Facekini craze hits China beach as swimmers try to avoid a tan

Well the mask kind of defeats the purpose of going to the beach in the first place...

If they don't want to get tan (or get exposed to harmful rays, so they won't get skin cancer blah blah blah), they might as well just lock themselves up at home

Explained already, but it's no more stupid than paying thousands of dollars in tanning salon fees to look like a sunburned tomato in order to impress your pasty white neighbors.

Agreed.

Pussy Riot called, they want their balaclavas back.

Seriously, wtf? Is being as white as possible coming back into fashion or something?

It has never been out of fashion in east Asia. Many Japanese exchange students I've known have made a solid point to avoid getting a tan, and it goes back to the agricultural stuff mentioned above.

Thats stupid logic

This trend was similar in Europe till the 16th or 17th century when some nobles traveled more and acquired tans from those travels. Because getting a tan in Europe, especially England, wasn't quite so easy :P

I grew up around this, but: 1) Some Japanese ladies avoided sun, while others were chasing them. 2) When they didn't want the sun, they wore big hats.

Those masks are creepy.

That made me lol!

Whites wants to be dark

non-whites wants to be white...

the greener is on the other side of the grass...

We live in a world where we are chasing what we dont have...

Usually those Asians who have been trying to cover themselves from the Sun (and along for some beneficial vitamins D) are usually either:
1) older ladies, older generation with the mentality that being light skin, housed all year long is a privilege.
2) ugly people, and so therefore i would rather have them cover themselves up

Personally, i dont understand the whole "total protection" attitude...
they might say they do it because in the name of skin cancer prevention etc etc

but honestly... spending 2hours in the whole year at the beach ain't gonna kill them.
it aint gonna reduce their lives by 10 years because of that...

And so what??? how long do you expect to live your life?? and why ??

Some people just bother too much time and themselves with trying to bubble wrap and triple condom cover them, in the end, they are wasting their time and thus, now i know why they would want to live longer, not enough time to enjoy themselves...

stupid logic...
