Just ran a quick 10 laps and improved on my very poor previous of 1'08.800 set with a G25......... dunno if i'll get a chance to run a decent session as i've got a monstrous 2 weeks coming up at work. Anyways, back to business......

I've recently moved away from the G25 to a DFGT, and i can tell you my observations after the first week of DFGT vs 8 months of G25 are very very intriguing, along with some unanswered questions regarding the "feel" of the G25...... it being an unsupported wheel and all.....

I would be very interested to hear your feedback on the differences between the G25 and the DFGT. Just recently bought a G25 but almost got a DFGT.
Only reason I didn't was I figured the pedals on the G25 were way better, and well, I guess I would have kicked myself if I had got the DFGT and found out that I would want/need a G25 later. I would love to hear what you think about the two different wheels now that you've had a chance to use them both.

Tell more, how is the DFGT vs. G25?

Yeah, I was thinking of making the step to a G25. But my worry is that because i'm so used to my DFGT I may not be as fast and may not like the 'feel' as much.

Just asking because I could sweare that my old DFP had better feel than the G25...

Timo, Carl and Mad.........

Obviously these are my observations....... everyone feels feedback and dynamics differently.

Now i dunno if the G25 was faulty or i was faulty in the end or not, but it lacked any form of consistent pedal feel or steering feel, for example with braking a certain pressure point for braking reacted differently each time. I constructed a small wooden block to put behind the pedal to get identical pressure each time, and it varied each time, obviously that makes setting a consistent lap very hard. This was consistent on all tracks.

Regarding steering feel, for me the hardest section at Daytona Rd was the Bus Stop, it always felt out of control and oversteer was prevalent, now, every car feels more "planted" whilst hopping the curbs. The G25 would constantly give me a loaded up heavy feel pointing to the RHS fence on exiting the first 2 curbs, i oversteered consistently when trying to correct this and ended far left in the fence around half the laps i did. Changing the FF setting made minimal difference.

Another observation is to do with my feel of the FF strength is at Eiger and Eiger R. I was running FF5 and could never get the final right left before running up the hill (Eiger R) right.... the wheel would always shudder and give a lot of resistance at that point in the track and made driving a consistent line hard. The sweeper exiting the tunnel on R provided similar issues in that maintaining a consistent smooth turn in on any vehicle was difficult. Winding the setting back to 1 still gave a little resistance on sections of the track that just shouldn't have feedback IMHO.

The overall FF feel compared to the DFGT is monstrous. FF1 on the G25 is of similar feel to FF3 - 3.5 with the DFGT (i'm running 4 at the moment)..... FF5 on the G25 now to me seems crazy........ and there are guys who run higher!

Pedal feel is a big thing for me, and the G25 just felt too stiff and i struggled to get a good balance point for points on certain circuits that require a re-application of pedal on apex or a slight trailbrake.

The DFGT, in my opinion, is a "softer" wheel in all aspects, from FF to pedal feel to Wheel dynamics (The metal internals of the G25 quite obviously make it a "heavier" wheel to use) and the ability to adapt and catch an oversteer moment is far easier for me now........

In the week that i've had the DFGT, ive bettered every single time i set with the G25, at different tracks and in varying types of vehicle regardless of whether it was set last week or last year. The Tuned Vette time here for example: The time was set on lap 9 of 10. With the G25 time (set back on February i think) i spent 25-30 frustrating laps to set a 1'08.800......

My only thoughts as to why all of this is occuring is maybe due to the wheel being unsupported, it possibly isn't mated properly to the physics of GT5P, being that you have to select the DFP when in the wheel menu in options... as opposed to the DFGT which obviously was tested and trialled rigorously by Polyphony before being released.

Hope this makes sense guys..... i'm certainly not knocking the G25, it feels and looks a million dollars and went a long way to making me the driver i am today, but it plainly just didn't suit me in the end and i guess the proof is in the times.

Very interesting, makes me feel better about having a DFGT.:D I think i'll just stick with the DFGT because it's what i'm used to and i'm fairly competitive with it. I'm really happy with my DFGT, but was interested in buying a G25 because of the way everyone raves on about it thinking that it's even better than the DFGT.

Thanks for the detailed write up osg.👍

EDIT: Added a link to your post in the first post of this thread.👍

Thanks osg. Very usefull info. My only concern is that I'll buy the gt, then kaz will put full support for the g25 in the full game.

I think the only time I'll end up buying a G25 wheel is when a similar competition to that of the GT Academy arises and the qualification combo requires the use of the clutch, I have tried the G25 at Wayne's house (long time aussie gt member) it feels quite smooth and solid, not sure what the feedback settings wayne had it on but if set to full feedback, a wheel that has the strongest feedback in my opinion would makes you faster, my DFGT wheel feels as if it looses feedback as you drive it longer...not sure If thats a correct observation or not, but I can remember getting frustrated at times thinking the feedback was lacking.

Drove hour and a half with this combo, managed to compile a lap of 1'06.674, the lap unfortunately had a bad error at the second last corner, lost anywhere between .1-.2 and thus, not happy with the lap, Its a difficult combo, fun but ultra challenging

Dan, that is a fantastic time.:bowdown: I had a 15 minute session and that time was all I could come up with. Going to fire up PS3 to have a go at WRS and EYS.:D

My lap was adequate, was very similar to you Dan as i botched the last double apex to run down to the start/finish line.... cost me a truckload of time... i reckon at least a quarter of a second.

I'm hoping to get a run at it before i head back to work on Monday....... a 7.5xx is there for the taking if i put it together.

Cool combo. Love the Tuned vette.

I remember doing Eiger forward but I must've popped a lap in reverse :dopey:

I've got a G25 and the feedback in my opinion got messed around with by PD back in August I think. The update meant I had to hitch it up to 9 or 10 where as 5-6 was decent strength and detailed. Since August update it just feels vague even at 10.

I always felt DFGT and Fanatec are better Feedback but the only thing about GT5p and a G25 is the pedals are nice. The feedback could be better if PD looked at it properly even though its an old wheel now.

It's interesting your thoughts regarding the pedal feel Chronos....... i always had the issue of light application of pedal never felt right to me, it consistently felt irregular and hard to get correct pedal modulation on trailbraking for example. This stiffness factor for me seemed to hinder my performance it seems.

Interesting, I guess we all have a different experience. I feel the pedals are accurate and actually have a light feeling. Took me two days to get used to the light brake pedal after driving many cars for years. I was going to do a brake resistance mod but got used to it and not sure if the plastic base might wear out. The quality and operation of the pedals at different heights has always been the thing thats impressed me.

Improved to a very adequate time now of 1'06.501, no real errors throughout the lap, which is a satisfying feeling especially with this challenging car, had a sublime hairpin section, time submitted

Excellent lap Dan.

I was fairly close to your ghost until the hairpin section. You seem to nail the exit up the hill.

Fun challenge.

received my brand new DFGT wheel today!!!

cant wait to get back in my playseat and drive it..

only i am extremely bizzy with work right now,so i hope to have some time for this combo, otherwise i will surely race in the next one..👍👍👍

wooohooo....lol!!

Great news, Spy!

Congrads Spy. 👍

Where have you been these weeks, Chad?

Having a life. I need to focus more on school right now. Its too important.

Boy this one is fun! I miss the speed so much. Man its tricky getting into the tight section after the bridge, that bump just throws you off..

First session 1'08 something..fun fun fun

Dan.... that lap is mind boggling. Your exit speeds are not of this planet.... topped off by a great exit from the last double apex. Sublime, simply superb.

For me......I've found that the Tuned Vette requires a "less is more" approach to entry and apex speeds. Get the car set up for exit then get on it progressively.

Anyways, got to throw a good hour at it earlier this morning and found another .3xx....... and that's where it'll stay unfortunately, as time this weekend is minimal. Very pleased with the lap overall though. My T1 needs improvement, but it's adequate.

Thanks alot;) I beat my previous best time by .1, which is always a bonus, all thanks to a well timed hairpin section as I mentioned earlier, couldn't have nailed it any better, I have been faster at T1 before, faster by a whole .1 infact when I did a high .5xx T1 earlier in my first session, but it was during my second session that I really discovered exactly what was necessary for the hairpin section, especially the second last hairpin approaching the back straight, thats a critical one as you need to use gear 1, and thus, feathering of the throttle becomes paramount.

 thats exactly the place i lost it for you.. until there i was in front. if you watch my replay you will see me using the handbrake to redirect the front of the car to the inside of the corner..

anyway.. your time is stupendous.. ill need luck in the hairpins to beat it ;)

Edit: thats it. im on the limit now. i've tried with clutch and i think there's more 2 tenths avaiable (i wont bring it to here though) i know without clutch i could shave a bit here or there but beside the limit is close im out of time too.. well done Dan top stuff 👍

Good combo:tup:, once again my thumb isnt doing me any favours[still pretty painfull and nowere near healed] but anyway first go i did a late 1'07.

Improved to a 1'07.012. Really want to break into the 6's. I've been ahead of Dan's ghost just after the T1 split. But then it just disappears.

Ok, As you all know race 12 is DOUBLE POINTS. I'd like to know some suggestions. It won't be the F2007, GT by citroen or at Daytona oval.
