today i was rummaging through my closet and found all my old hotwheels cars. i found one called the hyperliner that looks alot like the espace f1 or based off of it. i couldn't remember what the topic was called where everyone was talking about the espace f1 but atleast i remembered the topic itself and i thought that this would be interesting.

Ahhh Hotwheels®. Alas, here my obsession with cars started years before Gran Turismo was even a concept...:) Even the mighty Kazunori must have had an addiction just like ours to create such a mighty game.

Hot wheels eh I used to love those alot when I was kid they are also one of the main things that started my love for cars:) I remember I used to get those every year for Christmas and my birthdays and every time I got one I loved it every way as much as the first time I got them. I also loved to play with them on the tracks they made for them for hours on end. I even used to like to paint them with moms nail polish. Kids are so easily amused:rolleyes: Sigh; those were the good ole days.:P

omg dude. i used to do the same exact thing. whenever id go to the local store with my mom the first thing i said was "can i get a hotwheels car" :dopey: the ones that i loved, noone but me could touch. i also used to take my sisters nail polish and paint the cars i thought were so so. id take the hotwheels tracks and roads and make races and scenerios. it was basically a big movie. if i need a crashed car, id take one i didn't like as much as the others, hit it with a rock a couple of times, then take my moms eyelash darkener ( or whatever its called ) and make tire marks on the side. i even once sprayed a snow plow car with athletes foot spray because i wanted it to look like snow had fallen on it. without hotwheels cars i probably wouldn't be the huge car enthusiast i am today. I dont know about you guys but while everyone else was amazed playing with pokemon and baseball cards i was still playing with my hotwheels cars and legos. :D

ahhhh.... the good old days when a couple of hotwheels cars and a great imagination could entertain for hours or days on end.

You when you were younger remind me of myself when I was younger thats so neat:dopey: MMM I actually kinda miss those days with all the magic you feel as a kid I know it sounds kinda korny but oh well:embarrassed: But yeah that does look a lot like the Renault Espace FI intereasting.

OMYGOD and I used to paint my fingnernails with my sis'ters nail polish! :embarrassed: Then we used to have a pillow fight!!! It was so rad!11 Uh, am I in the right forum :guilty: oops

No but seriously, my love of Hot Wheels & Matchbox & legos morphed into a serious addiction to AFX/Aurora slot cars with a few Tyco models as well. We used to actually spray the track with water to simulate rain (kinda like the wet track in GT3 & 4). :) My brother & I used to spend bucks from our dismal paper route on car after car. We had a pit stop, garage, little HO-scale trees & people :D

That morphed into Tamiya radio-control cars. Those were the days for sure.

Then I discovered girls...and my parent's liquor cabinet! We won't go there... ;)

Ha! Losers! I painted them with REAL paint. And a third of them actually turned out pretty good! I remember a Dodge Charger R/T concept with a purple/gold swirl paintjob, a black Mustang... And I used to create scenarios too... except I used a sledgehammer.:mischievous:.

Ah, I miss that sledgehammer...

I got that car, all diffrent paint jobs, and the bings version too. Yes, I am a hardcore collector of them, and I have a collection of over 700 cars.

and yes, I thought the same thing the first time I saw one, that I thought the Espace F1 was the inspiration.

ah, the sledgehammer. i was sinister with the cars i didnt really like. my father, being a carpenter, had a shed full of tools and hammers and drills and some things i didnt even know what they were. If i was going for a full destruction i used to squeeze them in a vice grip, hit them with a hammer or sledgehammer, put lighter fluid on them and burn them, or put them in like a camp fire (whenever we had them) then find the melted metal the next morning. i guess thats what also made me a pyro :mischievous:

As my dad let me experiment a little more he let me use some paint . I had this cool matchbox chevy flatbed that was pretty big for a matchbox car. i painted it all black, painted the headlights red, then painted the bed with green flames. it looked crazy. ( I just remembered i used to experiment with chemicals like toilet cleaner, mouthwash, windex, and whatever i could find under the sink and mix it together. i guess that why im so crazy today . my parents flipped out when they found out.. sorry, random moment )

so many memories ..........

Me too...that fascination lasted longer than I'd care to mention to people in person.

Even the mighty Kazunori must have had an addiction just like ours to create such a mighty game.
Except, he probably created annoying license tests for his HotWheels.

I still am collecting. I actually have an original-production Ford J-car, as well as a Firebird and Cougar from the original series. found 'em at a Goodwill. a Quarter each. Can't beat that.

Oh yeah, visegrip .... watching the body get more and more out of proportion.... then the windows popped... then the rivets broke.... All that was left in the end was a flattened cube with headlights and fake plastic chrome embedded in, and a honeycomb pattern from the visegrip imprinted in it... :mischievous:....

Sledgehammer was more fun to me, but both had their fair share of kills...

I also made a snow garage (25-car! :dopey:) once with my friend, complete with ramps to the roof, racetracks, offroad track, and booby traps like softer areas of snow and slick ice on the ramps, and a tripwire that closed the garage door... And a hidden entrance... ah, memories....

If only I could do the same thing to the Maisto 1:64ths that I don't like... alas, both the visegrip and sledgehammer are gone now...

Burning them sounds fun though :dopey:

These were my first love. I literally created enough games with hotwheels/ matchbox, Kidco, Zenix, Majorate (sp. ?) and other brands of these miniture models to write a book.:scared:  I would have entitled it 101 games to play with your hotwheels.

We used the plastic car tracks as a means of propulsion, lifting the car up to the top of the track with one hand while holding the other end of the car track to the ground in the shape of a giant slide. I still have the rules and statistics of many leagues and tournaments of various competitions, from races, sports, derby competions and even the olympic events all done with hotwheels/Matchbox cars.

Some of my favorite games were:
1. Soccer with cars, using marbles and taped sidelines in the living room carpet, with campbells soup cans and a board over the top for goal posts. You position all your cars on your side to begin the game and one team gets to "kickoff" by holding a car at the top of a track with the marble "soccer ball" at the bottom and then releases the car to race down the track and strike the ball. If the ball does not go out of bounds or in the goal then whichever car is closest to the ball gets to "kick" the ball, using the same method. Goalies could "punt the ball" (keep the end of the track straight with no slide like bend at the end. This game is a great game. I still remember that the "Dixie Challenger" Daisy Dukes car from the Dukes of Hazard was one of the greatest shooters, as were porsh 911's, 959's and Audi s4's. 👍

2. Football
3. Boxing
4. Basketball (With a rubber bouncy ball which would fly into the air into a basket.
5. Olympic events with cars divided by their colors. lol.
6. Military War Strategy affectionately called "Break In". -excellent game
7. Siege (a castle assault game)- excellent game but more of a test of your cars ability to stay straight and knock another teams cars off a table.
8. Car-Bowl (Derby game)
9. The Auction Game. (Racing game involving the use of monopoly money to buy cars and enter the races with other competitors where money would be given for the top three finishers and used in subsequent auctions.
10. "Kidco" a racing game pitting the car companies against one another.

These are the top ten. If you want rules just ask, or more games.:sly:

PS: I plan to teach my son these games and play them with him when he is old enough.

Wow dude. that sounds wicked fun. I never got to playing alot of games but i used to have one of those carpets with a race track on it ( you know, the ones from home depot and other places ) and id set up races on them for hours at a time. id always put the cars i didnt like in the front at the beginning of the race and make my favorite cars ( in the back obviously ) create schemes and plots to wipe out the front cars, like crossing in between the track at large u turns and side swipping the lead car, lol.

Sadly as a kid i was big into nascar. ( my favorite was jeff gordon. everybody hated jeff gordon but my family for some reason ) anyways, my cousin and i would set up oval and maybe a couple hard turn tracks ( like watkins glenn and sears point <- now that other track, i cant believe i forgot what its new name is, its in gt4 ) out of the actual big split road peices. we had tons of nascars so we'd line up a field of about 20 to 25 and have races that would go on for sometimes over 2 hours and either jeff gordon or his partner ( i forgot ) would always win.

I just went through my collection ( in a box ) and took out all the special ones to me or the ones in good condition to be bagged ( put in a sandwich bag, staples to seperate atleast 3 cars straight in and one sideways.) i want to share them with you and since this topic is now more about hotwheels cars and memories im going to take pictures of my special and favorite ones and add captions for each picture. hope you will like them. ( this might take a while because my moms camera only holds ten pictures because she took out the memory card to be loaded onto the computer.

lastly, did anyone here ever play at planethotwheels.com. i used to sit and play that game from when i got up until night time running the same race against the computer. i had the really expensive blue escalade with huge rims ( i have it in real life as you will see) and i had the really expensive funny car, along with a cheaper car i started out with of course. id be in first place on the daily leaderboards for points almost everyday id be on the game. my name was silly but i remember it being bigmastap. kinda silly i used to be a huge wigger and called myself masta p because my initials are MP. ( from then started the dark ages of constant playing of nfsu and especially nfsu2 online, lol)

Nice find there! I have millions of Hotwheels models, then I moved onto AA & Exoto :P I'm looking out for this one.

this is going to take a while because theres about 54 pictures :D

mmm chocolate

my first two hotwheels cars

crazy design, i never played with it. just kept it because it looked cool.

wow, talk about big engines. one is a matchbox the other is a majorette

i regret destroying these. as you can see, their last use was in a rally where i used brown clay, they both crashed as you can also see because theyre covered in clay.

I would have never known about this if it wasnt for gt2

two of my drag cars. the orange willys is special because the wheelie bar folds back up into the car.

the one, the only, the oscar mayer weiner car.

john force is my favorite

a classic. ( way2fast )

i regret destroying this to. it looked wicked cool and it did use to have a spoiler. it was used for a crash where it slid on it side on the tires and flipped over as you will see in the next picture.

see the tires

offroading car

used to represent europe in races. mclaren is european right? usually crashed or came in 2nd

also used to represent europe in races, always came in around 3rd or 4th

i like how the trunk opens. represented america in the races. usually was more of a suicidal car, took out the japanese or european competitors.

drag car. never won. either crashed or low placing.

used for drag. sometimes came out of nowhere and won the event or crashed and took out one of the other competitors.

when i saw it in gt1 i was like "hey i have that car" and i thought it was wicked cool, still do :D

never would have known it was american if it wasn't for gt4. used for races either as an anonymous or american car because i wanted it on my team :D sometimes won or was a high placing car

bought around the time i stopped playing with hotwheels and legos and went for all out ps2 on my free time. there were videos that came with these and i loved the videos. also had codes for planethotwheels.com

represented europe in the races. sometimes was a midlacing car or crashed. it was also known to have mechanical failure alot.

was in the group of newer cars i didnt use that much. in the few races it was in it represented japan ( i didnt know it was korean ) and always crashed or placed very low. even back then i didnt like japanese cars too much, except subaru ( which i thought was australian. outback-outback restaraunt  )

newer. drag or salt flat car. was more of a middle ranking car.

police and drag car. always broke up my street races and always crashed - let the racers run free, lol. what i dont get is it looks like an american muscle car but has japanese writing above the numbers on the hood :dunce:

just a chill around car. hung out at the race after parties

ahh deora. i always wanted the original color deora but never found one. this was another chill around party car.

these two cars and the hershey tractor trailer have grooved wheels.

never really used. just in good condtion. its hot pink :embarrassed:

if you couldnt realise it yet it raced for america. mid placing car. weird because its a rwd ptcruiser

isnt this a real drag car. i used it for a drag car. i new it was american but i always made it crash because it looks silly with the enormous spoiler.

raced for america. always placed high with its twin that was a different color. i dont have it here because it is in so so condition and its paint scheme was white and a little gold ( a bit boring to me )

raced for japan in races, drag, and offroad. never really won or placed high. usually wiped out but continued racing with little damage.

monopoly car. came with a gold monoply piece shaped like that car. raced for america and placed high. i just love how it looks with the black and yellow.

raced for europe. crashed alot. ive never really seen the actual car until i recently watched teckademics gumball 3000 2003 today. ( on a side note: i encourage everyone to watch the teckademics mischief invasion and mischief destroy )

two cool vehicles. never used them, kept them because theyre cool.

never knew about morgan until some british guy showed a concept for the new one in a myspace group im in. this car, as you can see, was another one of my firsts. got alot of use.

one of my many tow trucks. the bed in the back folds up. used for 2 car or more serious crashes. ( side note: when a car crashed it was a big scene, ambulances, tow trucks, the works. i had two contsruction vehicles with adjustable " scoopers " i dont know what theyre called which would be used to flip a car back over.)

drag and salt flat car. would always be winning then in the second to last or last round would catch some big air and then crash wicked bad. this cars crashes were always extremely big.

cool car. never used alot. the rear tire, one tiny thin plastic disk, broke anyways so there was a huge flat spot on the tire so it couldn't roll.

raced for america. always broke down especially at the start. breakdown at start was inspired by the starting video for nfs high stakes for ps1.

hotwheels blimp. this one side you could turn the back and another hotwheel sign would show up which you will see in the next picture.

see

the other non moving side

the perfect pair. wasnt intentional either, the little car was on one of my birthday cakes. the bigger car was also a drag and salt flat car like its red twin and usually placed near its red twin to.

the fate of all the cars above. all drag and the corvette raced also. all high placing cars. the chevys usually beat the ford ( the left red one, its a thunderbird ) because im more of a chevy fan than ford, but im not one sided like most people, i like both companies the same.

the real hotwheels car was a salt flat car. the top comes off like the hyperliner. the other two are just two big cars i got for my birthday or something when i started to be a wigger. ( the f&f got to me but i finally came to my senses 2 or 3 years ago.)

the blue escalade i was talking about

some of the new ones. the imports with the huge turbos usually blew up or placed either low or middle.

all drag cars and the two ferraris raced for europe. they usually placed high or sometimes won. the red car dragged and usually won. the charger and gto were also drag cars but were usually mid placing cars.

The diablo, corvette, and ferrari were all drag but mostly race cars. the corvette would place in the mid-high range, diablo was usually high placing or sometimes won. the ferrari, like its twin, also tended to place high or sometimes crashed. the two other cars were party cars.

the two "tow jam" cars got alot of use in single car crashes and 3 or more car crashes. the eclipse raced for japan and always place low-mid. the two ferraris raced for europe and both of them usually found themselves in a ditch. the orange car, being more of a lowrider, would occasionaly drag and place low but was mostly a party car.

a mini ferrari, dont know where i got it but ive had it forever

the rest of my cars

well there it is. i know i had WAY more special cars that i loved alot but i cant find where they are or with my stupidity they met their end in either a campfire, trade, or being stolen by my cousin. ( i know of only one car he stole from me. but i suspect more) i also have a holder with a bunch of nascars i will show you so they may even be in their.

Damn it, where were you 5 years ago when I still played with those?

Now I still do, but not in public... and its no fun alone :(

We had games like battle-destruction derbies too and kinda unorganized tourneys, but far less cars, less games and less fun...

lol, i think i was still playing with them 5 years ago. its just seems like so long ago to me. after this thread i was thinking about going out to walmart and buying some new ones (not the crazy ones) to race them on my tracks ill have to pull out of the garage.

i think it will be fun playing with them by myself. i have nothing better to do. its wicked hot all the time in florida so going outside is something i rarely do ( its still like 80 degrees and its the frikin winter.) im just not used to it because i used to live in NH. (even right know im sitting here at my computer sweating my but off and my cealing fan is on high 24/7) all i do all day is sit on my computer, talk back and forth on myspace forums and gtplanet and play ps2.

i could even get into stop motion and create a whole 5 or 10 minute race. that sounds liek a good idea.

while looking through my nascar collection im sitting on a rednecks gold mine. skittles car (no longer racing), jeff gordons old car, special versions, dale earnhart seniors car ( before he died ), macdonalds car (no longer racing), jeff gordons pepsi version, jeff gordons looney tunes version, hendrick racing car, and countless of other retired cars, brands, and drivers. im probably already sitting on a couple grand with the nascars. im also sitting on about $700 in beanie babies, and i have other things like a disney cruise watch in mint condition from 2004 and teh box was signed by the captian. if i wait about 20 years ill have some good money from all this stuff.

sorry for the very long responses and random thoughts

I still do too. alot of cars I have I ended up seeing them on TV. Like the Panoz LMPs(I have three of those) I end up two years later seeing them in the ALMS in 2003. I even painted one of them to make it look like the JML Team Panoz cars and it looked awesome. Last year I got the Corvette C6, 2006 Dodge Viper, the Ferrari 512M, The Pikes Peak Tacoma, and later for my birthday the Corvette C6R.
