Never ever ever ever ever !
I heard last night that the reason for most of us that are not able to Connect for an Online Race in GT5P is down to the First 60GB PS3.

Could this be true??

Well, I would like you all to please tell when you got your PS3 with the GB size and weather or not you bought it on it's launch date back in March 2007 for England and any other Launch dates in other countries.

If you have bought the New PS3 Slim then you should have no problems connecting to an Online race (So I have heard) and racing to your hearts delight. If there is anyone who has the Original PS3 and the new Slim can you please test this theory out for those of us who are wondering what the hell is going on. I have recently tried to go back to GT5P but with no luck only to have one race a day maybe, which is getting annoying again.

I have the 60GB PS3 that I bought in March 2007. I have had no problems with my console's operating system and no problems with any games unless they are just crap.

Do you think there is anything Sony or PD can do about this Connection Error?

How long have you had the connection problem though?? I have had connection problems as well the last 5-6 months, but before that I could play to my hearts content. I also have a 60GB PS3 with the 4 USB ports and card reader.... Bought in Dec. 2007.... But as I said until about 5 months ago I didnt have any problems at all...

I've got a first gen 60GB PS3 and I don't have any unusual issues getting into online races. Perhaps it's your ISP?

Its started towards the end of July. It did happen a few times since GT5P came out but that was once in a while and after it happened there were no more problems like that again. It is weird how it all started as soon as Kaz said that they are testing GT5.

I can tell you that it is not my or anyone's ISP. People have tried changing their ISP's Internet Provider, Router settings and everything that you can think of, but all are and as far as I know are still going through the same thing.

I have a 80 gig PS3 that I bought July 2009. It is not the slim. I sometimes have that problem but it happens sporaticly. It usually happens the most after being played 6 or more hours straight. I turn it off for about 10 minutes and 9 out of 10 times it works properly again. I don't know if this helps your problem but I thought I would add my .02 cents just incase. I hate hearing anybody having troubles having a great gaming experience. Good luck mate!👍

Thanks Cletus, the more info given might help Sony or PD resolve this problem.....if they want to!!

Well, I have a UK 80GB fat model, bought about 3 weeks ago.

Only had this trouble after I posted in a thread about how I don't suffer from it.... damn you irony.

I have a new 80gb model and have connection problems one day,and than the next day all works fine...so it deffenately has nothing to do with wich model anyone has!!
I think it has more to do with the servers and PD testing the online system for the upcomming academy and gt5 full game...to me that makes perfect sense...but its very anoying for now when you want to race online with GT5P....

My 3 cents...

spyrrari.

I have a one year old 80gb and its awful. Loads of us are having problems, see the race events thread. From what I can work out reading around, it's to do with the fact that GT5P used to be run on star networks where one person was host and everyone connected to them, the drawback was that the host would quit and you'd be thrown out of the game.

Now they are using full mesh networks where everyone connects to everyone else (tell me you've had a 'host has quit' message in the last few months), the drawback being, if you can't connect to everyone else, you fail to get in the game (or even freeze or become a spectator). If you have different latency or a high ping, you'll have trouble connecting and thus fail to match, this is especially a problem in the world events.

Not to mention its extremely annoying and makes you want to put your foot through the machine and the T.V. I say bring back the old system. The chances of the host quitting the race are far less the this 🤬 we dealing with now

I got mine to work by opening an event quickly from the home screen and straight to the race, got me into my first online race in hours of trying. This might not help but it's worth a shot if your testing. Has anyone tried the port-forwarding method yet btw?

There is a great deal of information already chronicalled in the thread dedicated to this issue. It has nothing to do with the model or specification of the PS3 you are using. Having spent over $600 trying to fix the problem, and reading what others are experiencing, I can only conclude that it is NOT a hardware or connection problem with any user .... it is most definitely a factor of or combination of server and programming issues at Polyphony Digital's end :guilty:

Well considering all the information that has been gathered by everyone who plays GT5P over the last 4-6 months, its strange that PD have not tried to rectify the problem.....that's if they even know about it and I think they do know. Only they can fix it, we just have to wait I guess.

Just got a [60:2900000000]

I have a 1st gen 60GB bought a couple months after release and don't have any issues, no more than other people with later 40GB PS3's.

For about an hour now I have been able to race onnline which has made me very happy and surprised. Fuji 550 with the BMW M3 07. I have done nothing to change my internet settings which I'm also happy about.

I'm going to see how long this will last and try out other Events to see what happens.

Yes today has beeen great and a huge improvement on what has been going with GT5P in recent months. As I still try to get to grips with connecting I'm glad to see that there are still quite a lot of people still loggin on to play. Now maybe its because of the time of day that I logged on, but then again maybe not. Beacause normally after an Hour it would start to give the Error message again but not today. The only way to see if this problem has been fixed for me is to try again tonight at any point in time to see if this was just a one off. My weekend now will be dedicated to see how long this will last.

Have PD been listening to us??

I too dug out Prologue last week and popped it in (after months of setting it aside), just to see if anything had changed. And guess what ? Miraculously I made it into race after race ! Dare I believe that the problem is fixed ? Oh, oh, got another "Failed to Connect to Host" (or F2C as I call them) .... click ok, rematching again .... and into the next race .... whew !!! That was close !! So I thought that maybe it hasn't been fixed, but in any case I was getting into races again (90% successful entry), so I was ecstatic :dopey:

Then over the course of the next 3 or 4 days, the ratio of successful entries and F2C's slowly shifted back to where it had been 5 months ago (90% fail to connect) and I once again, had to park my disk :yuck:

I tried to connect to four races last night and got into three of them. A couple of them it took forever to connect, almost thought it wasn't going to.

Edit: I don't have a first gen system either.

I have a 60Gb fat bought on launch day and don't have any special problems with online races, I get on about 90% of the time.
Actually I almost always get to be the host ever since I upgraded my internet connection to fiber-optic 50Mb/s

For a while I even had Nat type 3 (before I found out how to change to Nat 2), which isn't supposed to be good, without any special problems

I have noticed when I get on there are only 4 places available. This happened after it checked my internet connection when it was really slow and now it puts me in the low bandwidth races. I think 3 is the most player I have played against recently in suzuka pp750 intermediate.

Well Friday was brilliant. Sat and Sun was rubbish........until i took my PS3 to one of my other friends house. Turned on the console....put GT5P in and it connected right away and kept on connecting all throught the night.

So its not the consoles-120-80-60-40Gb. But it may have something to do with location and your actual broadband speed. My friends is much faster than mine, but he lives less than mile away. But now I'm back at home its gone back to the usual error conrctions butnot as much as before which is hopeful.

Here's something.......go to your friends house with your PS3 and use their Broadband connection to test this out. You never know.

I have sent 2 emails to Sony's customer service detailing the issue. Both responses were "boiler plate" templates indicating that they don't even read the incoming emails for content. Before you "submit" your email, you are required to pick a "catagory" for describing the problem. The closest catagory in their drop down box was "Connection Problem". This catagory automatically triggers a formatted reply process whereby they simply send you the appropriate links from their FAQ data base on "How to make a wireless connection" and "How to make a wired connection". There was nothing in their replies to indicate anyone had even read the email 👎

It doesn't explain how some days you get good entry and some days total exclusion. Also in the same evening, I can be limited to 1 to 4 player races all evening and then suddenly get into an 11 member race. I have the highest speed (most expensive pkg) my provider offers and I have frequently checked my connection speed which is faster than several friends who have no problems connecting. I don't know a lot about broadband, but your explanation would indicate that my Windstream DSL has a widely fluctuating broadband width on any given night. Is this normal ?

It also doesn't explain how I have 100% success in getting into races in the 6 other racing games that I have that support online racing. Never had a single disconnect or fail to connect in any of them. It still seems to me that there is something screwy with PD's server set up and programming.

whats this all about ? For a while I even had Nat type 3 (before I found out how to change to Nat 2), which isn't supposed to be good, without any special problems

i dont understand the nat type 3 or nat type 2 how do i check mine.

I'm curious about how to change your NAT Type ? Please don't refer to the Options menu whereby you can change the "Mode" to "Mode 1 " or to "Mode 2". This is nothing to do with NAT Type. My understanding of what the NAT Type is that it is linked to the type of connection that you have and whether or not your PS3 operates on a "shared network" within your home.

I do not understand (based on Sony's NAT Type descriptions) why my NAT stays at Type 3 whether connected wirelessly (router) or hard wired directly to my modem ?

Type 3 means that you don't have UPnP enabled on your router and ps3. If you know what model your router is you can google it or look through the manual to see how to enable it.
