So just to make the problem clear: It's about the definition of racing surface or track:

1) You can either define the kerbs as part of the track or not. If they are part of the track, then it would be fine.

2) I myself prefer the definition of the white lines being the boundary and the kerbs are off track.

We are using the definition 2) here as we lean a bit on FGTA regulations in this series. I will prepare some pictures at the relevant spots of Spa and post them tonight so that everybody knows where the track limits are.

Now, everybody goes wide once in a while so that is not a problem. It would be a problem, and thus penalized, if you do it to gain or defend a position or do it consistently.

Is that about right @CodDemon101?

Yeah but what I do is considered clean from the GTP OLR and this is why I try to defend myself.
I agree with you if they dont mention it well enough if they even mention it then you should not be penalized. Where do you find it in the GTP OLR?

Exactly to cut to gain time or positions is not allowed. Now lets say you brake late into a chicane and you have to use the next kerb a bit more not to lose that much time it is fine

Points 1 and 2 can be sum up with this rule I think:

Two tires must remain in contact with the tarmac racing surface at all times and within white-line course boundaries. The preceding defines the "track." Curbing/rumble strips, hard surfaces beyond white lines such as concrete, "greencrete", or turf and other run off is not considered to be track. White lines are track and even if you only have two tires on their very edges on the white line (to be reviewed and confirmed by as steward) it will be considered clean.

Yep, exactly.

It's great to see that you guys can be quickly agree with me here. At least, you, you understand me. Which is not the case of guys I race with in the Clio series. Plus I think they don't understand english very cause the guy (SmileyWRX) who is against my argues since the beginning said this:
"Two wheels (except when airborne, where the vertical projection of the car onto the track counts) must be in contact with the track/circuit which includes the rumble strips and footpaths, but not grassed areas." And this is a good argue for me actually, not for him. lol

Where in OLR do you see this? In my opinion that looks like corner cutting or taking too much kerb from how I understand it.

While a bit vague, OLR 1:J suggests that the boundaries of the track are the white lines.

Then for more guidance I would look to section 16, as even though it is for offline racing I would think track limits are the same online and offline.

Section 16:E provides the clearest picture of what is and is not the track.

However I could see how Section 16:G could make this more confusing as it almost appears to go against 16:E.

This is the first time I've looked at OLR for a while, and it seems way more ambiguous than when I first read it. So I think your case is just a mis-understanding of what the organizers determined track limits to be, however as I've always understood it, the kerb is not considered part of the racing surface

Track boundary limits vary from series to series. But in my eyes, and like has been mentioned, all FGTA series use the white line as the limiting factor. Curbs are outside of the line, therefore not part of legal 'track'.

The white line is there to show the track boundary, any series / event which count's curbs as part of the track gets a 👎 from me.

EDIT

But in reference to this case, Litchi I believe you are right and should not be penalised. If they said they follow the OLR, and didn't state that curbs are not considered as part of the track until after the incident happened, they can't penalise you for it.

Huh i missed that when I was reading (allergies are killing me) haha, but hmm fair point, I have never seen it enforced that way but very fair point

Also speaking of rules, I was looking but couldn't find it, is there a minimum number of laps that we need to run on the mediums?

They just posted this before the Qualifier. But there's nothing in this post saying that rumbles strips are considered off-track. So I just followed the GTP OLR.

No just start on mediums

So it was, I never bothered to check driving aids! Anyway, TCS slows you down so my point about CS being close is still valid.

And here is a new video, without TCS. Its a scruffy lap and still plenty of time to gain, so CM is now the new tyre, possibly even CH.

I can't understand why people have to put comfort hards, comfort mediums or comfort softs on race cars. Crazy man. :)

Ok guys, here is the seat I found for my set up... Any guesses what model this is from?

I will clean it up :P

Nice Charlie :)

Mine is a driver's side captains chair with fold down arms from a 1989 Chevy Astro Van. Has the base that it was bolted to and all the adjustments still work. :)

Question for the stewards
images

would this line, the F1 car is taking, be considered illegal. If he were to go straight he would some what cut the corner without actually crossing over the line. Since the "curb" at the top of the hill is just a huge painting of a curb. Is it illegal to completely run over that curb yet not crossing the track's boundary line?

Let's see what the stewards say but usually that is viewed as a kerb so two wheels to the inside is okay more than that is cutting because the white line is outside of the kerb no?
