Nice to read the write-up, Curtis :sly: Although you didn't make it to the finals, the racing must have been unforgettable! At events like this it ain't all about winning. The experience is all

I think Dan should come to Seattle come August and race against Curtis and myself to practice :sly:...
PFFT!!!!! Any MYSELF. Jeez. Trying to make me sound so slow that I can't help them practice...

hey guys, not back yet, but almost, stuck in malaysia on a delayed flight.

well thouroughly enjoyed the experience, i had a great time! cant write too long cos this keyboard is totally ruined, but i will say that i was happy with my finishing position considering it was my first lan comp and yeah, after hearing that the lan mode is completely different to single race mode, there went 10 hours of practice

skip to the final, and here is how it went, for starters, i felt like **** that day, didnt sleep much, and didnt eat much, throught the trip which explains why i am so gaunt looking!! but anyway, i was ushered to my seat 25 mins after the 3 french guys started their qualifying i was extremely confident i would cream them all in it, and thats exactly what i did, i had a 6'02.6xx dirty though and i felt as if i could repeat that lap but i had let the timer run out so i had to simply complete 1 lap in order to get a time in! i was not nervous and i took it easy and did a 6'04.453, pushing nowhere, conserving at the end, it was .25 faster that carters time, i came 1st
final had arrived, i was seated, and all of a sudden th e race started, and with no warmup, which was very dissapoitning as i had done nothing in lan mode at the nurb.... i started ok, didnt feel nervous at all, made mistakes b4 T1 just getting used to the hards, as apposed to the softs i had just used, ok, just b4 the race started, the ref told me that i wasnt allowed to use the grass on the fast right after T1, which i had used in qualifying, so i totally ****ed up that corner, didnt brake enough b4 the jump, and i landed terribly unstable, was an absolute fluke that i managed to hold onto it, lost .4 but su[prisingly no one challenegd me down that next straight, passed T2, did that section nicely, ok going dow the straight which leads to T3, carter caught up and was drafting me there, i had moved to cover the inside but i didnt move all the way as i always stay out wideish in preparation for the left over the hill, so he basically took that little gap there was and decided to try and pass me just b4 the left kink in the road, he didnt succeed in doing it cleanly however, and he made contact with my left rear just as i was truning left, hence i lost the rear, and spun out into the side wall, i tried to regain it as best i could, but i failed and lost a hell of a lot of time, i had a **** feeling, was kinda pissed ! if ya know what i mean, anyway, passed T3 after regaining control and saw 6 secs gap to 1st, i said hmm ok, i'll c what happens, its not over yet, and indeed it wasnt, i caugfht up that gap and was drafting 3rd on the final straight on lap 1, they double teamed up and out drafted me their, i decided to sit back in 4th and see what happens. passed line, lap 2 started, made a bad error i T1 sector, lost a second, then proceeded to loose more and more as i lost focus, i was angry about the initial incident so it just made me rush things, and push too hard, i was well behind, and then carter spun out and b4 thefinal straight so i was in 3rd, i said yeah, 3rd thats not too bad, couldntally see myself getting 2nd as i wasnt concentrating that much, and i was having a **** race, i just wanted it to finish. my lack of training ****ed me up on the blind fast left/right b4 T4, and i toally missed it and i hit the rumble on the right part, and i was bouned off in the wall, damn that was a dissapointing error, carter passed me and i was slotted in 4th again, it was all over, i made another mistake after T6 and smashed into carter, definitely then i was destined 4 4th, a well, itried my best but fell short in the end due to the initial crash, i felt as if that didnt happen, i would have won from their, as i was just getting used to the car by that stage, and the next section b4 T3 really gets u in the groove in terms of the cars handling, as there a few left right combos their.......in concluding, **** happens,eh? and will mention gpkart for helping me get by okay after i lost my wallet on the first day....and all my money also...gpkart, ur a funny bastard! had fun meeting hotboi and the others, a shame there wasnt much beer left on the after party! we'll c what happens next time, cya later fellas!

(6)Fuji, before the race started, me and Dan knew it was going to come down to whoever finishes ahead of eachother, and we didnt expect DunnoHate to do anything about this, But once the race started, Dunno was in the mix with me and Dan, and for the whole duration of this race it was a 3 way battle for 2nd, with so much on the line.........
- there were 3-4 occasions on the final 2 corners of the track, where Dan felt i was bumping him, but he was leaving alot of room on the inside each and everytime ~ and the bumps were at such a small difference in speed, it never made too much of a difference, they were nudges
- i eventually made a 3 car length gap on Dan and Dunno hate on something like the 3rd last lap.... But with Dan and Dunno in the slipstream they were coming in very quick, i had a lead ~ so i decided to take the first corner just a tad bit slower then normal.... and then i got nailed by Dan sending me into the grass on the exit, i was trying to turn back into the track, but it wasnt turning in ~ so i had to goto the left till i got onto the run-off concrete to beable to turn back in...
- Dan eventually got Red-flag'd for this contact, which caused me to think i was finishing ahead of him and i was totally fine.....................
- so i was still chasing DunnoHate after he gap'd me a bit after the contact, going to the first corner on the final lap, under braking my rear had a wiggle causing me to correct and i had to aim for the inside ~ almost T-boning DunnoHate............ we barely had contact it seem'd but i felt it was a questionable move down the inside, even tho it wasnt purposely done......
so i let off the gas to give up whatever time i could have caused DunnoHate to lose.......................... THIS WAS MY 2nd MAJOR ERROR ON MY PART, WHICH COST ME THE FINALS as on the final straight i wasnt in the slipstream to get 2nd....
- then there was a 3 way tie............ and i dont need to explain anymore....

This shot kind of sums it up the feelings and emotions after the Mt Fuji epic. Curtis does a one mile stare into the monitor knowing he's out of the competition, Dan packs up his gear thinking he's out of the competition.

Yay! First picture of Curtis! I was looking for one... Curtis, I feel for ya man! Next year though... :sly:

What first picture of Curtis ?
C'mon Kyle, Natalya had posted in January the pic below, where Curtis is standing next to you :)

Lol, true... I don't know how many other people saw that picture, but yeah. I was looking for one in the galleries from the ESWC though. :)

The pic, and almost a dozen other are still hosted at Bobkart's, and linked to in Nat's post in the old Chit chat thread in the archives.
