Fastest saloon how? 0-60? 1/4 mile? Top Speed? Fastest around a track?

I know it isnt the M5 anymore, cuz of the RS6 ( 450 bhp ). But then there is that mercedes with the 5.5L supercharged V8 giving out 500 bhp. Forgot the name of it tho. And soon the M5 will have a 5.0 V10 of 500 bhp as well, and there will be a new fastest saloon.... and so on. I just wonder at what bhp they will stop, because those horsepower figures belong to Supercars... not saloons. Oh well, crazy Germans.

Moving to correct forum.

My mommy has a green car, and it's really good. And my daddy's car is the fastest car in the country, it has really cool wheels and it's really good and the rear-view mirror is custom made.

This car is pretty damn ugly.

No... Quattro is right. The current BMW M5, Audi RS6, Mercedes E55 AMG and Jaguar S-Type R will all destroy this Alpina.

I still wouldnt mind having one of these tho... the styling may be old, but I like it.

The car i remember was a vauxhall lotus carlton
This beast did not far off 175 mph 280 km/h
It did 0/60 in 5.3 seconds and 0/100 in 10.9
It's engine was straight/6 with a turbo
The break horse power was 377bhp
Very very fast saloon if that is the sort of car you's are on about

Laters

P.s i have more about this car if you want to know

Eff you.

Fastest saloon in the world is the current M5/RS6/E55 crop who are all limited to 155 electronically. Not sure where the RS6 and E55 go when unlimited.

And I quote:

"The fastest standard production saloon car in the world was unveiled by Bentley at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The 450bhp, 168 mph (270 km/h) Arnage T is the most powerful car in Bentley's 83-year history, and the result of a three year project to re-engineer the Arnage saloon from bumper to bumper." "PRESS RELEASE April 2002
New World Record for fastest 4-door sedan
KLEEMANN test driver Jason Watt (paralysed from the waist down after tragic motorcycling accident 1999) will be attempting to break the record for the world’s fastest street legal 4-door saloon. A record of 330 km/h currently held by Brabus’ GmbH. Set in 1997 with the Brabus EV12 7,3.

It is a truly awesome experience, witnessing a 1900kg Mercedes Benz E-Class charging at over 300 km/h! At trackside, one is compelled to compare the sight and sound with that of a low flying jet fighter, such is the ferocity of the spectacle!

As the vehicle races past us, the laptop reads:
338 km/h! A New Record!" (Kleeman.com, 04/03)

"Lotus Omega (1989)
Launched in 1989, this car was the world's fastest 4-door saloon for more than a decade. It was based on the contemporary generation of Opel Omega, which appeared as Vauxhall Carlton in Britain, therefore it was also called Lotus Carlton. Lotus Engineering was employed to transform the executive sedan into an exotic supercar.
2 turbochargers were added to the standard 3.6-litre straight-six engine, accompanied with a new 24-valve cylinder head, power jumped to 376 hp. The maximum torque was even more astonishing, with 419 lbft, it nearly matched Ferrari F40 ! Autocar magazine found it took just 5.1 seconds for 0-60, while top speed was limited by an oval track to 164 mph. However, given the pretty aerodynamic efficient appearance (the orignal Omega was as good as 0.28), it was believed to be capable of 180 mph. Wow !

Omega was very roomy, so was Lotus Omega. But compare with its main competitor, BMW M5, it was far less successful. Maybe it looked odd, or without the precise handling of M5, or not so well built, it was not quite accepted by the market.

At the time of writing, Lotus Omega still holds the title of the world's fastest saloon.

Specifications
Model Lotus Omega
Year of production started 1989
Number produced 950
Layout Front-engined, Rwd
Engine Inline-6, dohc, 4v/cyl, twin-turbo
Capacity 3615 c.c.
Power 377 hp
Torque 419 lbft
Gerabox 6M
Weight 1655 kg
Top speed 180 mph (estimated)
0-60 mph 5.1 sec*" (AutoZine) - this car is identical to the Lotus Carlton...

So it looks like no-one else can decide either - but the Kleeman E-class I think gets the nod... :D

ALL BMW's are limited to 155mph EXCEPT Alpina's.
Alpina Remap the WHOLE ECU and unlimit it
An ALPINA B10 Bi Turbo would eat any other Car on the road
A Supercharged B10 would eat any other BMW on the road. They may be old but they can still beat the best of em

What do you mean by saying " An ALPINA B10 Bi Turbo would eat any other Car on the road " ? Top speed ?

Yes so you change the chip in the car to remove the limiter, and then your Alpina will be eaten alive by the M3 and the M5 without any problems. Just because your dad happens to own one does not mean it is the fastest. And Im not really interested in companies like Alpina because they modify the BMW. If they would make their own cars it would already be different. Thats why at the moment, M5, RS6, E55 AMG are the top contenders, with the RS6 and E55 AMG slightly ahead of the M5... But not for long :mischievous: ( Rumour has it the new M5 will be 7-speed with that 5.0L V10 of 500 bhp -- A new Monster M :mischievous: )

👍 My only exception to this is Brabus because they have their own dealers - how does one BUY an Alpina?

The Brabus 7.3 EV12 IS the fastest 4-door car in the world. It is capable of 208mph.

No four-door car has ever gone faster.

I know of a Breyton BMW 3 series which has 528 bhp from a 3.2L turbo engine. Its four door, but max speed is 205 mph, which doesnt top the Brabus.

Edit: Its also said that the car handles so well, that too maintain oil pressure in the curves, a special pump had to be installed in the trunk.

I saw Brabus is about to beat their own 4-door record.

They're putting the TTv12 in the new E-class and it will have a electronically limited top speed of 340 km/h. That is just crazy.

EDIT: 640 hp and 1.026 nm. It will be built in a small series starting this summer.
