Ever wanted seamless shifting?

This is as close as we can get. This trick is fairly easy, and can ONLY be done on GT3.

First set your transmission type to MANUAL, then drive any car you like. Then whenever you are 400RPM away from redline, or at any higher RPM, just tap TRIANGLE just once as quick as possible. When you press that, it will automatically shift into the next gear, while you are still gaining constant speed, along with sounding exactly like an automatic. This trick is useful on liscense tests where you have to start from a stand-still like the B-8 Test, or just going for a little drag racing. It is recommended to only do this for the first 2 or 3 gears. But it is tough doing this on a F1. Also one tap on the triangle button while deccelerating will cause it to shift down to the appropiate gear for the speed you are going.

EDIT: Jeez, this forum is dead.

I know about this. They dropped it in GT4 for some reason. 👎

Eh. You give a thumbs down for removing a pretty serious glitch that involved shifting momentarily to reverse in the middle of flat out acceleration? I always thought GT was about being as realistic as possible... I guess I've been wrong for all these years.

 I'm pretty sure the transmission at say 180 MPH will just "explode" if you suddenly somehow got it into Reverse.

Oh, stop being so sarcastic. :grumpy: It doesn't shift into reverse at all while you're driving at full-speed. It shifts up instead (if your tach needle is sitting in the redline area, at least). If you're not redlining, it will momentarily disengage the clutch but you will stay in the same gear if you push the accelerator again.

I liked this feature because it was the only way you could disengage a front-drive clutch while you're driving. That's what sucks about GT4, you're always in gear in a FWD...no coasting. I occasionally like taking myself out of gear for whatever reason (if only to hear the crowd, tire, and wind noise). 👍

It was never about being as realistic as possible, at least after the first one. It was always about appealing to as many car guys as physically possible. Similar goals, slightly different outcome.

if it is supposed to be so realistic, then why would you even try hitting reverse while driving around any way?

Well that's kinda the point. It's not 100% realistic! But neither is driving 140 mph down the Route 246 straightaway while sitting in an EZ chair as your hungry cat jumps into your lap and your cellphone rings at your side.

haha thats good. true it is still fun to drive a 1000 hp supra 270 mph, slam on the brakes and fry the tires through every gear. meanwhile you are drinking a green apple jones soda.( ido this all the time) it's fun. vehicle abuse is awesome(in video games)(or rentals)

Mmmm....Jones Green Apple.

In my case, it's usually a beer or a glass of juice. My wireless keyboard for my WebTV is in my lap because I'm doing stuff online in between racing. And of course, I get all wound up during my race and my keyboard falls off my lap and knocks over my beer or juice. :ouch::lol:
