I read through the disappointment and I simply have to shake my head. These last several updates have been fantastic, if you bothered to look past the surface announcement.

People complain that we don't get race cars, but we got the Escort RS that can be modified into a full on race car. This month, it gets a full race engine for those who want it. So, ONE CAR (among many), can go from showroom perfect to full blown race car, and y'all want MOAR?

This month (I'm paraphrasing) "boo hoo, we don't get us no race carz". Yet, we got the 205, which like the escort, can be fully modified. I suspect an engine swap is coming in the future.

And, as expected, the Unimog is a HOOT!! The smile on my face once I took it to GT Auto. I literally laughed out loud from the happiness. It was involuntary. It made me GIDDY!! Now, granted, you may know of the current issues that Canada is having with our neighbours, and I am sure that factored into my excitement. Still, what is the price for this happiness? NOTHING. It's free with my original purchase from (and this seems to be constantly lost on ungrateful people) THREE YEARS AGO!!!

What kills me is that I often see posts complaining about the cars being offered, especially comments about "no race carZ :P", and I rarely see the same people commenting in the daily race thread. You know the thread, right? The one where the guys who like to race hang out. If you don't race, then why do you want a "race car"? The definition of which is still unclear to me.

I 100% see the wisdom from PD and Sony, They are making the game better for those who appreciate the game. The 12 million or so who appreciate what this game offers. I want to be clear, I have my complaints, but the monthly update isn't one of them. On this point, the problem is YOU not them.

Both RaceRoom and Assetto Corsa plays great with a controller for example.
Is that so...?

I never tried any of those, but after all I was reading and hearing about that topic I got the impression, that both are not very playable with a controller...

But if I ever get back to PC-racing(there are some reasons why I don't like to do that at the moment), I reinstall GT-Legends and take my old steering wheel out of the closet...with the 200(or more) moded race tracks(with all the defunct and lost race tracks of the 1950s,1960s and 1970s) and all the modes cars from that area it can't get any better for me when it comes to racing games....

It’s the companies choice. Absolutely not his call to make.
There is no law requesting companies to be communicative.
There are however contracts and NDAs for employees and contractors..
I didn't say there are laws, I said it feels unprofessional for me.

And that's my last post concerning this, I said what I had to say and I don't think further discussion of this would change anyone's mind.

If you can play GT7 with a controller, then yes, it is very much so indeed. Tokyo Xtreme Racer on the other hand, that takes some getting used to, lol.

That's probably because they're not used to a controller in the first place. That'd be my guess anyway.

Most people complaining about lack of race cars don't really have a reason to do dailies because PD isn't giving them a reason to come back to it.

the tracks they have in the game are too big and wide to be interesting for slow road cars ( the cars they're adding) and they're not adding new tracks or adding new features.

90% of sport mode is Group 3 and group 4, most cars are incredibly out of date.

And both don’t have free dlc either
Assetto Corsa was 20 euros on Steam and I haven't payed another cent for the HUUUGE amount of content I've downloaded for it. If you want to drive every car in GT7 you either have to grind hundreds of hours or pay quite a lot of real cash.

Edit: I lied. I had to get the Japanese car pack to make the SRP mod work, so 23 euros is the total amount I've paid for AC.

But, since this is a GT thread, and you mentioned that you "bought a PC" etc...what was the total cost of purchasing the PC, and it's accessories, and then Assetto Corsa? Was that total cost worth it?

Also, Assetto Corsa Competizione is free with PS Plus...and I still can't drive it with my controller. So...you paid for a free game? Like, I have these games and I don't play them. They simply are not engaging.

It's only been this way for 28 years now. Do you think that maybe, just maybe, this won't change? This is making me think that these people want a different game, like NFS or Test Drive.

People on this forum got super excited by the addition of tracks from the first game, and the cry is still for more tracks. MOAR MOAR MOAR, but not the MOAR you are giving me, the MOAR that I want.

I do the dailies, literally, daily. At no point in time in the last 3 years of this game have I said to myself "gosh, if I only had the latest version of (enter car name here)" Adding new cars for Sport Mode racing would be somewhat appreciated, but does it make the game better? Nope.

I have been a car enthusiast for my entire life, and there are A LOT of cars to pick from. 12million+ people have 12million+ opinions on what cars should be in the game and none of us get to make that call.

I didn't get a PC solely for Assetto Corsa so it's not really relevant how much the cost was, but less than it would cost me to buy a third of all cars in GT7 with real money, I'll tell you that much, but I'd never do that which is why I'll never drive most of the cars in GT7.

Assetto Corsa Competizione does not interest me one bit. I have no idea why you brought that into the conversation. Oh, and I'm sorry that you're not very good with a controller. Your point being?

I'd say that it's the BoP that has the final say whether if adding new race cars for Sport Mode would be worth it. Having the newer 2020 AMG GT3 model was nice and good enough to replace its 2016-counterpart. The BRZ GT300 is one of my favorite cars for its handling, and the Genesis X Gr.3 was (from what I could remember) a good all rounder when it was new.

But would it matter when a typical Gr.3 race around Watkins Glen is filled with M6 GT3s, because the BoP favors that car more?

exactly

They added the Ford GT...I barely use it.

Not really, GT was built off having tracks that were suited to slower cars, like El Capitan, Autumn Ring, Grindelwald, or had smaller variants of classic tracks.

People on this forum got super excited by the addition of tracks from the first game, and the cry is still for more tracks. MOAR MOAR MOAR, but not the MOAR you are giving me, the MOAR that I want.

That's why you have more tracks, so you have more likelihood of pleasing everyone.

Good for you. A lot of people feel the experience online is stale, and disengage. That doesn't mean they don't like racing, that means that they like racing and GT isn't offering it to them.

Personally I would prefer they add new features, tracks and weather so we are not just doing the same races thing over and over, however I am explaining why people disengage from playing the game.

Ok, and most cars in the game can't be raced properly, because the AI sucks and there's no balanced BoP for road cars to race with other people.

The features don't support making full use of the cars in the game. So when people see interesting cars added that they can't really use then they are going to voice their opinion on it.

It is a discussion forum, nobody said that PD will listen.

The fact the responses under his posts were overwhelmingly positive and constructive didn't really matter in the end

IMHO quite a sad state of affairs when as a game developer you can't be open to the most positive feedback possible without fearing for your job
Having met a PD employee a few years ago, I can attest to this. He asked I not share much of what he shared with me/showed me beyond very tight or trusted circles. The studio is very, very, very secretive over everything they do, even when it’s an industry standard practice.

Out of respect for his job security and me wanting to retain a potential contact with the studio for the future I’ve never shared much of my experience. (and plus it’s not like I learned anything revolutionary, mainly just some BTS operational stuff on how they make things - that said I did learn about a few cars coming to the game before launch/DLC additions, like the Cappuccino specifically). I haven’t interracted with the guy in any way in a while, but maybe I’ll be able to safely share one day. He had some cool stories.

If you're that fed up with the lack of "modern" race cars in GT7, why not play ACC? It has all the current GT3 cars that you know and love! No point boxing yourself into one game and then complaining when said game doesn't give you the cars you want. It's stupid.
Accessibility is the big problem for people who want to do online racing. You need around 70 Safety rating to even get into a Competition server. All races, to my knowledge, are open setup as well. If you are afraid of a tuning sheet you are not going to find a home there. Players will need to hit the books, which is not good for people who want to skip to the driving and battling.

But I agree with you. Not only are there alternatives to Gran Turismo, any racing title with more focus is going to have those additions these players are looking for, and often in better quality.

Personal gripe, 'modern racecars' pretty much being Sports car or Formula (road) racing adjacent when discussing what new cars to be added...

...These are also a modern race cars. The track list naturally makes us prioritize a specific type of car, but we don't always need to stick to that particular type of racing.

A funny note related to this, I was able to get Assetto Corsa Ultimate Edition for $10 in a Steam sale. I sometimes seen sales for even less than that over the years.

I bought a gaming PC myself for around $1,500 and well; the reply I made to the comment above explains what I paid for Assetto Corsa. Though I personally didn't buy the PC for Assetto Corsa, I paid for the computer to be used as a gaming device and something to do work on for some Freelancing. For that, I would say I got my money's worth easily. Not just for Assetto Corsa (though I've gotten a lot of gameplay time out of it, I'll admit). But for other things I've done on it for work or to play a bunch of other games and mods for certain games.

Back to the price though, the price of entry into PC gaming or enjoying Assetto Corsa with mods doesn't have to be that expensive. My first time playing AC for instance was on a slim Dell Optiplex desktop that was around $180 and with a $110 GTX 1050ti Graphics card. and someone could probably get that PC setup for even a cheaper price. Honestly the price for PC gaming varies. It can be from $50 to thousands of dollars.
