Never ever ever ever ever !
I was playing Prologue last night as I do everynight. Everything was going fine until about an hour into playing time I finished a race on Fuji 800pp. Having been beating by one of many Ford GT LM's I decided to fine tune my settings on my S2000 GT1 and go back into the race. When I pushed the Start button it started its normal loading process of player matching......but everytime it came close to JOINING RACE it would come up with the usual error code [29:0000000000] cannot connect ot host. This went on for Half an Hour which really got up my nose. (Like everyone in a Ford GT1 LM Cutting across the grass like they own a Combine Harvester) I gave up on it after getting bored of having to wait for the server to sort itself out.

I beleive that as we get closer to the release of GT5 it becomes harder and harder to join a race in any World Events. I would just like to know if anyone else is going through the same thing on any Event Race.

Do you think that PD are using the same Server to test GT5 online before its release or is there something else going on??

NTSC region is nearly broken at the moment. With 10-20 drivers trying to match at the same time (last night, Fuji RWD), typical matching would have a grid of 8-13 showing ... then a race of 2-5 happens and the rest of the drivers post FTC in the chat.

Not entertaining, and this sort of thing has been happening since the "maintenance" of a couple weeks ago.

I've been having this trouble for a week or 2, its the most annoying thing in the world because it seems to be taking longer to match players then when it finally says "joining race" nothing happens for at least 30 secs and 6 out of 10 times it says "can't connect to host" and before anyone says, yes I have checked my connection & it's fine.

Also last night on Eiger when I joined a race it wouldn't let me race it just showed the shots of the track like when you select start race or quick tune but about 8 others were racing, that happened twice. With the launch of GT5 just around the corner I want to play Prologue more but with this 🤬 going on it makes me not want to bother.

I had it last night too... took 15 to 20 minutes to get into a race... and I live in a PAL region... I think it was either busy, even though it only showed 1 man in the icon next to the event or theres just connection issues because its a world event? Im not sure.. I hope it doesnt stay like this... Suzi 800PP is a fantastic race :)

I was having the same problem for a couple of hours this afternoon. I just turned my PS3 and modem on and off and it was fine after that. Although, it could just be a coincidence.

Had this last night AGAIN... to the point where I only got "failed to connect" and then after 10 tries when it DID finally connect I ended up in a race with one or two others!! I was ready to go through the roof... FIX IT PD!!!

Surely this type of thing is not good for the PS3 as I find a lot of times the PS3 freezes and you have to either quit the game or turn it off and then on again. Does this not over heat the PS3 as it has to work twice as hard?

Seems to be restricted to GT5P - After several failures I thought sod it, if I cant race I am going to shoot, loaded up COD4 and have had no issues connecting. After an hour or so I tried to get back into GT5P and got the FTC!!!

The only way I can put up with this **** is by prentending to myself that this is somehow related to upgrades for GT5 later in the year......

Same here (NTSC), while I got tired of unsuccesfully matching in the Pro races, I figured a few beginner Daytonas might give me a quick fix. Six host failures, one birds eye view race, a freeze at the beginning, and finally got 1 race in.

I'm not sure if it makes the PS3 work harder(Gets Hotter) but I dont like when it freezes either. Any machine that freezes makes you wonder if it has or will damage it. It happened to me last night and so I just decided not to play anymore.

Well again I have been trying to get some playing time on GT5P but as usual now it still says Error Connecting to Host. I have been able to get into the race on Fuji and other tracks but on Fuji everyone gets to the first corner and keeps going as the server has gone down. I have had only one race in 24hrs and thats not good.

Anyway I'm going to try again a couple of more times and if still no luck I'll play Supercar Challenge Beta.

I'm getting the treatment now. ugh.

Could not connect for the past 20 times. This is ridiculous.

I get some error code with my current tag of solarr. I read it somewhere on Playstation network after i typed in the error code to search. I had to start an new tag and download the packet from GTPlanet and everything works normally again. I still can't logon under the old tag though. I figured whenever the next updates come, everything will work normal again...... Just a little inconvenient for the time being that's all.

I just read through what you guys went through and it happened with me initially the same way. Then one day I simply can't get on the playstation network with my old tag. Once I've created the new tag i can now get on, but the lack of people racing in each room is still an issue. It's a shame since 800 at Suzi is a blast. Hope this will help anyone that is still having the same issue.

this is getting ridiculous, instead of 3 or 4 races an hour at fuji, you're lucky if you get 1 after the fails, and freezes. It's putting me off racing online to be honest. Is there anywhere we can register out displeasure to Sony/PD, even better if we could do it as a forum given the size of our membership and the number of people experiencing issues. I preffered it when individuals hosted, sure it was annoying when the odd one pulled the plug if they were losing but I got far more races using that system. Currently it is a complete joke at times

These connecting issues are a 🤬 🤬 🤬

Totally pathetic when you think of the people that work for Sony and PD and you would think they could resolve these issues. I say bring back the old way of hosting before this so called "system upgrade" was put into the works

In the NTSC region, you (well, someone in the NTSC region) get on the Official Playstation forum.
Scroll way down to "Contact Us"
In there, click "Send an email to Consumer Services".

Not sure about Europe.

I have had no issues connecting, no more than any other time at least.

If you are TextChatting while matching then you might be causing the problem. While using this feature is better than sending PM's back and forth, it seems to mess up the connection for some reason.

Yes I too have thought about the possibility that the Chat network activity is hampering race matchup. I have been a spectator in many races and it is quite possible that the chat has something to do with it. If this were so, I'm sure that the problem would be easily solved:)👍

Well new race updates have come through and still no fix for the Matching Problem. Have been trying for 45minutes and have only had one race in 750pp Suzuka with myself and two others. [60:290000000][60:290000000][60:290000000][60:290000000][60:290000000][60:290000000] is the order of this game until GT5 comes out.

Other events are doing the same thing. I dont text chat so that is not th problem. PD PD PD PD PD What a tangled web they are weaving.

I'm having no problems. Fix your router.

What a helpful response

There have been quite a few problems matching online lately, just ask anyone trying the 512 race at Fuji last month. It seems to have been since PD started hosting races themselves instead of one of the competitors hosting. Lots of people getting fed up with the disconnect, failed matching and appearing as a spectator in a race problems.

I thought I was the only one having this problem. I tried disconnect other device using the router. I dont know whether there's any relation but it helps

It's clear that you can read English but you dont understand English and the context I worded everything........Read it again JohnHannibal and you will see that it has nothing to do with my router as this used to happen last year when I first started playing but not as and so severe as it is now. :dunce::dunce:

Anyway, I have no problems with any other games with the exception of GTAIV which happens to anyone playing that game when playing online.

Different day same shhh!!

I put GT5P into my PS3 an hour ago, this is the first time i have played in months, guess what? i am having exactly the same problems as you

So don't go messing with your router or anything else because that is not the problem.

can anyone explain how is exactly the connection between users during online races? is it through dedicated servers or directly peer-to-multipeer. so we can trace where the bottleneck is..
