I imagine if you plough through only the story missions, it'd be fast and certainly faster a second time around. I can't recall it being short originally though (mind you, I do love exploring!)

In other news - FC5 gets photo mode today, plus a swathe of other stuff in prep for Lost in Space:

Excellent - I just hope that Lost in Space is better than the last DLC, as I found that rather too linear and light.

I have finished all of the hunting challenges, couple of the time trials, 2 of the Rakyat trials and everything else required for the platinum. Can't recall what my playtime is atm but I would say <30 hours.
I suppose since I completed everything first time round I didn't explore as much since I have seen most of it.
Just need to start the FC5 dlc now.

Did anyone else get the desert eagle from the weekly challenge recently?

Some very nice screenshots in this thread, @MeanElf. Are they modified in any way, or just 4K straight out of a PS4 Pro?
Cheers - they're straight screen captures - risked a few encounters with all HUD elements switched off. I'm hoping the update happens soon though, as I'm going to be away tomorrow and I'm definitely keen to see what a proper photo mode will be like.

So, not just the main story, both islands too? Damn, you're fast.

I wasn't even aware of the weekly challenges and participation events - they don't seem to advertise them in-game much, which is a shame really. I only heard of the current one by going to their Twitter account (plus I've been playing Onrush for the past month :))

I've only taken out my first AA gun and killed my first NVA Officer so, not done too much yet - I do like the atmosphere and how the VC soldiers occasionally spring out of the jungle at you. If I was feeling brave enough, I should try a spell without any tagging turned on, to ramp up the tension.

EDIT: Judging by the photo mode introduction info, looks like character expressions, including for Boomer etc., will be included too:

It's going to make having all those outfits worthwhile.

Aww wait, you missed the shovel launcher?

I think it was a month or so after release they began. They are pretty easy and they reset every Tuesday. The prizes are usually guns that weren't included in the original game but they also have pretty wild skins.

I actually have the shovel launcher 👍 found it in my inventory along with a shed-load of other kit and skins - I assumed they were just gifts as I don't recall doing anything to get them :)

A lot of the skins are actually just gifts, although there are some that were part of the weekly challanges. I happened to miss the Shovel Launcher week, unfortunately :(

Hi @MeanElf @ImaRobot Have you tried the new photo mode yet.? I am just curious to whether it is 4K Sharp and detailed like AC Origins or is it like the Crew2 (work around the details/jaggies to get the best photos etc). I still might pick this game up as the Mars DLC looks interesting but I am still not sure i will enjoy it all :ill:

I haven't yet as I'm at work, but I plan to give it a shot once I get home. I'll let you know later.

Odd that I have it - there again, I do have the Gold Edition and Season Pass, so maybe that throws extra perks my way.

All three DLC mini-games are now present in the menu.

As for photo mode Mr @torque99 - it's very similar to The Crew 2 but better, sharper, smoother and easier. These are from the standard PS4 - I include one with dust, so you can see there are no problems with jaggies. I'll probably start a new Flickr album for this game but for now I need to help with food and do a few other things. Hopefully I'll have time later for more than just the fifteen minutes I had for these pics:

I do as well, and now that I think of it, I think I also have it available in the menu's. It could have been one of those weekly community events though, as we're almost guaranteed to win whatever they're offering even if we don't participate ourselves, I think.

Also, the pics look good on a standard PS4, I wonder how it'll play out for the One X/PRO.

That makes sense alright - the same happened with Techland in Dying Light, the community got certain items regardless.

I should think the detail and tonal variation will be better on the upper end machines - the filters are pretty decent too; only a few but they cover a good range.

Thanks @MeanElf & @ImaRobot I am very tempted by this now. It is a shame there isn't a demo or it is in the sale. I will keep an eye on the photos incoming. All these games! Finding the time now is my main problem.
Indeed, I'd wait a bit until you've seen a wider variety of shots, I mean the action can get hectic and hilarious (bears on fire attacking people you are trying to talk to) but I have not idea yet how that will translate. I have seen that pausing whilst aiming, doesn't show your character doing that.

Yeah I noticed that too. My character seems to just keep the rifle down at chest height. He doesn't aim down the barrel.

Very nice editor, but there is one important thing I wish they would change: The FOV slider should be expanded to allow for a lot more zoom. It goes from 60-120 (IIRC). It should be expanded downwards to about 10 or so. Maybe even 5. That way we could pull out far away and zoom in to compensate. It would make the mountains a lot more majestic, and also give that cool "reduced distance effect" betweeen objects/people, so they seem closer to one another than they really are. Also, it would allow us to really get up in the face of our character. The way it is now, if you get too close he/she simply disappears.

I have dabbled a bit in photography before, but I always seem to forget the basics. Here is a very nice refresher with specifically aperture explained in a very simple way: https://photographylife.com/landscapes/aperture-and-f-stop-explained-for-beginners.

I took a couple of screenies. Will post later. :)

Oh, and I almost forgot: If you're on a PC (and don't have a 4K monitor) and use Virtual Super Resolution (AMD) or Dynamic Super Resolution (Nvidia) to take screenies, then you need to use software that captures the screen before the image gets scaled down to 1080p, or whatever your monitor's native resolution is.
I wasn't aware of this myself but read it here: https://www.pcgamer.com/how-to-take-screenshots-on-pc/.
Recommended softwares for this:
MSI Afterburner
Geforce Experience
Windows DVR

It's also worth noting that some hosts like Imgur will compress your screenshots (i.e. reduce the quality), while for example Flickr will not. Anyway, it's all there in that PCGamer article.

@MeanElf Maybe you could use spoiler tags. The page won't display properly for me on mobile.

The photos I could see were amazing though.
Cheers, I'll do that after three pictures :) though these are all images loaded directly to GTP - so, ones from Flickr or another host will be far larger and most folks tend to use that method. Perhaps in that case, the best approach would be view from home on a PC or tablet/laptop.

I will say it's a shame that there is no machine gun or pistol flare visible in photo mode when firing, so, I'm not sure if that'll affect your decision Mr @torque99

Indeed @ClydeYellow it's a bit of a dark horse and will doubtless produce some really fine pictures - some surprising issues though such as no parachute pack in free fall until you press 'X' (PS4) and no gun flare when firing a weapon (also, not being in-pose when going into photo mode whilst aiming a weapon.) Hopefully they might get patched. Good stuff though.

So I got hold of the Gold Edition @MeanElf & @ImaRobot as a gift. First off Amazon (Prime Now) which I had leaflets for but never used yet. Great service- First Order £10 off -2 hour slot guaranteed delivery to door ordered game before 8am -knock on door 10am! £41 delivered.👍

So I now have Season Pass DLC- I guess Zombies&Martians are not released yet as I only seem to have Hours of Darkness Vietnam? A very under rated game. Great vehicles, audio, weapons and beautiful scenery similar to the Crew2. I wish I had tried a Far Cry game before. Ubisoft this year have been one of my faves, AC origins and Crew2 are good too.

Photo mode is great in between Crew2 (for settings) and AC Origins for detail. Only things missing for me are Motion blur (shutter speed) for vehicles and FOV stops at 60 so no close zooming! but otherwise not bad on PS4 Pro but not as Sharp in detail as AC Origins.

Are we all happy posting photos and discussion here as I may have a few :P and don't want to fill this with photos.
