No, it's not Reutemann (but the Argentinian did race for them all in his career)

What you might call "Pre-Williams". This isn't "Williams Grand Prix engineering"

I assume there's not what you might call a "proper" answer.

You there, JEC?

I am now. Been without access since Thursday. Sorry about the delay in responding.

The answer I'd always heard was Clay Regazzoni, although the figures Pupik's produced prove otherwise. Hence. I'll take Pupik's answer and if anybody knows anymore about Regga's claim, pipe up.

Who was the last driver to win a grand prix on Pirelli tyres?

I want:
- who the driver was
- who his team mate was

and the significant link to:
- a current driver
- two current team owners

Good luck!

KevinPSX gets it.

And now, the abridged history of "The Swap"!

The last Pirelli winner was Nelson Piquet's Benetton. He won at Canada in 1991, on the last lap after Mansell accidently stalled his car at the hairpin. His team-mate was Roberto Moreno, who took over the No.2 Benetton seat after Nannini's helicopter accident.

Moreno got the boot when:
Eddie Jordan's new team had a driver in Bertrand Gachot, who sprayed a cab driver in London with mace during the off-season, and landed himself in jail as a result. Michael Schumacher drove for Jordan, and Flavio Briatore was so impressed that he duly signed Schuey from under Eddie's nose. Moreno went to Jordan, but was replaced by Zanardi, and for Adelaide, he drove for Minardi.

So Moreno is an interesting segue from my last question: He's the last driver to drive for three teams in a season.

But KevinPSX gets the next question.

vat_man - again, the rules of this thread are you need to earnt he right to ask a question by answering the last one.

Go Kev, I have 2 questions in reserve so give me something I know :)

(even if I've just forgotten the other question)

Oh - sorry. :embarrassed:

Well done, though.

Alessandro Nannini, who was the official winner of the 1989 Japanese GP, but whose career was abbreviated after a helicopter accident in 1990.

Is my guess.

I'll side with JEC on that one.
Fagioli only raced 7 times in championship GP races.

Nannini did at least 3 years so it definetly wasn't him.

I wondered if one of the F2 crowd has snuck one in 52/53 but that doesn't appear to be the case.

I believe that would be JEC with the right answer.

Nannini had a whopping 78 presences.

Forix for whatever reason has no mention of presences for Fagioli, but he only had 7 starts, so I'm pretty sure he's the correct answer (I didn't see anyone else with fewer than 12 presences).

Your turn, JEC.

Thanks Kev, but at the moment I'm all out of questions. If its alright with you, and Pupik, he also got it right, so if he wants to fire one off, its alright with me.
