I was over at a friends house while he was doing the FGT Championship. He was just starting Monza when we noticed it was raining heavily (in game), so we decided to put on Racing Wet tyres.
The race starts and all the AI take off like rockets, but his bob only crawls off the line and peaks out at 70mph for the whole race.
We think it might be something to do with the rain tyres although we have no idea why they would be the issue, but it's the only thing we can think of. So we get him to pit and change to racing intermediate. These work better, and we left him go for 5 more laps, but all the while he was still losing ground on the pack. They had already lapped him, but now with the new tyres he was at least 1.5 seconds slower than the AI per sector. So although better, he still had no chance of ever catching them.
We checked what tyres the AI were on that seemed to be giving them the advantage. They were driving Sports Super Softs? What are these? They can't be bought, but seem to be clearly better than rain tyres in wet conditions.
How can Bob compete with something like this?
In the end we quit the race and decided to move on. He was still first in the Championship with one race to go so all wasn't lost... Until we saw that the next track was Suzuka, in the rain.
We started on Racing intermediate this time in the hope that if we stick with the pack we might be able to survive until the rain stops. Once again though, we get left behind at the line. The AI is now 5 seconds ahead at the end of the first lap, and now Bob wants to pit.
We let him, just to see what he wants. He changes his tyres to racing wet, and takes no fuel. We hope this will make a difference. It does. He now won't go over 100mph at any point on the track, and he wants to pit again.
Once again we let him, as by this stage we have nothing to lose. Bob drives into the pits, and straight out the other side. He doesn't stop. But he still wants to pit. He finishes his lap and pits again. And again, he doesn't stop, and still wants to pit.
What is going on here? How can we avoid this other than hoping we don't come across a wet track?
Bob was lvl31 btw.
