I start. settings etc?

Thanks.

Disabling flags and penalties is what I do before starting these races. Maybe not realistic, but the way they are working is not realistic either.

Completely stoked after watching IRL eh... :D
What class are you starting in ?

Thanks. Will the AI driver be doing the same lap times as I do, or the same as the other AI?

I qualified earlier in the week using the Audi e-tron. if I enjoy it enough this time, I'll try the other classes.

The AI co-drivers I had were lapping a bit slower. Maybe that depends on AI settings which I turned down to 90% (to get some breathing space). AI mostly pits a few laps too early, where he could do several more laps with the available fuel. That seems to happen on all tracks. So be sure to check early enough when you decide to swap drivers. It surprised me a few times.
Good luck !

Decided I didn't want to rely on an AI driver, or turn off damage and penalties, so I set the race length to 6 hours and intended to do 3 hours, have a break then do the rest.

First hour and 3/4 was fine, then it got dark. Started to get a headache straining my eyes looking for the braking points, also misjudged the bad AI a couple of times expecting them to go one way but going another. Then I lost concentration and thought I was at a different part of the track, missed the entrance at the Porsche curves and hit the tyres and damaging the suspension. Pitted for repairs and fuel, 2 laps later and I miss the braking points for the second chicane, then ended up in the gravel at Porsche again.

After about 2.5 hours it was time to give up... I wasn't ready.

Better luck next time.

Oh well...prepared for the next one then.
I keep damage on also. That costed me a race because I smashed my headlights at night time, combined with a shattered windscreen. Switched to roof cam to try to get to the pits, but lost so much time...
Just curious: you seem to have had several off- track, didn't you get DSQ or warnings ?

I did get 1 warning for cutting short, all the rest of the times I was slower.

None of the AI seem to have any accidents amongst themselves though, kinda disappointing.

My last 24 hrs I did in LMP2. Saw several LMP1 cars with big bodyparts missing, one even without any bodypart left.

On the warnings side: I did my first long endurance races on PS4 and I got several DSQ's for being pushed wide that I gave up racing with flags and penalties enabled. It's just not correct: running wide (being pushed or avoiding other cars) and losing considerable time should not be sanctioned as cutting track. And if so, a drive through penalty would be far better than a DSQ...

Agree 100%. To be honest it was also a bit boring driving at the front the whole race, might take a GT4 next time.
I also wanted to accelerate fuel usage and tyre wear to x3. I could do this with the tyres but the settings don't allow it for fuel.

I finished Le Mans in GT3, LMP2 and LMP1 cars. Once in LMP1 with AI at 100% but for a full length endurance that was too high (for me). I had to literally fight all the time to keep up. For a few hours that was OK, but I could not hold them of all the time, which is the reason I turned them down to 90 afterwards.
In the lower classes there is more to do than just look ahead, you also have to watch out for faster cars. Not always easy because (I use cockpit view) the headlights don't really show in the rear view mirror (or camera). It is a bit tiresome to hit the look back button all the time, but that is the only way to see them coming (I also disable track map and all other HUDs, info comes from pCars Dash on a tablet on top of my central screen.

I started a new WEC Championship season in GT4, driving the Aston Martin in the Tri Nations Championship, with the AI on 100%.
The 1st race was 154 laps at Road America.
Bob and I got pole and led the whole way through, eventually winning.

In Career category...This endurance race:---> "Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans Race"
Does anybody know how many laps does this race take?
I"m doing it right now...in the lead by a good bit... and on lap #31 and I want to know how many laps it takes.
Lord amighty it's taking so long. Never knew it would take this long and my patience is wearing thin. Can't spend all evening and night on it. ---->So please anybody knows how many laps it takes please advise.

(I just paused the race to ask this). Hoping for a speedy reply.

UPDATE: Ok I just found out. After posting the above I went back to continue for a bit and after I had finished crossing lap #31...Eureka!!!...the race ended and I was declared the winner.
Whewww!!!!....Thank God I didn't give up and exited the race. That was long as hell. Glad to have finished it though. Amen.

I imagine if you're doing it full length the race will last for 24 hours.

It didn't take 24 hours thank God. I would have gone crazy. But it did take quite a long time, can't recall exactly how long. 31-32 laps. However long that was. Amen and Amen. That was the end of Season 2. Next up is Season 3. Have to decide which contract to accept now to proceed. May decide by tomorrow. Have to take a break after that marathon.

So you scaled the race down. Full length is 24hrs.
It is a timed race. Actual length is determined by the slider in the race setup.

Minimum race duration for Le Mans is 2 hours (slider at 1%).

Bealdor, Thanks again for that bit of info. Only noticed that slider thingy after you mentioned it as I never adjusted it before. Guess it was at default. Thank God it was at 1%. Amen to that. Would have literally gone crazy if it was longer.

It was around 8 hours of racing, shared between Bob and myself.

To Animera, y'all deserve an award for patience. "8 hours" God amighty.

EDIT: Tell me something though. If you start one of the endurance races like you had, is it possible to stop at some point in the progress and continue later on from where you stopped it? And if so, how?

There is no mid race save function.
The best you can do is to pause the game and resume later, but I've never tried that.

Best to keep it at 1% then. Homey don't have no patience for going 8 hours for one race. That is much too long.

Speaking of endurance racing,

I'm in season 3, I finished the historic TC2, then Road entry club U.K., now it has thrown me directly into 24 hours of Lemans.

That can't be correct??

Yeah. Think that's how it goes towards the end. It's like you get promote. Don't worry. If you have length slider at 1% it should take about 2 hours or 31 laps. Otherwise all the best with that.
