i am wondering if any-one can assist me. i have completed all spec condition races on all three levels for 200 each. (mainly using the ram, sorry) but i am having trouble with george hard both ways. for some reason just can't get the ram to catch, let alone pass anything. i have all power upgrades and have played with the settings as much as i can but the blasted thing just wont go any faster than about 200 k-ph down the main straight and i should be able to get a lot more speed than that.

if any-one could provide any tips, tuning (of ram), or car alternative, it would be surely appreciated.

thanks in advance.
open addict.

Have you tried the Suzuki GS-X R4 with possibly Stage 1 Turbo and added ballast. That should do it for you.
nige

Following advice from here I used the Suzuki GSX-R/4 '01 for Special Condition Umbria, Capri and Paris. But I couldn't 'down tune' the car enough to get 200 a-spec points (or even close) in the Easy races. All I got was 66 at Umbria; 101 at Capri and 72/79 in Paris. I'm already on S1 with 200 ballast and took out all HP tuning like Turbo, exhaust, ...

For Normal and Hard the car is great.

Am I missing tuning opportunities or can someone recommend another car? And no, I don't want to use the RAM. Thanks in advance.

thanks nige, i will try the suzuki next time i feel the need. at the moment i am working through the dream car champ with a bmw race car for 200 points.

Hi vk. Have a look in the stockcar thread in this subforum. But I think it will be quite difficult to find something other than the RAM.

HI guys,
I`m trying do do all special conditions events. All on tarmac i`ve done, lots of easy dirt races i`m done, but medium and hard dirt races are to hard or me. I use fully tuned, a little over 500hp subaru impreza rally car prototype. I got setup for dirt tracks. When I enter race, it shows 1 point race, BUT i can`t do that. I`ve been driving one track for more than hour and no success. In almost every corner i fall out. And AI car goes so smoothly, like there is no physics on that car. I tried to hit track sides with my cars bottom so i don`t get 5sec penalty, little better, but not so good to finish first. If I drive clearly, then have to brake fast, and AI car can easily pass me. Are my driving skills very very poor if I can`t win medium and hard dirt rces with this subaru? or these are really hard to win?
I see that many used Dodge RAM, will try it later, maybe its easy to go with it, but as I said with subaru it `s going slippering from tracks one side to another and in corners i usually try to make it slide, but goes out, and wheel spin allways... ehhh. please advise car for seems laike real beginner! :)

By the way, I won Tsukuba Circuit (HARD) wet race with Skyline Vspec Nur edition 166 point race. I better drive on tarmac, not on gravel. Please advise easy to drive car for dirt hard races! Will try later Dodge RAM.

This thread is more for discussing 200pt A-Spec races, rather than easy cars to win races.

Extreme Hall : Gran Turismo All Stars
Mazda 787B Race Car '91 (Black used. No oil) R1 tyres. Minimum downforce.

vs. BMW V12 LMR Race Car '99
Toyota GT-One Race Car (TS020) '99
Nissan R390 GT1 Race Car '98
Toyota 7 Race Car '70
Peugeot 905 Race Car '92

(about 6-8 lineups in from reset, NTSC version.)

200 points per race. Have done first 5 so far, not expecting too much trouble from the rest either for a clean sweep.

*edit* Not too much trouble, although the Peugeot's total inability to see a car braking directly in front of him, especially at Suzuka and Nurburgring made these two races particularly frustrating, and required a lot of attempts to get right! :grumpy:

I found Tsukuba Wet, Hard to be an easy 200 point race in a Motul Pitwork Z on R5 tires. It hasn't had an oil-change (or chassis refresh) in thousands of miles, and that may be significant.

I thought I'd seen JGTC cars suggested for this race, but can't find it here.

Oh, I've not managed a penalty-free win, but often the opponent was to blame. This is against the Audi R8, by-the-way. (Although the Minolta Toyota seemed beatable, too, but perhaps harder to pass).

If I remember the trick with the Minolta is to play dirty. At the first corner with enough speed you can swipe him into the sand. You get a 5 second penalty but if you manage to stay on track you can be far enough ahead of him to keep the lead till the finish. He takes an age to get out of that yellow stuff.
If I am wrong perhaps somebody could correct me but I think that may be the way to beat him.
Good luck.

nige

I'm a so-so player. The Motul Pitwork Z on R5's is competitive enough that a good player should be able to beat the R8, and probably the Minolta Toyota too, without any explicitly dirty tactics.

Now, it might be difficult to avoid penalties altogether, because the AI will actually move back into your path at times. So, yes, you should try to be positioned when passing so you can come back smoothly while the AI can't. The R8, at least is going very slowly in some corners (not to mention you're going pretty slowly, too) so a 5 second penalty actually doesn't cost all that much.

Hmm. Rereading I guess the Motul Pitwork Z isn't too different from the Mazda RX-8 LM Edition. Well, the specs for the latter are "secret".

Eventually I found...
What car to use to win Tsubuka Circuit wet (hard) in Special Conditions?
in the main forum (old thread).

But no-one there explicitly suggested that using the under-powered JGTC cars was approaching a too-easy cheat for 200pts. (I use ASM and TCS as well, which obviously helps, and some may consider that to be a cheat. (And others consider to be a hindrance)). As I said elsewhere, the combo JGTC (Motul Pitwork Z), Tsukuba Wet, R5 tires and speed setting "10" is a too easy way to get 200pts for your Family Cup race.

and some may consider that to be a cheat
The object of this quest is to get max points. Some races unfortunately require unsportslike behaviour to win them. Those with >100K points know that and no one frowns on it. I wouldnt worry about it.
Nowhere in this subforum or the old thread does it mention ...
No NOS to be used
No dirty tactics to be used
No TCS ASM whatever to be used
No (fill in your own option)

Of course we (should) all try to keep the races as clean as possible. Using TCS & ASM is not cheating, its just as clean as adding weight or putting extra miles on your car to get max points.
:)

AMG.

Adding weight or putting miles on the car legitimately affect the evaluation. A heavier car is supposed to be harder to drive fast. (Now perhaps their evaluation is off, but...)

Putting miles on the car simliarly reduces power. (You don't get additional premium just because of the mileage, do you?)

TCS is using a facility not available for many real-life historical cars, and banned by many real-life regulations. ASM is using a semi-fictionalized implementation of a rare real-life facility.

I think there are qualitative differences in the different techniques.

This thread is short, so I'll leave this digression here.

Just won my first ever 200pt race (using this method of finding the points, I did win a race or two in the Speedster event on my first GT4 save).

Tsukua Wet, Hard:

Skyline GT-R (the Pace Car thing), completely standard, I didn't touch anything, even the TCS.

Mazda 787B, won by 3 seconds, even though I overshot the bottom hairpin on the last lap.

I'm delighted! :D

Hey, whats up guys? As you can see from the title I like the chalenge of 200 point races!!! I want to hear about some of the races you have won worth 200 A spec points.

I had a great race in the Specail Conditions Events on the Tsukuba circuit wet(easy). The car that I used was the old Toyota MR2 G-Limited 1986. I love this car but the downside is the lack of power, only about 163 hp. The car I went up against was the Nissan SKYLINE GT-R V-spec III Nur `02. Im way out matched, probly by about 100hp!

The race went fairly well off the start and the only way I could keep up with this guy was when I used NOS. It took the first lap and half of the second for me to pash him using NOS. So here I am in a 163 hp MR2 with a skyline on my bumper!! Heres my heart,BOOM,BOOM BOOM,BOOM BOOM,BOOM. I used up the rest of my NOS to win the race. Crazy!!!

So theres my story and I want to here some of yours. Bye bye.

Welcome Levin,
Race reports (also on 200 pointers) can be found in Race report section, I've written a few of them myself. These threads here are more about what to use if you're after max/200 pointers. Just read any of my #2 posts in here and you'll soon understand the purpose of these threads.

Good luck with your 200 point quest.

AMG.

For the fun, here are some results on Tsukuba Wet Hard ;)

Lancia Delta S4 (full stock + super soft racing tire)
- vs Mazda 787B => Gap 7.3 s / 200pts
- vs Audi R8 => Gap 6.4 s / 200pts
- vs Sauber C9 => Gap 10.1 s / 200pts
- vs Minolta => Gap 7.9 s / 200pts
- vs Bentley => Gap 8.8 s / 200pts

This was inspired by Vash666's original effort to try this series out with this car...unfortunately he did not complete the last two races. So I decided to give it a shot and see how I faired....

This was my biggest and hardest challenge, it is very hard to do via stock car, but is possible with a lot of practice and patience. Took me about 5/6 months to get every 15 races sorted and won with the Judd car. In total 3,000 A-Spec points gained from this hard fought series. Officially this 18 Judd car has retired after doing this championship and other Endurance and Extreme events and the GTWC.

Pretty weak compared to you guys :P but I just did the Tsukuba Wet - Normal in an Aston Martin Vanquish against the Mercedes SLR McLaren. My car was straight from the dealer, won w/clean driving by 1.3xx. 👍

can someone give me a tips to beat all of the 15 FGT race?

The obvious answer is to read the posts in this relatively short thread.

There are a number of posts that talk about the FGT races. Some races are easier than others. I fear I have not mastered all of them for 200 points though. I find them quite difficult.

Practice makes perfect. Other than that .... sorry.

AMG.

Hi guys,

I was just wondering what your weapon of choice was to do the FGT @ nurb. I have tried the mazda 787 but i can not seem to keep it on the road. I tried to use some settings i found for sarthe (because i thought that was bumpy to) but just cant keep control, and rear tires are only lasting three laps. any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

👍 OA

Hi OA,
I used the following cars for 200 points

Tokyo - 787B R2/R1 Turbo4 ballast 55 (the black one)
Motegi SS - Sauber R1 180 ballast
NY -Chap 2J R3 Turbo3
HSR - Audi R8 R2/1
Sarthe - Audi R1
Azur - 787B R2/1 ballast 55
Seoul - FGT 196 ballast Wing 55/77
Inf - Audi R3/2 ballast
Laguna - Chap 2J R2 turbo3
Nurb - Audi R2/1
ElCap - 787B R2/1 ballast
Fuji - FGT 196 ballast Wing 55/77

GVS - FGT for 120 pts
Motegi - FGT for 161
Suzuka - FGT for 101

Thanks for the info, interesting though i used the 787 for the above BLUE races. dirty oil, turbo 4 R1/R1 (change to R2/R1 first stop) no ballast required. i shall have to win a sarthe 24hr for the audi to do nurb. (bummer that will take some time.)

edit: have modified races for completion (all 200) now start i on R2/R1. The only thing that really helps is staying on the road (especially important for nurb.)

i will check my set-ups for the races completed but i mainly used the same setting already posted by yourself and nige for the 787b.

noticing you have 120 with the fgt for GVS. i think i had a mov. of approx 30 seconds. (could have been more but my memory plays tricks on me :dopey:)

NYC was kinda easy as i was able to stretch the first two pits an extra lap each. therefore in turn dropping an extra pit stop.

Fuji was a nail biter. i took the lead for the first time truely on lap 63/67 when i flew past first just coming out of the pits. MOV 5.5 seconds after 1hour 42 min's, (a bit to close for my liking) mov was close cause my laps could not be consistant (between 1:25 - 1:35 per lap) because of a few times i woul dout brake myself end of the first straight and at the chicane.

got azur done next, mov 1 lap and a few seconds. pit every 13 laps (first stint rears were red, after that with lighter fuel load only orange)

Inf. was a little tough in the 787b untill i got a decent set-up and learnt the course, braking and handling of the car. mov 1 min 10 sec. (almost al lap. should have been more but i accidently pitted an extra time due to cat.)

motegi was tough to start with but once i found the braking zones and could keep on the black stuff. MOV was 43 seconds (should have been a little more except for some small excursions.) used the short cut at just before start which saved 1.5 seconds. lap times from 1:32.5 - 1:35.
So as you can see i now only have suzuka to do. all races have been done in the 787b, as i find it easier to dive than the others mentioned.

suzuka is now complete for the full set. had to resort to using the FGT with 195 ballast 55/77 wing 20 on the susp. and tranny trick final set for fastest straight. aids set to 10/10/5. i had to pit every 5 laps as the rears were red mid 5th lap. ai pitted every 7 except last stint was an 8 lapper. MOV 45 seconds+.

now time for some euro miles and enduro's

I've finally finished the Special Conditions hall for 200 points per race. Albeit in the Ram and GSX-R/4 :guilty:, but for the most part won as cleanly as my skills at keeping cars off the walls in rally allow. Except when the AI rally car cut me off and gave me a 5-second penalty, and then I felt justified in wll-bashing to make up the time. I was surprised the Ram could win convincingly and cleanly over a Renault Maxi Turbo rally car at Tahiti Maze, but it does seem to thrive on the repeated hairpin switchbacks.

I'm not planning on going for max, and you can see I still have a long way to go (in large part because I used cars like the M3 GTR race car to win Club M, for example), but I want to get to 100,000 someday. Wish me luck! :scared:

Good job to all that have completed the harder FGT races for 200 points. Those look downright nightmarish, and I'm pretty sure I'll never get Grand Valley or Nurb, not in the FGT anyway.

congrats, and good luck with the rest. 👍

as you can see from my above post, all those in the quote section i have completed in extreme FGT Champion ship with a Black Mazda 787b with no oil change, turbo 4, R1/R1 then R2/R1 tyres. Oh and lots of sweat and luck.

Nurb was extremely hard to start with because i did not have the right suspension settings and i was bouncing all over the road (& grass), changed suspension and got the job done.

i fear though that Motegi & Suzuka will kill me though.

EDIT: see post #88 for completion of FGT series
