My short review:

General: Smooth and quiet just what real car feels or very close at least. Clamp is very poor; wheel just did not hold in position. Easy solution was hard mount which i did. Clutch is very good, brake is good and gas pedal ok.
+Feel (in most games)
+Quiet
+Authentic Porsche Styling
+Options for pedals(g25, ms)
+Sticky stuff for pedals
+Easy "on fly" adjustments
-There was no manual with the wheel (now there is at fanatec.com)
-Clamp is poor
-center position had to be calibrated
-You can not have both shifters plugged in at the same time (i have make/buy a switch box )

Specific games:

Forza 3

Well it works very good with this game although game does not really support 900 degrees in cocpit animation and also car feel like truck when you are goin trough a tight corner. So i would advice to use 540 or 360 setting for this game. There is not really anything wrong with turbo S support for forza 3. I did no like that game developers not allow you to use more FFB but FFB is still quite good and you know most of time what is going on with the wheels.

GT5:P

A dissaster if you ask a one word to describe it. First issue was that due no calibration options in game gas pedal was at rest in 10%(potentiometer was not in lowest position at rest) I fixed this by opening pedals and meltin a bit plastic away from rotaion of the pedal (yes i am an engineer so i have bad habit of fixing everything my self). Second problem is with game also as game uses some very buggy ffb code that makes wheel shake very heavily in straights. I noticed this shaking also with G25, my last wheel but is was not noticable as with turbo S. Only solution i found was to turn ffb to 33 ruinned steering feel in turns. Game is not playable in it's current form. I hope they fix this for the final game and give calibration options(fanatec said that PD has turbo s wheel and it will work better with GT5)

Enthusia(ps2 original played with EU PS3)

Fanatec supports whis game super good :) FFB is stronger than with G25 and drifting very easy. Game also come with calibration options if something is not working(makes GT5:P look bad in this matter) Clutch won't work with this game as there was not wheel with a clutch when enthusia was released so it is quite understandable. Damn this game is a lot of fun still today :)

Conclusion:

Yes im happy with the wheel but it does not work really with GT5:P so im dissapointed in that matter. However as i have clearly told that it was not mistake from fanatec as wheel works very well with other games. In fact my G25 was not any better in this matter as it did not work at all with forza 3 :) I still need to buy a longer PS/2 cable for the 6-speed shifter and get a switch box for switching the sticks. I will post pics from my setup later after i get those things and i will also try out GT4.

the 911 turbo s wheel works excellently with Dirt 2 for PC :) I have not had a chance to try it with consoles yet.

I had a paranormal experience today. I got my fanatec wheel. I put it all together. I started the 360 and everything just worked? No fiddling no nothing. Not used to that with my previous 911 turbo and GT 3 RS experiences.

10/10 in plug and play. Hope PC and PS 3 go as smooth :)

How is everyone mounting there's?

Mine finally came today and I'm having a heck of a time.

I have the wheel up on my plate, but the wheel knocks back and forth (the mount on the wheel will not stay fastened)

for the pedals (stock) I put 1 velcro strap on it, and 1 on the metal rod, but it still doesn't stop the pedals from practiacally flying off when I use the clutch (have yet to make it past 2 laps!).

Any help or advice? It didn't come with the manual, and the lackluster quick start guide on the site blows.

So far I am enjoying the wheel (turning is GREATLY improved over the MS wheel, and I love the feel of the wheel) i just want to be able to play for longer than 5 minutes without having to get up and readjust everything.

Help Please?

I'm thinking of removing the quick release mount and either adding velcro (might not work?) or drilling holes (I think it came with a template).

Ok, thanks.

To secure your pedals here's what I did

Take pedals

Mount them to the metal that came with it

remove the sticky pieces near the top, place them in the middle.

Add velcro to the back, and to your foot mount on the playseat.

Stick, then race.

Pretty secure, now time to drill some holes!

Also, just for reference, how can you switch from ps3 to 360 and back?

Is it just me or are the force feedback tuned a bit weaker then on the RS?

It connected just as well to PC as to the PS 3.
I haven´t tried Shift but the GT 3 RS don´t have any issues with that or any other PC title anyway so I hope for the best.

GT 5 Prologue have had crappy force feedback with all my wheels. But I don´t remember this attempt to jerk it off your hands on either the GT 3 RS or G25. Gonna have to try downloading the PS 3 shift demo to see how that works I suppose.

Oh and I had forgot that I did miss this leather on the RS wheel. So smooooth :)

Do you guys have to unplug your shifter to get it to work in Forza? Every time I start the game I have to unplug my 6-speed and plug it back in to get the game to recognize its there. GT5p and iRacing both recognize it without problems though.

Nope. It just works.

with forza 3, if you turn on your console with the wheels 360 button the shifter doesn't work at first. If you turn on the console with the console's power button and then turn on the wheel, it will work fine. If you don't want to keep unplugging your shifter, just turn the power back off on the wheel after powering everything up, and then turn it back on and the shifter will be ready to use.

Hi guys!
Just got my wheel today.
It works fine with Forza 3 (although Left and Right Trigger don't work...so I can't check messages....I have to try it with other games)
My PS3 broke last week so I decided to play gt4 in the PS2, but I can't connect the wheel to the console. Is it the same procedure as with the PS3? Or this wheel doesn't work with a PS2?
Tomorrow I'll connect to the pc and install some drivers but I'm starting to worry...

What steps should I do to connect it to the ps2?
- turn the ps2 on
- turn the wheel on (it calibrates and shows - - - )
- press back button on the wheel (all light went off, guess it's pc mode)
- press back button again but now pressing the connect button simultaneously (nothing happens, if I keep pressing the 5_1 setting lights up)

I must be doing something wrong, I tried with the cable and the rf dongle (there's a button underneath it that I press but it only shows a white light on the left and a red light on the right side of the dongle...I was guessing one of the lights would blink)

Also in x360 (only played forza 3) the top 2 buttons on the left don't light up, only the bottom 2 buttons light up, the Lsb and Rsb, is that normal?

i think you should be able to put wheel to ps3 mode even without actual ps3. I have found out that xbox-button does not work as ps-button in ps3 mode.(have to use controller)

I can not put my wheel into Playstation mode unless the USB is plugged in.

I am currently not able to use the wireless dongle at all though, so I dunno if that is the way the wheel is supposed to work or not.

well i can not help you, but i can say that i was wrong previously. You can not put wheel to ps-mode without working connection to PS2/PS3. I hope you get your PS3 repaired shortly:tup:

previously fanatec said that you would need also press dongle button with ps2, but i do not know if it's only on he with older wheels.

Raitziger, you said you could use the wheel with your ps2, what version is your ps2? Mine is the older one (the Aqua version).
I tried the wheel with my pc. It works but the buttons don't light up (I'm not sure if they're supposed to), I installed the new driver 102, went to the properties and there's an option to turn off the button's lights, when I use that option the lights for the ps3 mode light up. I also tested the ff and the rumble, all working good, did also a proper calibration. Tested the wheel with test drive unlimited (once I chose combined pedals, as I have the clubsport connected to the wheel, I could define the buttons) and Need for Speed ProStreet (once a game I felt was terrible mistake to have bought, now with this wheel I will definitely put some hours, recognised the wheel instantly).
The wheel works great with x360 games, seems great with pc (will play rfactor on the weekend), couldn't connect to my ps2 and I'll only have my ps3 at the middle of next week to see if it connects (I haven't bothered fanatec with emails as I believe they might have too many to sort through, only if I can't connect it to the ps3 I'll contact them, but right now I'm an happy customer!)

I play PS2 games with my PS3(eu 60GB emulation version). So all i can say is that PS2 games support it. Fanatec says it works with the PS2 system but clearly there is a problem with your older version. Buttons wont light up in PS symbols if you are using wheel in other than ps-system.

PS: If someone has wiring details for fanatec pedals please share. I need to make G25 adapter as fanatec won't sell those(or even tell how adapter conncets pins)

Did you bind the dongle correctly? Is it working in the PC game controller test panel?

Please use the correct manual to bind the dongle. Some people looked into the 911 Turbo manual and not the 911 Turbo S manual.

And please make sure that the USB cable is not connected when you operate the RF dongle

My dongle will not bind to my wheel, and yes I did use the right instructions.

Though, I sent an email to to support, and after several days I got a reply simply stating that I did not use the right buttons.

This is exactly what was in that email:

I followed the instructions from the quick guide exactly, and they just won't connect. I tried it plugged to the PS3. I tried it plugged into the PC. I tried it directly, through a hub, on an extension cable, and it just will not bind.

I plug the dongle into the PC/PS3.
I turn the wheel on, and put it into PC mode.
I hit the bind button on the dongle.
I hit Start + R-DPad.

Nothing. The lights on the dongle just blink until it times out.

The PWTS Quickguide states:

-> Connect RF Dongle to PC or PS3
-> Power on PWTS and activate PC mode (press back button one second)
-> Press the binding button on the dongle - LED starts blinking
-> Press STB (start button) and right D-Pad button (DPR) simultaneously.
-> LED stops blinking and lights constantly - RF Dongle and PWTS are connected

The USB cable was not connected, and all electronics and wireless devices aside from those required were turned off. I tried hitting STB & DPR multiple different times multiple different lengths.

I thought the turbo s was better then the G25 too, but lately I'm starting to wonder. Shift is pretty much unplayable for me with the turbo s unless I turn the FF almost completely off. When I go down straights the wheel pulls so hard that I can't keep the car straight. Same thing happens with GT5p.
The only game I've really enjoyed with it so far is forza 3.

With the G25 every game I played worked great on the ps3. I really don't know why the turbo s wheel acts the way it does with those 2 games, but it's really driving me crazy not being able to play shift. I wish I had kept my G25 now to use with the ps3 games.

I do like the feel and smoothness much better on the turbo s, but not being able to even play GT5p and shift is starting to kill it for me. Hopefully GT5 doesn't have this problem.

Interesting observations. I just received my Turbo S last week (minus the shifters :grumpy:). I've been playing mostly rFactor, but I connected it to my PS3 and gave Shift and GT5p a try.

Both games played perfectly for me. In fact, I felt more in control and connected to the road in Shift with the Turbo S (vs DFGT). I certainly didn't feel it pulling in the straights.

I changed the FFB and sensitivity settings on the wheel and still didn't feel anything strange with the FFB.

Has anyone tried GTR:Evo/Race 07 with the Turbo S?

@gatorchad - I know what you mean bout the pulling in Shift with the DFGT, glad to hear its not there!

GTR EVO/RACE 07 Turbo S is about on par with the GT 3 RS :)... My Turbo S have little less resistance which will take some time getting used to... It sometimes feel like it steers on it´s own in the start of turns but it´s just my muscle memory playing tricks I suppose.

It´s mostly an Alcantara vs Leather battle. Leather feels oh so luxurious and nice and the Alcantara feels rough but grips superbly on the other hand :).

Turbo S wins heavilly on the paddle buttons... They are not at all mushy like on the RS thankfully. I cut down the top part of the paddle shifters so I can use them as well now and get the nice feel of the metal too.

Yes, GTR:Evo works great also. Didn't have any problems. The only change I made was turning down the strength of some of the effects (via the game's menu).

Also worth noting; the clubsport pedals were consistent across games and platforms. Once I got the brake dialed in, it work the same on all games.

Awesome, thanks guys! I got the regular pedals but would naturally assume that they would work without a problem as GTR:EVO has clutch support.

Well i can't say i "got" them as my wheel/pedals and everything lese won't be delivered until early next year sometime.
