For what it's worth Blitz, I tried that already and it had no effect whatsoever. I am now hardwired directly to the modem and I still have the problem as much as when I was connected wirelessly :grumpy:

Same here, seems to be no matter what you try, the problems persist :grumpy:

These problems were very much in evidence again tonight, even though I think of all the Friday nights I've raced there were fewer people trying to connect than ever before from here.

All the best

Just for clarification .... if there are no others matching to a room at that time, you will get a notification of "Matching Unsuccessful". The game automatically starts the matching process again (and again until someone enters the room with you).

This is not the same as "Failed to connect to host" message which is the problem being discussed here :) After this error mesage, you have to click "OK" and then it will start a rematching process. Again, this has nothing to do with there not having people out there to race with :nervous:

Yep, I'm aware of that. There were actually a few of us in the GTP chatroom trying to connect to each other and it just wasn't happening. I was just saying that it was even more surprising seeing as how there were so few of us actually trying to connect to each other anyway compared to some months ago. Maximum grid size I've seen all week at Suz 550 is 6.

Who races 550pp events anyways these days, come to the dark side and try 800 & 750 events. :sly:

But seriously, I just wanted to add something here, I noticed I get those fail - connects a lot right after tuning my car, but if I go and save game before actually joining a race, I most likely will succeed joining ... so, umm well it's a glitch and a very annoying one, I think...

Note: I'm aware this is not the only reason to cause this issue, just wanted to say what I noticed, might be helpfull. 👍

I'm sorry I misunderstood what you were saying :) What you say now makes perfect sense and does add more mystery to this otherwise baffling dilema.

Best also,

Possibly stranger: Friday night on NTSC HSR 700, there were three groups of ten organized to race for a couple hours. Groups 1 and 3 had no major problems, missing just one driver in one race and the other races going off fine. Group 2 only got their full ten together once in the two hours, the remainder being splits and/or Failed-To-Connects.

This whole thing is just soooo weird. I have heard at least a dozen theories. I hadn't played Prologue in many months because of the problem and then 2 days ago, after reading this thread I decided to fire it up again. I tried what one GTP member suggested and deleted all Prologue data (game save and data) and started fresh from the beginning. Didn't work 100% but I managed to get in a few races.

Then yesterday morning I started playing on my Team ID account (which I had given up on months prior). I kept getting matched race after race. They were boring, one and two player races but I kept at it simply due to the novelty of actually getting into a room time after time. I took a dinner break and came back to it ..... 12 hours later and 1.3 million credits, I was still matching in every race !

Then, at 8:40pm I got an XMB message from a friend at the same moment my matching went to "Joining Race" ..... I got my first "Fail to Connect to Host" in 12 hours. I spent the next 40 minutes rematching and got one Failed to Connect after another .... 6 in a row !! I did a reboot of the PS3 with the main power switch on the back (waiting over a minute) and brought it back up. Never had another Fail to Connect the rest of the evening :nervous:

There are so many possibilities and theories but I don't think anyone really understands what's going on here. I just wish Sony / PD would fix it 👎

Ok guys I think I have foound a solution around the Error Matching. Set the time on your PS3 to the internet time. Go to Time and Date Settings and Set Via Internet time.

I did this and as soon as I did that I was able to get into a race. Now this will not work everytime because the second time I tried to get in I got the usual failed to connect to host. But it's worth a try.

Let me know how it goes.

I've never had this problem, at least not when it was my internet being silly. My clock is set to internet time if that's any help.

I live in New Zealand (which I think is PAL) and I sometimes have the "Error Connecting to Host" problem. But I just click retry and I'm up and running again.

Since you have never had this problem, I'm now wondering if it could be down to the console. I've had my PS3 since its launch so its the 60GB. Never had any problems with it and I'm quite happy. But maybe this affects those of us with the first PS3 60BG and the others that were sold say a year later with the 40GB, 80GB.

There are many players out there who say that they dont have the Error Connection.....or maybe they dont have as much as others. I know its not the Internet connection because I have tried using my PS3 at my friends and my brother's house and it the same thing. All sorts of senario's are out there from the Online ID to changing your Router settings.

PD are using the same game servers to test GT5 I think. This is why we are having a hard time getting any Online racing done.

I did have my first one the other day, but it immediately tried again and it worked. I have a 80GB 3 week old ps3. In the UK. Hopefully you guys can work it out.

Toaday was a good day on GT5P. For the first time in 5 Months I have been able to get some online racing done wtihout those annoying Error Messages.

Yes today has beeen great and a huge improvement on what has been going with GT5P in recent months. As I still try to get to grips with connecting I'm glad to see that there are still quite a lot of people still loggin on to play. Now maybe its because of the time of day that I logged on, but then again maybe not. Beacause normally after an Hour it would start to give the Error message again but not today. The only way to see if this problem has been fixed for me is to try again tonight at any point in time to see if this was just a one off. My weekend now will be dedicated to see how long this will last.

Have PD been listening to us??

Well Friday was brilliant. Sat and Sun was rubbish........until i took my PS3 to one of my other friends house. Turned on the console....put GT5P in and it connected right away and still is as i'm typing!

So its not the consoles-120-80-60-40Gb. But it may have something to do with location and your actual broadband speed. My friends is much faster than mine, but he lives less than mile away.

Well i'm off to enjoy some more racing while i can get it.

Here's something.......go to your friends house with your PS3 and use their Broadband connection to test this out. You never know.
