Discuss...speculate...exaggerate!

:D

My views our hopes....

  • Do like the new menu LED built into the rim but don't think XB1 supports speedo function technically?
  • Wheel has gotta be dual PS4/XB1 compatible, changing TM wheels is annoying!
  • Want it to be better than T500 not just a new repackaged CSR
  • Considering how many rims Thrustmaster seem to be selling I'd hope for a QR type function for different rims
  • Price £300 - £400 if a new CSR £235 - £300 (£/$)

Look for it to be Fanatec's answer to the G920 on the XBONE. Obvious X button under the hub. The top display is the standard Fanatec tuning menu. Rim looks like it's probably textured plastic. I'm calling it pricewise at $400 if it's a brushless motor, $250 if it just reuses the CSR/GT2 style base and drive system.

More I look at it seems to me the Xbox buttons are on right and the PS4 are on the left with d-pad akin to the CSR.

To my eyes it looks like the d-pad is the same as the one on the CSR. However, I'd rather you were right & it works on XB1 & PS4.

:)

Just before me getting the TM 300 for PS4, if this works in both consoles it will be great...... BUT I guess licensing won't allow them to do that.

Am I the only one who thinks this is just a wheel rim for the CSW V2? As much as I want it to be the wheel base that replaces the PW/CSR series, this just reeks of new wheel rim option.

Glass half empty on this one.

No, it's not. Shifters are attached to the wheel itself. Completely separate wheel.

Yeah, I doubt either M$ or $ONY would let that fly. But it would be awesome, even if just to see Fanatec get a Sony license.

I don't know what the limitations/factors are and yes even Logitech G29 had to do two wheel bases just like Thrustmaster have for each platform. So perhaps it is a requirement and wish-full thinking on my part.

However
  • Why cant Fanatec then build a new wheel base akin to T300/T500 performance and have detachable rims.
  • The rims themselves as individual products could have the X1 / PS4 required hardware and use one wheel base.
  • They already have done it with the X1 for the CSV2.
  • Why could Fanatec NOT get a PS4 hardware license, Logitech/Thrustmaster both did?

It would be cheaper to buy a X1/PS4 rim with the requred licesce/hardware included than buying 2 full wheels and you have none of the swapping over to do.

For all we know this could be a T150 level of product just for X1

  • Who knows, it would be cool, but I imagine there's a cost barrier, plus they're already supporting one line of crazy expensive rims. Why doesn't the T150 support the wheel rims?

  • Right, agree.

  • Yep. Although paying $400 for the XBOX ONE hub and then another possible $400 for a future PS4 hub... OUCH.

  • Again, who knows, I'd imagine they never have because they haven't had to, but the backdoor way they got in before (as a Logitech wheel) is gone and the backdoor way they're on PS4 (provide the driver to the developer) is awesome, but it probably won't get them in GT, and really isn't that the endgame for any PS4 driving wheel?

  • Yeah, I mean, if companies could all just get along that would be awesome, but I'd imagine the issue lies somewhere in between limits of technology, if it's a viable product, and corporate dick measuring. If anyone could pull it off tho, it's Fanatec.

  • Yeah, that is pretty much what I'd expect it is, the XBONEs T150... who wants to bet that TM has a TX150 ready to launch?

Thomas replied in iRacing forum so I will share here as well. I hope he doesn't mind.
"A lot of iracers are waiting for a DD wheel but this will not the one which will be released next week.

We will announce our DD wheel when we are ready for production. We also don't think that we are too late because so far there is no other user friendly and plug&play solution for multiple platforms with highest power and good price performance on the market.

And the mass market products give us the power to develop and manufacture much more advanced high-end wheels so this is why we first bring more mass market friendly products to the market."

As a CSR user i am definitely interested in this new 'CSR' so to speak. Just hope they don't pull a Logitech on us and just repackage things. If it is a true upgrade tech and feel wise, i would be willing to pick one of these up in the future :dopey:

If not, well then i just stick to what i have now.

ps. I was just doing a session of Dirt before i saw this thread, and i was thinking to myself when Fanatec was going to launch it's budget successor, and here we are!

As a CSR user, I'd be perfectly happy with a repackaged wheel. It keeps the cost down. ;)

Looks nice and the price is in line with what would make it popular.
Fanatec could very much be back in the race... :)

Maintaining the same hub making all rims compatible with the new CSL base is good for PC users and owners of console platforms.

Curious to see what console developers will utilise the new REV & LED feature?

It will be interesting to see what price point the CSL base will come in at, because it doesn't need to have the licensed chips for console compatability, plus the rims being seperate I imaging they are going to have a very competitive product here

So buy a CSL and CSW v2 and have PC, Xbox One, and PS4 (for the time being) compatibility? Am I reading this right? It does mention a universal hub in "Platforms" section which is why I am confused.

Darned, TM 300 with Ferrari wheel bundle will be available in the US December 5th. I doubt I'll wait longer for the new fanatec base

I like this part of the description::D

Future Proof
By integrating the Xbox One specific electronics into this hub, there is a higher chance that you can use most of your wheel system in future

Did you guys notice that there's a new quick release system ?

Well, I didn't see that coming. New rim... and an upcoming CSL base huh? Maybe in the $300 range. More of a TX fighter than an XBOX T150 then.

Hey Fanatec, how about a conversion kit for CSRE owners!?!
