...With over 580 NM and 320 hp I expected it to be a bit quicker than 8.4 sprint time even with 1.8 ton weight.

Must be the wonky gearing...

At automobile-catalog.com it stands 7 sec but I don't know which is right, the other sites I have been looking at has not mentioned any specific performance figures, they just say "under 9 sec". So I took the numbers from the first link in the OP.

...Between 7 and 8 sounds about right, I think. That "under 9" sounds a bit like educated guess to me. Hell, even I can point to a random car and say "that will do 100kph sprint under X seconds, lol!" with a straight face...

Most of these cars were sold with a three speed automatic gearbox as standard. On luxury cars from this period a four speed manual (or often a 5 speed ZF) was an option - if that was the case with this car it could be that the faster time is with a manual option.

A great car so I voted like.

Yeah the 4-speed manual was an option for the FVS series 4, and I have now edited the OP so it's after the Automobile-catalogs specifications of an car with the 4-speed manual. I read later in a book I found that 8,4 sec was with the Automatic 3-speed gearbox that I DON'T want :P
