The series is over!
Congratulations to Darryl for taking the GTPlanet Fall 2011 Jetta TDI Cup Championship!
He claimed his championship in the last race of the series in style with a hat trick of race win, fastest race lap time, and starting on pole position!
Darryl claimed 126 points out of a possible 180 points!

5. Simon Carr, 70 points
6. Bill Mann, 60 points

finally....:dopey:

I shortened the series to finish it before winter holidays and to make it more manageable since this is my first go at hosting a series. I can make it even shorter if necessary.

Thanks again to MildAshers for getting this off the ground. I took his outline and added in a few awards and a point system taken from the actual TDI cup series.

Since there were not volunteers I will be Race Committee (RC) for this series. My duty will be to resolve any protests sent in by pilots (though I hope we will all be gentlemen on and off the track to avoid anyone filing a protest). I have a basic outline later in this post.

Pilots: Send me your GTP handle, iRacing name, and Car# to be included in the series.
The Server Password will be sent by PM through GT Planet to all series registered pilots ~30 minutes before the start of the event.

If there is any issue with server start I will attempt to set up again.
(ok, i now see server request under "pending sessions" on my screen)

Thanks Patrick for hosting 👍

A good race by all. I'm guilty of not practicing the track and also being rubbish with that Jetta :dopey:

no problem! It was fun and a learning experience.

congrats to Curtis for the win and Darryl for the fastest lap of the race (1:41.819 if I read it correctly)

I was out after 6 or 8 laps? too much time kissing the barriers and not enough practice!!

next Sunday is Lime Rock!! see you at that track!
:)

Thanks. I got fast lap.:dopey: Awesome.

Was an awesome race. I didn't turn a lap till I came into practice and feel fortunate just to keep up. Curtis and I had a good scrap going on for a few laps and was completely clean the way it should be. I had my chances to get by, just couldn't quite complete the passes. Thats alright though. I don't like being "that guy" who ruins the moment with a bonehead move. So I'll respectively take 2nd and move on. Hope the next race is just as enjoyable as this one. Gonna put some practice into the next one and see if I can't take home the win this time.👍

Don't miss the race next Sunday. You guys missed out today.

I know! I totally forgot!! Then I saw Patric's message here and went over to iRacing but you guys where already 6 laps in... I will definitely be there next week!

Hopefully, everyone can make it to Lime Rock Park!

I did not know until after the race that there was a GMT daylight savings timechange last Saturday or Sunday morning(?). That could have confused some people.
We do not change the clocks until next Saturday here in Chicago. I will need to make a note for myself!!

I watched the last 10 lap battle between you and Curtis. Very good stuff!! 👍
Curtis seemed just a hair quicker out of the corners, but you seemed to have a bit more car control.
It was a very close battle on a narrow track that made for difficult passing.
well done by both of you!!

Round 2 is tomorrow! I realized that I have never taken the Jetta for a spin at LRP! man, need to get some wheel time in asap!

note - registration is still open for anyone to join any or all of the races, however, you will not be eligible for the iRacing prizes if you did not sign up at the beginning of the season.

edit... for those in the states, if necesssary remember to turn your clocks back 1 hour tonight for DST

Hey lads,

I have to take care of some business and will likely be late for the practice and maybe the race. So I went ahead and scheduled the event as listed in the second post. Please check your PM for the server password.

good luck to all! play nice!

Looking forward to Limerock! Will definitely not miss this race! Can't let you guys have all the fun, I want in!!

I have an interesting issue. The server for the race does not show up on my list of hosted races. Did I have to enter by a certain time? I have some of you on the my racers list. When I move cursor over the steering wheel it will let me watch the race with the password, but not enter the session. Very interesting. I'll keep checking, but don't think its going to let me race.:grumpy:

Edit: I got the time wrong. Haha, forgot about the time change for me.:dunce: Oh well. Hope everyone had fun.👍

I almost forgot about the time change :P. Anyway you missed a pretty good one I'll have to put a video of it for sure had some mishaps but turned out for a great finish!!!

Jav

Oh, pooooo. I would've probably had fastest lap again. I did some laps last night around LRP chicane and had a best of 1:03.2xx. Bah, glad everyone had a good time. I remember from my practicing that the braking zone into the chicane can be brutal if not done smoothly. It was fun though, kicking the rear out through there.:)

I won't be missing the next one. Damn time change.:banghead:

On a good note, I just won a street stock race by 10 sec.👍
