Since the first movie, the rice crowd has really proliferated and see so many stock cars with wing, its pitiful.
As a sport comact enthusiast and liking all cars, the movie really brought out the movie wannabees. If they were really into performance and not junk, they would be alright, but most add a wing, fart pipe and think they are fast.
Here is an example of what Im talking about.

These are examples of rice in the biggest ways.
The movie brought these ppl out and their attitudes toward tuning, or lack of it.
Now there may be some of you in the crowd reading this and want your opinion.
What do you think?
I hope this stirs up the emotion of the ppl reading this as Im sick and tired of these wannabees.
I see so many of them say they have this, that and dont even know what they mean?
Know what I mean?

Oh, I did love the first movie and was very entertaining. Most of the cars there were truly tuned cars, not what you see on the road today.

America is one huge fad,. dont' stress it,. their just snobby little rich punks who gotta be with the "in" croud. I'd line up with any one of em in my buddies 02' WRX and show em WTF It's tricked out, but not in that manor,.. he actually searched and found a muffler that make the car 'quieter', and also added 'realistic' mods like strut towers bracing,.. ect....


I wonder how many of the 'ricers' realize how fast they need to go before that wing actually does anything useful

That to me is the epitome of the riceboy attitude and not the true tuner.
Tuning is one thing, status symbol with a wing is another and am tired of it.
I guess red eye said it best, its a fad.

I just can't wait till the days come when I'm sitting there in my 400+ stock hp Shelby Cobra and one of these
'I'll put a wing and a muffler, lower it and paint it pretty then it'll go fast' drivers turns up (we call them Boy Racers here in NZ) and I burn his ass off, showing him what real power and tuning is.

Cobraboy, that happens all the time on the boards I visit.
These guys are true gear heads and have the muscle cars to haul serious booty and these ricers still think they can beat them. Go figure.
Just because the car has more so called power to weight ratio doesnt automatically make you faster than true muscle.
Ive burned so many of these street racers that think they are all that.
Heh, you shouldve seen the crowds when the first movie played and all the wannabees were revving, spinning tires, trying to go fast and generally making a mockery of themselves and their peer group.
Its all good, some will realize there is more to adding bolt ons to the car and will get the full message.

What I don't understand is they get Front Wheel Drive, 4 Cylinder cars and do them up thinking they're fast. FWD is one of the worst types of drivetrains you can have for competing seriously. 4 bangers, yes you can add turbo's to them to boost power and they rev high but they don't really produce that much power.

Their idiocy makes me laugh so hard sometimes.

True, but dont diss the fwd format too much.
Look at the IDRC and Import Nationals dragracing.
They now have front drivers pushing the low 7 second range and have finally got a fwd car doing over 200mph, so dont count them out just yet.
Now in the performance spectrum of going in corners, midship is best bar none.
Rwd is good but isnt the class of the midengined cars for sheer and brutal performance on the track.

I see a lot of cars like the ones pictured around Brisbane. They are stock apart from a turbo muffler and a K&N air filter. They line up at the lights and I blow them away in my 2.3 tonne Nissan Patrol. Bit of a shame job, if you ask me.

I have to agree, for any competition except for drag racing, Wrong Wheel Drive is not the way to go! Actually what truly makes me laugh is that joke in the Comedy Section about the riceboy driving nake and worrying about weight trying to race that guy with his girlfriend in a V6 mustang getting beat. Hillarious. BTW, due to the current state of my car, (destroyed), I get to drive around in my girl's purple V6 automatic mustang , but it is great burning those civics!!!

Thanks sludge, I keep it real and clean for that sleeper effect. Now if it would only take to the mods on it, it would prove to be fast. Thanks to OBDII technology, it counteracts any performance mods done to it so its a bit of a waste to make it faster. External ignition, here we come.

Yup, thats mostly the case America wide.
You'll only see the true tuners at the track and there are some of the ricers that go but always have the excuse for not being fast, just slow. Heh, thats why they are rice.

Lol, thats funny and is typical of the mentality of the beast.
Heh, I even do the weight reduction but with the clothes on.

This is the extreme version of my going weight reduction. It netted a 15.77 and that was before I became a better driver.
I appreciate all cars as my club attests to that. Its just been sanctioned with the state of Mississippe and is only one of two sanctioned car clubs, mine and the Cruisin the Coast ppl.
The cars in the club have no rice, love drag racing and winning in events at the track,( for real) and makes a name for itself that ppl want to join.

It's another fad, that's how I see it. Every couple of years or so, it's another automotive fad.

Five years ago, it was racing stripes and a label across the width of your windshield.

Ten years ago, it was extra wide tires and rims on compact cars and trucks, making them look like turtles. Lowering your car via spring cutting was the norm.

In the 80's, it was all about painting your car entirely white. Everything but the windows. Rocker panels, scoops, and little spoilers. Black louvers on rear-windows.

In the 70's it was the van that was a big deal. CB radios.

This automotive trend, too, shall pass. But it sure is annoying to see a Prelude try to look like a late-model Supra.

He actually thinks its functional.
Now he says its super charged with a 100 shot of nitrous. Right.
This is ricerism and needs to be ricercised with a ricercism of demon rice.

Yes, the movie sucked. I start talking about carbon fiber hoods and 15-inch rims (Example:

)to some of my friends, and they are like "Dude, throw that s***. Get some NNAWWWZ and 22's and you'll be fine."Because of that movie, the only cars that my friends know are the Civic and Supra. I show them something that actually goes fast, and it "sucks" because it doesn't have some huge tacky wing or non-functional body kid or neon under-lights.

My 2 cents.

I saw a Pontiac Sunfire the other day in a parking lot... the thing had a wing on the back that made it look incredibly stupid. Why people think they can "go fast" in a stock 6 cylinder car and smoke a high powered exotic is beyond me. Or better yet, why they think sticking a wing on it will help them go faster. Sure it will increase downforce on the car, but its not going to help the engine.

These are all ricers....ther are other kinds of rice...like a rice burner which a fast import.

A rice burner is something other than an import (Corvette, Mustang etc.) that can flog the absolute piss out of an import. Well thats my understanding of a rice burner.

If you talking about the Blue Honda in the Avatar of PoeticSoul, wrong.
With the exception of the wing, the car is clean and looks good. I dont agree with the wing on the car, that is my only beef with the car.
The car looks like the Si model so it should run pretty good. Nice car and no rice on that one, except the wing.

I don't really see why alot of people must make such a big deal of rice. It's not really hurting you. Nor is it effecting you much. It's the car owners desicion to modify there car. If that's what they want, power to them.

Ricer's are just another different group of people. For instance there are people who tatoo and peirce almost every part of their body and get crazy hair-do's. We can look at them and say that's not our style. But hey it's what they want.

I think it should be left at that.

Seems you know nothing of rice.
Rice is where you apply stickers all over your car and have none of the goods that the stickers represent.
Rice is a totally stock car with a huge wing attached, thinking they are fast.
Rice is the mentality that goes along with the above definitions.
That blue Honda is not rice. Sure the wing is, but the rest of the car is nice and just because the rims are 18's, how is that rice. Please explain your definition of the word rice and Ill have a better understanding of your statement.

I see so many at the track that think they are fast with just an intake and exhaust, how slow they really are.
To fix up a car is one thing, to add a bunch of worthless garbage to the car, ie: wings fart pipe with an otherwise stock exhaust, intake body kit on a slow car etc.

Ricer's are just another different group of people.

The movie spawned this sort of crowd. Remember, its not just the cars,its the attitude.
Look at the picture of the Honda in the first part of the post. The slogan on the bumper says it all.
Guess you just dont get it.
Oh well, in defense of the Blue Honda, its nice and say Kudos to keeping real, except for the wing.

It has 1065hp, but it also has the wheels, wing, and kit.

It's just a heavily modified ricer. I wouldnt mind a Supra but there is no point having that much power in a road registered car. The maximum amount of HP you can use efficiently around town is probably 300HP. He has that much power because he has a small penis and needs the attention .
