You know the makes....

:audi: :bmw: :ferrari: :tvr: :mercedes :jaguar: :lambo: :Porsche: :Peugeot: :saab: :volvo:

Just to name a few.

I don't know that I would choose a w8.... I would take a porsche 911 turbo, a GT2, or a GT3 before I took a w8 passat...

Of course, I would rather have an Ultima GTR or Canam, or possibly a hamman M3. Definately the GTR... and pocket 50g's

i would probly have to choose between a bmc morris mini cooper, a bmc 1100 ( hydrolastic suspension  ), or possibly an xj220 but only if it had the v12 (v6 🤬 )

Then no XJ220 for you!!!

TWR built a car called the XJR15 in 1990 that ran the V12 (on the back of the Le Mans success Jaguar enjoyed around that time) that ran a 6 litre version of the Jaguar V12.

It was a very pretty thing - rare as hens' teeth, though. They ran a one-make series for them at a few European GPs in either 1990 or 1991, not sure how many they made, probably less than 200. It was in Gran Turismo 2.

If I won the big one in lotto I'd love one of these - but I think there's only one in Australia. I seriously doubt you'd land one in the US for under $150k - if you could find one.

One of my less expensive favorites

It's a little on the heavy side for a small car but I have been waiting for a 220-plus hp car from VW. Even if we may never see it in the US. :(

Oooh, lots of money to play with! ;) I'm guessing it's US dollars, and not British pounds or Euros....

Audi RS6 sedan [M5 beater, IMO]
BMW M3 CSL [it's out by now, isn't it?]
Ferrari 360 Modena
Jaguar S-Type R [almost an M5 beater]
Lotus Exige [lightweight toy, just not for every day]
Mercedes C32 [light enough to escape the MB stodiness]
Noble M12 GTO [one of many regrettably not on sale in the US]
Porsche 911 C2 [coupe, RR true to Porsche...else go for a classic]
Porsche 911 turbo [duh!]
Renault Clio V6 [just keep it from spinning]
Seat Leon Cupra R [a true VAG hot hatch; not a Golf]
TVR Tuscan R [just one look....]

So to pick one? The RS6, of course. Extra bonus: it's on sale here in the US! :D

i heard that when jaguar made the xj220 that it originally had a v12 in it and went 200+ but when they sold the cars to selected buyers (unkowing)that they had put a v6 in there because it was too much power for them to handle and didnt want to be responsible for anything.

Incorrect. The reason they sold the car with the 550bhp twin-turbo V6 instead of the 540bhp V12 is that they couldn't get the V12 car to pass the emissions tests, but if they fitted the equipment to get it through the emissions tests, it would have had less than the 500bhp needed to get it over the double-ton.

Also, if the 150,000 in question is in fact UK Pounds Sterling, you can have a brand new, delivery-mileage, LHD XJ220 and still have enough left over to build a garage and insure it (maybe!). Last I heard, the price was down to £130,000.

I was just thinking about that one myself.

my favorite kind of car that is affordable would be either a porsche 944 or a TVR speed 6 , it kinda depends on what engine size ya get, usually the smaller the engine size of a car is the less expensive it is, yet..... THOSE CARS JUST AIN'T GOT DA POWER.!

Mine, too.

Jaguar S-Type R [almost an M5 beater]

Glad to say that this is NEVER happening! Have you driven the S-Type R yet? It's got body roll that the M5 would never dream of! No way this thing even comes close to the M.

No, I haven't driven it yet, but I don't think it's all that close to an M5 either. An automatic will never truly have a place in a sports sedan, be it compact or midsize. And the body roll I'm not too surprised at; it is, after all, a Lincoln LS. ;)

I could get 3 Euro cars for $150,000:
1. I'll import the VW Golf R32 direct form Germany (anyway we have the same steering position, LHD), It will be my collector car.
2.Mini Cooper S- my commuter car.
3.Audi RS6 or BMW M5- I can't make up my mind!!!!!

If I'll only one, I'll pick the BMW-powered Range Rover (now until 2004, after that it will be a Jaguar-powered engine, w/c that engine sucks)

Also avaliabe will be the engine from the Aston Martin DB7 Vantage.

But Ford-made engines suck.

Well it 4:00 am PST time to go to bed.
See ya in a couple of days (I don't have a PC).
