Never ever ever ever ever !
Come on now I know all of you have been thinking about it. Engine Damage could be one aspect of GT that could make this game all the more interesting.

Depending on how you drive:

1. Always Over Revving
2. Hitting the wall
3. Not changing Oil
4. Overheating
5. Selecting the Wrong Gear

Just a few things there to mull over but who knows if that will ever make it into the GT Series.

There are probably gonna be some aspects, although definitely dumbed down from their real life consequences.

A lot of games have engine blowouts, but it's usually overheating and over revving for a very long consistent time.

What about transmission damage. Such as a being able to break the clutch or lose a gear. This plus engine damage would be great.

If it was too touchy like FM2 or FM3 I wouldn't bother.

But I think engine damage should be included but with a realistic approach, as would PD.

Having a blown motor on a race down a drag strip by someone pushing the limits would be quite a good finish and outcome

Dont forget rolling over. The lack of fluids going into the engine could ruin it...

I would really like to take out the Changing oil aspect of GT, it was always screwy when trying to be fair on Time trials and was a waste of time in general

Rolling the car could be a great effect. Totally wrecking your car so you have no choice but to buy a new one. 👍

I wonder would car manufacturers allow turbo cars to loose HP in endurance races like those they do in best motoring. Those EVOs and imprezas got really nailed by NA hondas in one battle after 10 laps in summer temps.

I know a guy that never changed his oil in over 10 years of driving, he never even checked it! I remember his utter shock when his engine blew one day, he cried, I laughed.

Why do I sense that there will be organized, online destruction derbies for GT5. Informal and not an actual online mode of course. I've never been a destruction derby fan, but now I can't decide whether I'm disturbed or excited.

This can actually fit into the damage thread, but why not! Engine wear and tear would be cool with me, and neglecting your motor should result in failure.

great--GT5 should borrow all the rest of the worst elements from Sega GT too. Then maybe it'd be totally joyless. I can't think of anybody who gets into a sim to constantly repair/maintain their car, rather the opposite.

I know! Next we can incorporate buying insurance, filling out loan paperwork and waiting in line at the DMV.

I think the hondas has better brakes as well, they don't fade even after 7 lap. I just wished PD would implement brake fade so lotus elise have chance against the big heavy supercars like Lambos for endurance races.

I posted this once and I post it again:

If there were engine / technical failures the races (especially offline) would come to a new level of excitement. They have to program random technical failures into the game which occur by say - 1% chance.

Because then it will ALWAYS be possible to actually win a race even if you cannot drive as fast as the leader. You will always have a (small) chance to WIN !

Without this feature you are able to predict after just a few laps of racing that there is NO CHANCE to win this particular race if you notice you are 0.1 sec slower on each lap then the leader.

This made racing kind of boring... (ref. GT4)

In real life there IS always a small chance even if you are in 3rd spot to win the race and this is what keeps you going on pushing to the limit ! Ask me how I know...

Clutch explosions would be quite interesting and scary in the cockpit view... Also I'm pretty sure one review of the GamesCom demo said that after bashing the car up enough they couldn't go beyond 4th gear, and another (though possibly the same one) said the car definitely got slower as a result of crashing and stuff.

One thing that would be quite interesting would be gearbox failures as a result of mis-shifting a sequential manual 'box, but that would require a certain type of car or the fully customisable gearbox; Synchromeshed cars wouldn't fail that easily, but if you don't time shifts properly in gearboxes without a synchromesh you'll damage them.

That would work well, you can have an engine faliures in cmr 5 and dirt(not sure about dirt 2 but i'd guess you can) although these were mainly from ecessive damage!

I feel if people want real damage and real collision physics, then real consequences should be present as well, even after the race is over.

WTF, why would I want to do something I loathe to do in real life? How about GT just stay a driving simulator and not a life simulator?!

"BU...BU! ITZ WEALISTIKKKKKKK" Uh, whatever, you having to take a **** in the middle of a race is also realistic. GT5 should zap your penile muscle so you soil yourself all over the place randomly for realism too, despite it not exactly being fun or relevant to the driving. "BU... BU, HOW ELSE WILL I PLAY PWETEND WACECAR DRIWER?!?!" UGH!!

👍👍......Why not??

Just to let you know I have started a thread about PD having a Driving Test Sim for Each Country.

I know youre out to claim souls Reaperman:nervous: but take it easy....It's only a game...
