Fanatec PWTS - xbox better than ps3 (UPDATE: verdict!!)

I've got the ps3 version, and I'm playing with the fanatec pwts.

I've tried all settiing detail here, and other sites, and also my own...

I can dial in the steering fine, but FFB is dreadful, basically I get 'tugs' or 'drop out' from the ffb, which mean handling is dreadful.
The only way I can get around this is to reduce ffb (either in game or wheel) to 30%, or lowing dpr and spr to -3 ... which is much the same thing, problem is doing this loses all feel/weight to the car.

I've seen here a few saying the xbox version handling is great...
Are you saying that you dont have these issues on the xbox version?
I.e. It's a bug on the ps3 version

If so im tempted to go pickup an xbox copy!

So what's the view of those with both versions?
What do xbox players with fanatec wheels think of handling/ffb?
Any issues with the xbox version?

Sorry, so many questions, but I really don't want to get the xbox version, and find it's just as bad

UPDATE:
I went out and bought the xbox version, played with exactly the same setup (fanatec pwts/cs pedals, tv)
the PS3 version of FFB is definitely broken for fanatec wheels.
regardless of settings, you will not get it right on the PS3, whereas its is fine on the xbox - EA/SMS need to patch the PS3 version

thanks to everyone here for convincing me to try the xbox version, its great.

I disagree. I have the turbo s wheel, which is the same as yours. I may be wrong but, It looks like you have pretty much the inside sim racings settings except for the 900 and drift settings. I turned my drift up to I think 2 on mine, but I didn't turn the rotation up to 900. The cars feel very floaty feeling, and the FF cuts in and out on me also on the 360. I have to go into the pause menu screen to get it to come back on.

It's not the worst feeling game ever, but it's also not the best. I thought it was alot better when I first started playing it, but the more I played the less I liked it.

It's really weird how 2 people using almost identical wheels, with very close settings in game and on the wheel have completely different views of how it feels.

Yeah, I'm confused too, I've seen a few claims of perfect settings, but when I try them, they feel no different to settings I've tried. They usually solve the steering rotation, but not the ffb/handling/feeling aspect.

don't get me wrong, they are obviously good for the poster, and I'm glad they share them ... But confused how we get so much variation of opinion.

Odd, on the ps3, you don't need to go the pause menu, it just cuts in/out randomly... like an effect, but at a completely inappropriate time.

That and the lag, (I think) is what gives this lack of precision on the straights.
Yes you can dial this out/reduce it with reducing ffb, and increase speed sensitivity, but it's weird and it's still there.
( I think partially it's due to the fanatec having pretty strong ffb)

Hmm, any other xbox owners got an opinion?

As an additional note I have found that every time I turn the xbox on I have to start a race and then power off the fanatec and switch it back on again.

If i dont do this the FFB doesnt seem to be have properly.

I am using The Fanatec GT2 with CS pedals.
I have a PS3 and Xbox 360... i originally bought the game on the PS3 and was so frustrated by the lack of feel, floaty sensation and FFb that i returned the game and asked for the Xbox version! The feeling was instantly better but there is still no comparison between this and GT5 when it comes to feeling "connected" to the car. In GT5 i can feel braking distance with ease, steering is precise and instant and the cars feel more planted. In Shift 2 i feel that "floaty" sensation on both PS3 and Xbox although PS3 was worse. Braking is hard to judge and the steering is not ever tight and precise!
I really want to like this game because of its raw and edgy feel but the physics and lack of feel make it very difficult.
End result i am more happy with the Xbox version...

Didnt EA drop the Fanatec support for PS3? My guess is they ran out of time to implement it properly.
One their website it's not listed, though the forum has it listed (from Speed hunters)

I guess, I don't mind IF I know the xbox version works,
But there seems to be similar disappointment being expressed by xbox owners, and also pc owners ... With both fanatec wheels and g27/g25

Hmm, do I risk the xbox version, and give yet more cash to ea?

tlm, I'm same as you, love the racing feel, just wish I could get the handling feel...
Does sound like the ps3 version is the runt of the litter :grumpy: , so I either wait/hope for a patch... Or go get the xbox version

Btw , does the xbox version support clutch/ h shifter and 900 deg?

The xbox does support 900 deg, am not sure about the clutch and h/shifter because i use the paddle shifters. I think that it would though as the option for "auto" or " manual" clutch in game is available.

Not sure what people are saying about the FFB though? I have massive FFB when going over curbs and rumble strips! I can only think that people are referring to FFB in relation to the lack of "tight" steering. The steering always feels loose and floaty with little resistance.

Having played both I can say the Xbox version is better all around.

I don't have to power off when the FF disappears, just a simple pause and the PWGT2 get it back.

This happens with the MS wheel too, so I'm hopeful for a patch.

Using Raudi's fanatec settings itI honestly feels like night and day. I don't get lag, odd.

Driving a G27 on PS, yes the FF does suddenly drop off completely whilst turning corners.
I think it's supposed to show loss of traction on the front tires but it just feels not good.

When the same happens on Xbox with a PWGT2 the feedback progressively drops rather than a sudden no feedback at all.
Much better.

Hope I translated what I feel, ok.
It's quite hard to describe.

Honestly though, graphics and FF feels much better comparing a G27/PS3 combo to an PWGT2/Xbox combo. In favour of Xbox.

Be nice to hear others who have played both versions.

thank you all so much for your comments...

i decided to risk it, and am so glad I did

the xbox version is a completely different game to the PS3!

do NOT but the PS3 version if you have a fanatec wheel!
the FFB is definitely broken... its not settings, its just incorrect code and needs to be patched to be playable.
(sorry, i dont have a G27, so dont know if PS3 is broken for all wheels or just the fanatecs!)

evidence: I played back to back the two versions, same wheel/tv, etc..
immediately on the xbox, no assists, elite, i can hit lines, and easily beat the AI, hit hot laps etc. on the PS3 i was struggling to keep the car on the road, and on even oneasy AI would lose!

example: the exige S race, could not beat with countless times on PS3, and was just completely frustrating, on xbox beat it first time with a margin!

thanks again guys, i went on pure trust that the xbox version would be better, and its so much fun

btw,
@Spagetti69, i think your right, the issue is the PS3 just seems to turn FFB on/off at 100%, yanking you off the road... where xbox is using different levels... so you cant dial it out with the PS3, you either turn off ffb and have no feeling, or you cant control it ... very disappointed that SMS didnt spot this before release.

Excellent news, :-)

Thanks Technobear! I too have a PWTS, and was very disappointed with the PS3 version. I was considering trading in for the 360 version, and after reading this thread I finally did. You are absolutely correct. It handles SO much better. I think the graphics are better too. Here's to expensive mistakes! Hopefully the game will be worth the $95 I ended up spending after trade-in value!
