Dear friends and fellow hobbyists,

I am new in the market to purchase a cockpit. Primarily to play F1 and iRacing.

Any advice on whether to go for Fanatec's new GT Cockpit (release date Jan 30, 2025) or the TrackRacer TRX?

Both adjustable, nice looking, I don't need the sturdiest setup since I am not a semi-pro, but looking for a good value for money. Any reviews you have seen of the Fanatec? Link?

Appreciated!
Best, E.

Are these your preferred choices or are they hard requirements? (asking because for these prices you get into 8020 alu profile rig territory with a lot more flexibility)
Both use (steel?) tubes designs but from pictures alone the trakrace has more options for seats/seating positions.

I disagree; get the sturdiest setup you can get: it will allow you to use a wide range of wheelbases and (brake) pedals and to use the required forces without having to fear to break/bend/move anything.

The Fanatec GT cockpit seems expensive for what it is & the TR isn't cheap either. Don't forget you need to add the cost of a seat for both so that pushes the prices up to £1200-1300 which I definitely wouldn't call value for money.
If you want value for money have a look at the GT Omega Prime Lite, I've had one for a while and am really happy with it. Good value at about £520-620 depending on the seat chosen.

Uff, you are already going for expensive ones right from the start. There are cheaper alternatives that might also be to your suiting, especially as they seem to be your first rig? (at least that's how I understood your post).

As an example, I'm using the Next Level Racing F-GT. (Not Elite or Lite, just F-GT). It comes with a cheap seat included for roughly 400-500 €/$ if I'm not mistaken.
I've upgraded the seat to the Next Level Racing ES1, as the included seat is - in my opinion - not suited for Load Cell pedals. The pressure is a bit strong so you're forced a bit hard into the seat, so I was able to feel the metal structure behind the actual seat. Not comfortable. But that was not an issue when I used non-loadcell pedals before that.
I'm using the Fanatec DD Extreme and CSL Elite V2 pedals as a reference.

Sure, the Fanatec rig looks nice, but is really expensive. Plus the seat would be an additional purchase. At the very least I would wait for some reviews once it's released before buying it.

Thanks, all good perspectives, really appreciated!

For now, could only find one review (in Dutch) of the Fanatec cockpit, please find it here, rather positive! But for sure, will wait for more reviews to follow in the coming days.

I don't know that page but a short skim over a translated version makes me think this is more of an affiliate post or recollection of a press release rather than an actual review...
