Be forewarned: this file is ~18 MB in size.http://www.liquidice.net/tony/wrc-high.wmv

Yeah I just downloaded it at school. :fdevil: I loved that freaking part where the blue rally car started rolling over like crazy! You know he wont use that car for the rest of the race.

My encoding program finally got done. It took almost 21 hours. Unfortunately, the audio cuts out not more than twenty seconds in!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHH!!!!!!!

This is not the first time something like this has happened when converting a Windows Media-type file to MPEG (using two different encoders). Some kind of copy protection, maybe? Just a recurring glitch? Either way MicroShaft strikes again!

Dude same thing just happend to me. I noticed that when i first started to convert it went fast. At first it said 6 min to compleate. Than at the 21 sec mark it slowed down and it ended up being almost 20 hours for me as well :( . At that part where it slowed down i notice thats where the music stopped when i was finished.

Don't stress Jordan: they're so different that it's OK to be nuts about both! :D

Works for me, anyway. In our house the wife gets to watch pretty much whatever she wants unless WRC is on. She doesn't know that UK TV is going to show three hours of TV per event yet though!

And both she and I love F1, so it's cool from that perspective. Not sure I want to kick off a WRC vs F1 debate, but IMO the driving is better in WRC because it's more off-the-cuff, and the crashes are much better! ;)

Very, very cool. I just watched the vid (the last message was typed while it was downloading). Love the way the visuals are matched with the music. (an industry insider tells me that in the new Chemical Brothers video, all visuals coincide with the music).

I haven't seen a film like this before - is it the intro to the WRC game, or did someone grab it off TV?

Okay, that video kicks ass. I to am a HUGE fan of F-1 (haven't watched a race in ages, no cable or satalite sucks) but I could really get used to watching some rally. Those guys are insane. That one car was completely totalled after fliping six or ten times. OUCH!

Watching the video, makes me want to see more. Just wish that mainstream channels (ESPN, ESPN2, etc) would show racing like that more often and NOT at 2a.

Here represents great driving, great racing, great skill, luck, and some spectacular endurance. It's certainly one thing to race on the road at blinding speeds (F1, NASCAR), but ***I*** think it's quite another to race with bumps and jumps and sliding. Much more fatiguing. Plus, as it seems, it's all about time. So it's only you on the track. Nobody in front or in back of you to tell you how your doing.

<VENT>

Just wish American TV would show great sports (e.g. Martial Arts, Rally Racing, F1 Racing, Fencing, Road Cycling) on TV in more than 10 min gulps spread out between numerous commercial breaks at hours no person should be forced be awake.

Just look at Rugby, Cricket, and Soccer. Great sports that never get shown. Well ok. For 30 seconds along with extreme kayaking, surfing, and bull riding. Usually with someone saying "LOOK at this!"

Well yeah. Look at this. Look at an entire game. Then come back.

Yeah yeah.. And nobody attack me about Cricket. Lean back with a bitter and a steak and kidney pie and watch a game with friends live. Then tell me about life.

Hehe, thanks for the assurance, Giles! :D I'll second that question about the origin of this video - it sure is well done! I doubt it's from the intro to a game, though...notice the "Speedvision" logo on all of the shots? Hmmm...

Its not from the game... At the end of the video there is a website displayed for apx. .2 seconds. It shows as:
www.worldrally-online.com, but then is cut of so it seems imperceptable.

It is probably a privateer effort, as wrc website dosn't have it, and probably wouldn't use the song, because of copywright issues...

Still and awesom video never the less...

Fair enough, I did notice the logo, but couldn't make it out, and - being UK based - didn't know it was Speedvision as we don't get it. The swirling WRC logos at beginning and end are official FIA logos though, as they're on the coverage that we get on British Eurosport.

I wondered if it was the intro to 'WRC' for PS2, but I figure it isn't because someone on the board probably would have confirmed that by now, But then they haven't denied it either!

Anyway, the video rocks. Even the wife liked it!

I just wanted to bump this up to let everyone know I you want this video in a mpg format just IM me on AIM. Ill be happy to send this to you.

It should...I have a 700 Celeron and it works just phine...i rip alot of dvds from the video store using smart ripper then convert using TMPEG and burn them to vcd using Roxio..and watch them on a APEX 500 i bought at wal mart for 80 bucks

lot of those videos posted in forums wind up in my collection also..like the one where the guy is racing in a CRX at Laguna and spins out ...it looks cooler on tv...just finished another one with that rabbit getting shredded on it...lol took it to my cousins house and played it on his dvd player and everyone thought it was funny as hell

one word of advice, even though some of these videos are mpeg...reconvert them to mpeg and resample to 340 x480 or whatever that was...it looks weird when it isnt converted...get close ups of bumpers and birds in the background....lol

someone should post a permanent thread that displays all the diffrent places you can download or bitstream a video....i like watching them at work on the t3 ..heh heh...go home download with dsl

you guys are mis-informed!!! This is not a WRC made video, nor a Speedvision made one, nor an intro to a game...

That video was made by a guy named "Pou" from the Montreal Subaru Club. He also did a promotionnal video for the MTL Subaru club and the Canadian Rally championship. The guy has huge video editing skills... I'll try to post a link to the Canadian Championship one...

Rallying is here in the usa and it is amazing. there are events all over the country with some amazing drivers and cars...not quite the caliber of the World Rally guys but still very good. Go to an event and you will be blown away. there is nothing like standing on the inside of a hairpin as a rally car comes screaming through kicking up dirt and rocks right in front of you. No other sport lets you get so close to the action....check out www.specialstage.com, www.rally.subaru.com and www.vtrally.com. Learn about it and you will be hooked for life.
