Ferrari is testing a supercar on the streets near its Maranello headquarters in Italy: A successor to the 575M Maranello that may be christened 600 Imola.

Designed by Pininfarina, the 600 Imola is said to share its platform with the 612 Scaglietti. It will be larger, faster and more powerful than the 575M, with a new 6.0-liter V-12 engine reportedly around 590 horsepower.

The new Ferrari may be unveiled at the Detroit auto show in January.

looks nice i think, and that engine is quite powerful

Thats not the final design, thats just a test mule. The final desing won't be shown until the Detriot show.

looks like they mutated a 911 and a 'vette into each other.

It looks like the 612 Scaglietti, because thats where most of the bodywork came from, like I said, it's a pic of a test mule, nothing more.

I'm liking the styling, based on the taped up test mule. Looks like a less ugly 612; more agressive looking. That engine is going to be magnificent. 590hp Ferrari V12. It's going to sound brilliant.

It may have that Scaglietti look to it, but I actually like it, or at least this model. Maybe I was thinking about something like this as I'm watching my video tape on the 2004 24 Hours of Le Mans, which features the 550 Maranellos and 575Ms. I've never really liked any one of those, but the Scaglietti's styling is sugar sweet. I'd sure like to see a GT1 racing variant of this machine.

Of course, we'll have to wait until the Detroit show (as Live4Speed mentioned) to see what this may eventually look like.

The 600 looks beautiful as it is but I'd suspect that since it is a black development mule that Ferrari just made it look similar to the 612 to confuse people as to its real appearance. However, even if it does look like that I certainly won't be disappointed, I always thought the 612 was lovely too.

Ferrari:
It's true. The new 2006 Ferrari 600 Imola will be the new Maranello. Ferrari had decided that they wanted to get a new design look for both the Maranello, and 360. I know alot of you have already heard about Ferrari's new 360.
The 600 Imola will be a bit bigger than the Maranello with a longer wheelbase, roomier cabin, and addition luggage capacity. Like the Scaglietti, the new 600 Imola will use aluminum space frame construction, but unlike it's 532-bhp V12, the Imola's 6.0 liter version will produce between 580 and 600Bhp.
A new convertible should be in production by 2007 or 2008.

Old news :P September 2004.

That is just some more background information, this thread has very little of that, just more of "it looks like car X mated with car Y".

I'll just quote this, because live4speed seems to have given up on you all.
