I don't dislike the design overall, dare I say I kind of like it, more so if I can trick my eyes into ignoring some of the complicated and fussy details.

That name though... how unfortunate. So being LaFerrari, this must be The Ferrari then? What happens when they release their next halo car in 10 years or so? I would imagine that car to be a better performing car than this. What would they call that car, likely the best performing road-going Ferrari to date? "Oh I know! Let's call it THE Ferrari! Err, wait, hang on..."

Agree. It's probably even worse. I'd imagine it as a three-way tussle between aerodynamicists, stylists and engineers.

Don't forget manufacturing!

-> Then the "California", I'm still looking the real alpha-numerical number of the damn thing! :grumpy:

Didn't think California was such a strange name for the type of car it is (it's a strange looking car though, or pig ugly in other words), it was clearly aimed to evoke the gorgeous 250 GT California.

I'm struggling however why they thought La Ferrari was a good idea, I mean it wasn't just one person who thought it sounded right but it must have passed through a lot of others too who agreed.
Unless it was suggested by Luca di Montezemolo himself and nobody dared to question it.

^ I already know anout the reason why they name California on the new car. What I'm implying is that usually in a normal Ferrari sense, they should at least call it the Ferrari 460 California. :indiff:

^ I would think Ferrari has a mafia-like bussiness structure, just like Enzo and his ego-centric cronies...this make me like Ferrari less now. Thinking that everyone has to go their way not much else. They apply it on F1 and now on the automotive landscape, it seems like they bullys now. :grumpy:

The car just release weeks ago, now we already have a fan render of the possible extreme version. LaFerrari EVOXX.

The FXX still looks 100 times better, and the sound and brutal acceleration of it makes people just go wow. I don't know how this car sounds or how fast it really is but i hope it's going to be really good like the FXX

It will probably smash on the FXX, which I know sounds impossible due to the sheer speed of the FXX. I think both look amazing in different aspects, but I wouldn't put the FXX over the F70/LaFerrari.

I've got to admit the F70 has really grown on me I really like it now but, the small wheels still bug me.

El LaFerrari was actually going to be called the F150, but Ferrari suddenly decided to change it's name? WHY?

Also, the rear looked sooooo much better:

I'm willing to bet its because of the legal nonsense they already got into with Ford for having a vehicle that shares the same name as "America's Best selling truck".

A litigation war with Ford was not gonna end well for Ferrari.:sly:

What on God's green earth is wrong with F70? So it's not actually a 70 year anniversary...who honestly cares? LaFerrari is a stupid, awful name. And who decided to change the rear end? It looks beautiful in the above screen grab. It's not terrible on the final product, but it is worse for no immediately apparent reason.

Some may not agree with me on this point, but I think many will. Current F1 cars are the ugliest they have ever been, even uglier than the early experimental days of wings and such. If that notion can be accepted, why on earth is Ferrari trying to make their road car look like their F1 car? There is a huge amount of visual tension in the design. The basic form is really a beautiful shape, probably the best Ferrari has come up with in decades. However, it is essentially ruined by all these gratuitous F1 pieces. That stupid front wing, the narrow vent in the front, and the absurdly awkward rear 'column.' Ferrari almost nailed it with this car, but missed the mark trying to, yet again, make an open wheeled F1 car out of a closed wheeled GT car.

How did someone at Ferrari not see that mistake before putting it on the back of their new car?

What is more strange is why they would name it after their F1 car from 2011, when that is what originally got Ferrari in legal trouble. Thus having to change the F1 car name to F150th Italia and then finally settling with Ferrari 150° Italias. So for them to name the F70 likewise to the 2011 competition car is beyond me...

As pointed out, F150 was changed for very obvious reasons, i.e. Ford.

And I actually prefer the production car's rear, to this. Interesting to see the WIP rear, none the less.

Form over function. Sports car makers main goal has always been to make a bigger, faster product. Outdue thier previous effort, and their competitors with each new vehicle.

It's been like that since forever.

Road cars have always borrowed ideas, and tech from race cars and programs to make a better road car. So naturally, Ferrari would use the resources and knwolegde gained from countless successful F1 ventures, and use them on their cars. The Enzo Ferrari was a prime example. It looks more like an F1 car than the LaFerrari does at any angle.

So while you may not like the design, every portion of the car serves a purpose pretty much.

Bisecting the column on the back of the car for the purpose of fitting the number plates is an engineer's lazy solution. Or worse, a bean counter's.
