Just caught up on the broadcast
Really enjoyed it, seemed to run smoothly, everyone worked well together and the racing (for the most part) was top notch.

That Nations Cup final was something else

Congratulations to all who took part

Congratulation @Doodle & @TRL LIGHTNING on winning the manufacturers cup. You guys managed to not bottle it like I did at the first world tour.
Also great job @Tidgney @ @DrAug to get the Pug to 2nd on a track with so many straights

I like that penalty zone thing that was good. I wish we could get some longer races like that in sport mode. Would be good if they could implement team racing too, as you enter the lobby you get randomly paired or something?
I also would really like driver changes, but I don't think randomly pairing drivers together is a good idea. Entering as a team and then using average DR for matchmaking is a better way to do it. Although I can't see it happening any time soon since lobbies only allow 20 players currently so any team race would only have 10 cars on track which isn't enough.

I watched most of the nations cup coverage today, and what a fantastic event. Genuinely gripping, edge of seat stuff. Slick, fast-paced coverage and decent production values, excellent commentary.

Just such great racing and a great televisual event.

There could have been more info on the actual human drivers in the team events, it was just France this, Hungary that. Ditto the Manufacturers cup.

Other than that though - super great stuff. Cannot wait for the next one.

I hope GT Planet will be doing a full report on this!

I have not long finished the stream, paused for various things includng food, but what a series of absolute scintillating races, so much skill, so much respect, it really showed GTS at its best. Congrats to the UK guys who gave their all (And secured podiums in Manufacturers), Hungary who walked away with the Nations cup, and Nissan who are my favourite manufacturer winning the Manufacturers via TRL_Lightning and Doodles efforts.

My favourite race was the Nations final in the Red Bull x2014 - it was like a Formula E type attempt to set up a new paradigm for racing and for me I could watch a whole season of races like that, so close and so much drama.

Yeah the low downforce setting X2014s were suprisingly absolutely brilliant, unexpected and proves that PDs ludicrous experiments with race formats and lobby settings really do payoff sometimes

They appear to be completely dropping fuel saving which is fantastic - however completely screws me in the Corvette for the World Finals

Great stream, great commentary and fantastic racing by all. Gripping stuff indeed.

I would like more driver info rather than the nation or manufacturers titles in the commentary though.

All in all, great event and congratulations to the UK guys. I was rooting for you :gtpflag:

I am willing to bet that they're only dropping fuel saving for the time being. Now they're getting players accustomed to tire saving and then later they'll put everything together and have both fuel and tire saving for races, like the real thing :ill:

Again, I'll play it safe and keep things in general for now.

I will start by saying we hope we put together a great show on the track for everyone. Some of us are already heading to sleep while others are still at the hangar so updates may come a bit slow.

A few points:

- At least for me, any actual hope to be competitive in a live event requires having my own T-GT. Not one time did I have the same setting, my brake balance was all over the place and I didn't even know what each button did. Not enough time to figure that stuff out, especially against this level of competition.

- Related to above, I want to test stuff back home but I think in the long run, I'd be faster with a T-GT than my G29.

- In retrospect, not being the first stint driver in any race during the event made my initial performance far far worse for... reasons. Save for St Croix. There I did enough.

- Even as a competitor, it's a thrill to watch races from that up close.

- I tried to get a Pug train chant going but no dice.

- The shoes have utterly crushed both my little toes. The downside of having wide feet.

- The x2014 Red Bull car speced for the live event was my personal nightmare experience. Points mentioned earlier only amplified my struggle.

- I somewhat gave Jaguar one last hurrah on the big stage. See earlier point about initial performance but the last few laps at Red Bull Ring was where my driving was approaching a level I would normally achieve at home. To accomplish that is a big win because it means I'm capable of doing it again in Regionals.

There was tonnes of stuff, I'll confirm my suspicions with the brits that were there before saying exactly what they were though
oh boy this is exciting.

Tyre stretch is still opposite from what it should be in that special side-cam.

Must be a bug, there are pictures from 2017 that show the tire stretching in the right direction.

I woke up at 3:53 this morning just by chance, and decided to watch the rest of the stream. A lot of effort has been put in to making the event possible, it was a professional broadcast. The racing was just as intense (if not more) than in real life. Great stuff.

but I think in the long run, I'd be faster with a T-GT than my G29.

Not sure about this in general, because I have both wheels and I can't say that all the various and stronger feedback and therefore more "fighting" with the car leads to beeing faster.

But of course, yes, for sure you're performance will increase in a live event because you simply won't need to get used to it.

I can recomend TGT anyway in general, because one thing is sure, the feedback makes much more fun. I bought mine from ebay for about 60% of original price and it was only few weeks old. I was planing to sell the G29, but somehow I want to keep it even that I'm not using it :)

Btw, what a cool (and hot :) ) woman is Julia Hardy? She definately handeled the show as it should be!

Checking YouTube, seems they had between 40,000 and 50,000 viewers across all the language broadcasts. Don’t know if they streamed on Twitcher or elsewhere but I would imagine YouTube is the top broadcaster.

So anyway I don’t know if that number is low or high but the Nurburgring event had much, much higher viewership numbers.

No. The Toyota was already in the inside and almost at the same position like the Mercedes. The Mercedes didnt notice that toyota was already by his side and therefore tried to close the door way to late.

The german comentators saw it exactly the same way and were pretty surprised that the Toyota got the penalty.

It was the classic don't brake and use the other car to stop you that got the penalty. No sense of humour these judges.

Are you pulling all our legs right now Krypton? That was such a blatant shove that I'm disappointed that it was ONLY a 5 second penalty. I would've given Toyota a 10s for that.

Its what it looked like and what the german comentators described.

But since we can't watch a replay and see the exact situation maybe the truth is somewhere between

Agreed 👍

It was her comment about "dusting off your Thrustmaster" that tickled me!!

Overall a great job done by everyone, some epic racing battles, and to give credit to all the racers, regardless of there performance, it must have been a huge amount of pressure to deal with and still bring you A-game. Well done

Looking forward to the next update, and world tour event.

Even after running into the Mercedes the Toyota still ran really wide so it was definitely their fault, although I wouldn’t go as far to say it was intentional.

Nurburgring was a 2 day event. A factor to consider when talking about viewership.

Unfortunately, I couldn't enjoy the Nations Cup as much as I would've liked because of YT chat being classy as usual. Five users ended up on my block list and several others could've joined them had I not shown leniency to 'mild' stupidity and only blocked the worst offenders. The worst was the guy who continued to complain about how grid positions were determined, after being repeatedly told that qualifying happened before the stream. Though the one that was being racist towards Brazilians ran a close second.

Gran Turismo definitely needs to hire some moderators for their stream chat. I want to be able to chat during these streams because it's part of the fun, but this was one of the worst live chats I've been in. Things settled down in time for the Manufacturers, but the whole ordeal left me feeling quite bitter.

Just watch these events full screen without chat mate, you won't be missing anything, YouTube and Twitch chat only really have a place to me when the streamer is using that chat to interact with viewers, without that two-sided communication its much more fun just to pretend chat doesn't exist, especially when the broadcast is handled as professionally as this one was :)
