I didn't realize Jesse's death was due to a manifold.
Totally forgot about the Jetta guy.

Hobbs is literally the center of "that's BS" with his super strength, covert-ops, specially trained government bounty hunter.
While I understand why they cast the Rock in the F&F franchise, I think he kind of broke the series. Not only is he very implausible, but he also undermines the character of Dominic Toretto by being the same 'type' but in a way more overtly charismatic way - the quiet, brooding, almost menacing Toretto of F&F1 (which I think was a great character) is rendered nearly invisible by the towering, operatic Hobbs. You can't really have two alpha male protagonists and when one's entire persona is subtle and the other's is very-conspicuous. It doesn't really work.
To be fair, the first Hobbs film - Fast 5 - is probably the high point for the series. It's a giggle throughout (except the bit where Hobbs's team gets wiped out, along with the shoehorned-into-this-film Vince) and the whole Chargers-pulling-a-ten-ton-safe thing is ridiculous but amusing, with a nicely comedic twist...Oh great! To me this series died when Dwayne Johnson came along with the supernatural attitudes and very weird cars. It became no longer about street racing & street races enthusiasts.
The only reason I’m going to see it is for the buddy-buddy slap stick humor Stathom and Johnson have. My brain will turn to mush if I even attempt to rationalize whatever the plot will be.And his name is......THE BUSTER!
Am I the only one who is actually looking forwards to Hobbes & Shaw? It looks absolutely nuts and completely stupid but I sort of like it for that.
