Am I blind or is this just stupid?

I actually like how rain is handled in GT7. I just wish we know there was a chance of rain so I could buy the corresponding tyre before starting the race.

I actually put the radar all the way to 50km in the center when it dont rain, then change it if there's darker patch of blue to know when it will rain more and zoom out again when done so I can see when it stop. I did the Tsukuba 1h race yesterday and won it by staying on inter when AI went for rain and slicks.

It's totally stupid. But there are so many stupid things in GT7 that at this point I don't even care anymore. Just saving to buy a good PC and forget about this broken game at least till it gets fully patched, but not holding my breath.

I am confused. You saying its better to have further out or closer in? I have noticed on the small tracks even zoomed right in the track is a tiny little white dot in the middle then on every other setting you can't see the track at all so I don't bother using it.
Is there a way to actually make it usable lol?
Zoom as far out as possible, than you can see the bad weather coming early enough to react...it doesn't matter if you can see the track on the radar, it is right in the middle

I would also say this.
You can see and hear if it's raining in the preview before you go to track, then radar.
Some pre-race indication of expected rain would be nice though.

I will have to try this. I never really understood how the radar thing worked. I thought it was more for if you were driving on a wet part of the track for you to be more cautious.

Is weird, I can only use the two zoom views in the weather map.
If I put the zoom out to the view with a miniature of the map, the weather doesn't see properly, all the map is blue or is empty.
I have to zoom to see the rain clouds

I’ve been shot down a few times for not being a games developer when offering opinions on games development but it seems like they could do with some end users on their team to bring simple QoL issues like this to their attention before they go ahead and do something like release a game
They don't even need end users on their team they just need some good internal UX testing and enough time to react to their feedback. Even if they don't have an internal UX team there are entire outsource studios dedicated to it so they don't have any excuses. Either they did get the feedback and didn't act upon it for whatever reason, or they didn't feel like they needed it. Both of these make for a bad experience, especially during the first few hours of playing.

Definitely the best view. You don't need to see each corner on the radar, you need to see the what comes ahead and adjust your strategy.

I was one of those who used much more zoom on the radar but had some bad decisions on the Le Mans 30 minute race, as the rain arrives always at the same time but the progression is not the same all the time.
Tried the more wide view of the radar and is much more easier to set your strategy throughout the race

Just make sure you buy some wet tyres and you'll be fine. Watch the radar and pay attention to the size, direction and intensity of the system to decide whether or not you should change tyres.

This doesn't work in the 3/4/5 lap Championship races though, where being the only car to make a pit stop kills your race. I've been trying to do the World GT Series (menu book 38 or so) this last few days, and I keep falling short by a handful of points - basically owing to weather in one of the races (usually Spa or CdlS).

If a pre-race forecast is too complicated, surely just letting us know what tyres other cars are starting on would make it a fairer system.

Just did the CdlS race again. Having been caught out by rain on a couple of previous attempts, I decided to start on Sports Mediums in order to try and cope with light rain. It stayed dry and I trundled to a Championship-killing 11th. It's so frustrating!
