i wanted to buy a pedal adapter for my new gt3. it was priced at £11. after i went through all the different menus and set up a account i got to the checkout page and the price had rocketed to £31.50! i then went through another wall of text and found in the small print that they were charging me £20.50 for the shipping of a item that ways less then half a kilogram.
after seeing this i checked how much they were charging for the rennsport cockpit and to my amazement i saw it was over a £100. if i was spending over a grand on a product the least I'd expect is free shipping!

on another note i was wondering if anyone new if somewhere was selling pcb to ps/2 (i think thats the name of the connectors) at a slightly more reasonable price

The shipping isn't done by Fanatec but by UPS.
I didn't find shipping pricey, I found it quite reasonable. My package's (14.1kg) shipping cost was 80 euros from Germany to Serbia. Not bad in my book.

I reckon it's because UPS are very reliable and they use tracking system, so you always know where your package is (or was, depending on the update rate).

Every decent shipper use tracking system, it's Fanatech getting fooled by UPS, or they booth want to fool customers.

This is straight from their website:

Shipping, Handling & Processing Charges
The shipping, handling and processing charges are designed to compensate our company for the services we provide that enable our customers the convenience of ordering from us and receiving delivery of our products, including but not limited to handling and processing your order, packaging and shipping your purchases, and providing you customer service and support, as well as overhead costs associated with these services.

It looks to be more than UPS charges. I'd rather shipping charges be a pure pass through rather than a margin maker or overhead recovery mechanism, but it's their decision.

Is it the G25 to fanatic adaptor your after?

I might have one lying around..

as for "FANATEC shipping prices are a joke!" I don't see anyone laughing :)

I believe the problem is 17 euro of that is tax, nothing Fanatec can do about that. Best to order everything in the one go.

Their products are bulky and heavy. They're a niche type company. They generate business for UPS and want a cut of it. Theiir explanation is reasonable. A little pricey but no biggie.

They charged me 22 dollars US to ship a GT3 and CSP. It cost me 15 to send just one of those back for repair. That doesn't seem terribly unreasonable.

129 $ for shipping CSL in Canada ??? When I ordered my CSR Elite, it was about 30$.
So 299$ for the CSL, 129$ for shipping, something like 100$ for customs fee... :(

I guess it depends on what you order and where it's coming from. I recently ordered a new circuit board for my CSW and it cost $3.50 to ship.

I need a new load cell for my CSP V1s but paying £20 shipping on top of the £15 for the load cell itself is a little bit silly.

If your CSP are not older than 2 years, a defective load cell is covered by the warranty. Just in case you are not aware of this.

Fanatec customer service has replied :

"in March we changed all our shipping costs as USPS also increased their shipping."

Ok. But from 30$ to 129$, it is not acceptable.

I will order on simulation1.ca I guess...

I was Mahnegold, but these were bought second hand and the person I bought them didn't have the invoice.

Fanatec is a joke. I've wanted a CSRE wheel since they were first introduced.

I've never ordered one and have since sold my Xbox and Forza. At first it was because they weren't in stock. Then I tried one and the wheel rim is cheap and they were riddled with problems. Clearly product was released with only manufacturing QC in place as the platform itself was largely untested given failures due to design flaws.

Now I look at their site and now the wheel is still not in stock, and it's $599 USD?!? I'm not sure if anyone has noticed but that is a SIGNIFICANT (50%!) price increase from the original MSRP of $399 USD. The wheel looks exactly the same. IIRC these never actually sold for MSRP because of some shipping cost excuse. Coincidence?

How can this company have so many fanboys? Clearly pricing is sketchy at best. There are only a few reasons for such a HUGE price discrepancy. The original MSRP reflected an extremely low margin and was not profitable, the original design not up to the task and redesign(s) have increased cost per unit, or perhaps someone is just plain greedy and will increase the price until people stop buying them.

I can't blame them for their practices because people seem to enjoy paying more and more for the same product.

In the future though I vote more people that come forward as loyal Fanatec customers disclose how much they paid for their setup. There seems to be a select few that religiously promote these products, and I have a feeling they paid about 50% (or less) of that MSRP in exchange for a review.

November 24 2011

I purchased the Csr, Csp, and shifters. This is coppied from my bill;

1 PWPEDALC Porsche Wheel Pedal Cable 1 pcs 2,00
2 CSR USA Forza Motorsport CSR Wheel USA 1 pcs 249,95
3 CSP-USB Porsche Wheel Clubsport Pedals 1 pcs 199,95
4 CSR SS CSR Shif ter Set 1 pcs 59,95
5 shipping charge2 shipping charge CANADA 1 pcs 38,00
Total Amount USD 549,85

$549.85 plus $35 at the border was more than fair to me. If Fanatec has changed their shipping policies, then they have made a terrible choice if it adds over $150 in shipping.

Only a minor correction:

The original price should have been 499$ but was never sold for that price. It was sold for 539$ because the first batch was delivered via airfreight. However the price was never lowered to the announced 499$ after that first batch. In the meamwhile the price was raised to 599$. This was never announced or explained on any of Fanatec's chanels (Thomas' blog, Facebook, etc.)

You're looking at around $460 from them.
