Everything Caterham: The Fireblade Challenge

I just came across the Caterham 7 today in the UCD and quickly fell in love with the machine because of its reminiscence to the Lotus 7 of back in the day. I've noticed though that it is easily one of the most difficult cars to drive smooth, and more importantly, fast. So here's the challenge, best tune/ best time around Deep Forest, no restrictions. I'm thinking the prize will be a big thumbs up 👍, but no seriously, how about that old Jaguar racer sound?

After 30 minutes or so of playin with it I'm down in the 1:14's, so I guess that's the benchmark. I'll need some sort of verification (ie. screen shot) and don't forget the tune! Remember the whole idea of this is to come up with the best possible set for what could be the most fun car in the game.

Update: Just ran a 14.596 still room for improvement

Yes amigo, exact.. 1'13 554 is OK ,but i finish fixing a speed 12 and i go there. With a tune for this now......

I've finish my sped 12, it's published allready, i go carterham now.. So ? still the 555???? what's going on??? let's go . atack.

ok it's good for me, tomorow under 1'13" ? for today 1'13" 122 time to beat!!!!! My settings are on my garage thread " carterham" in a few minutes.

The set I've got could easily drop below 1:13 if it had a better driver.... And I'm one step behind you every dang time... I finally got a 13'4...

You mean i'm a good driver and a bad tuner to do a time lke this on this thing.......hahaha. try my cars you'll see they are not so bad...

I'm about to actually. I'm interested to see where we differ. I went for a real solid ride myself, but I seem to recall you being into a little bit of a less grippy ride.

Praiano, I tried your tune, it works very well. The car no longer feels like I'm driving on ice. I'm not good enough to get below 1:15. One thing I noticed in your tune, the gear ratios did not line up in the settings menu, I will check them again tonight. Thanks for the tune, I'm going to try some of your other tunes.

Yes ,it's alway a mess. No prolem, do it yourself. Like this:

Set the Final speed first ,to a low value ( 1st quarter of the setting panel).
#6 gear to the max on the right
#1st gear minimum value left
#2/3/4/5 must be harmonious to see on the graphic between minimun & maximum value (+- every 2 graduations) and all this sound good on the track.....
#After that check the max speed you need , select your "final speed" to adapt to the track and do a fine tuning.

You're welcome my friend, to do a good time with this car ,stay on the asfalt,don't cut the corners. It is to light for this and you loose time doing this.

Here are some settings I worked for the 7... ran a 1'11.7, but will go at least .3 faster than that - I've killed my ghost in T1 on a few occasions and my final corner on the 11.7 lap is 4 mph below optimum.

I reckon this would run 10's with one of the really fast guys like Ramon or Zoky.

It's a tricky car to drive, so I'm attaching a replay for anyone that wants a bit of help on lines & driving style.

Should give you a max speed of 165 mph

I just managed a 1.13.8 but could go faster, just a quick question tho, are any of you using SRF? It makes such a big difference with the Caterham but I don't like to use it.

Dam, you guys are really on it, best i can muster is a 1.16! this car really is a challenge to drive around here, it's super lively around those up/down corners!

EDIT: Just did a 1:15.164 which im pretty proud of! Had it on 2 wheels on one of the corners which looked pretty spectacular on the replay haha! Running the close 6 speed transmission too, maybe need to invest in a fully custom one!

Stotty, your setup is brilliant feels alot 'tighter' definitely got my vote!

Fully tuned with RS tires. My best has been a 1:12.3, but Stotty shattered that time.

I wouldn't be too bummed about that. For 1, Slotty is fricken fast, and 2, So is 1:12.3.

yeah my set up is no where near that good best i ran was a 1,14 i dont think ill change the set up though. I like the way it drives, its very predictable and recovers easily from mishaps.
