We got the war records for my great grandfathers during World War I or II and some funny stuff on there. One of them was being treated in England for a gunshot wound. When he had healed and was ready to go back he just left for a couple days to see his family that lived very close to the hospital... Docked pay and a rank
Another one was wounded 4 times and the received 4 medals in World War I, shrapnel wounds 3 times and a sniper shot that cut his neck but didn't kill him Him and another great grandfather have their names on the Vimmy Ridge plaque in France.
