Fall update to be released tomorrow [Updated]
Posted in Xbox 360, Hardware by Nino on October 30th, 2006 at 12:03
Gamefront.de says that Famitsu said that we’re going to get the Fall update tomorrow. This coincides with earlier rumors, claiming the exact same date. The Fall update will contain over 80 additional features including an overhaul for the Xbox Live Arcade and the Marketplace, 1080p and HD-DVD support and more. The report doesn’t say anything about the US and EU release of the update but sources tell us that this is a worldwide release.

Update: WatchImpress has the first pics from the Japanese press conference. WMV streaming via Windows Media Connect, from a CD-R/DVD-R and a USB thumbdrive has been confirmed. Pics after the jump.

Not really a whole lot there for me to look forward to, since I already use my XB360 as a Media Center Extender from my PC and don't use a Zune or any sort of video/music CD's through it. The updated arcade features and support for wireless wheel and headset will be nice, however.

I'm looking forward to the connectivity to non-Media center PCs. I have some stuff I'd love to stream downstairs to my 360, and that would be nice...

...But you can't stream videos with it.

Oh, ok. I never tried that. I don't want to stream videos 2 inches away from my computer, when I can just switch the input on my monitor :D

...I attempted to get my 360 to talk to my PC last night, and it didn't work out so well. Maybe I was too tired and too sick, but I got upset and forgot about it...

My buddy just installed his and called me, apparently his 360 won't boot properly anymore? Anyone else had any problems or got any solutions? Thanks :)

For some odd reason, it never worked for me straight away, but a day later it worked perfectly.

Well, I'm not an expert with my home network, but I can't seem to get it to talk through my router to the 360 downstairs. I tried strapping the 360 right to the computer and it worked, but I couldn't get a connection to XBOX Live.

...I think I can survive without some of my photos, movies, music, etc for now...

I noticed something interesting. If you go to look at your videos in the redesigned video section, you'll see sections for movies and TV shows. This, along with it telling you if the video will expire or not, makes me believe MS might be implementing TV show/movie download. Very interesting...
