People often have favorite athletes or musicians, but the real cultured and educated people on this world have favorite visual artists.
I've got two real standouts in mind, one is subversive abstract, who is more or less unknown, and the other is a surrealist and a lot more known.
The first is James Choules from the UK, but better known as SheOne:

He's got an amazingly unique look to his work, which is hardly ever confined to a specific canvas. Instead he uses the entire wall to work with, obviously inspired by his graffiti origins. He's even gone to expanding his lines to the floors and ceilings of his pieces. Watching him paint is also very captivating, as he takes a single can of paint and works with that as his only tool. Unfortunately he has removed his website, so finding examples of his work has gotten rather difficult.
The second artist is Rene Magritte:

Magritte was a Belgian surrealist responsible for the famous The Son of Man:

I'm not too sure why I like his work so much, I guess it has a sort of Monty Python-esque feel to it that attracts me. My favorite painting being this extremely confusing piece titled This Is Not a Pipe:

Who is your favorite artist? Is there maybe a specific piece of artwork that you like? Please share.
