FIA GT1 & GT2 World Championship | Pending!

Dang! I like all the tracks you have picked! There wonderful. Did GTracer38 quit? I play online with him all the time and didn't know he was running the series. Maybe he won't leave if he knows I have joined.

KUB, Andy:

Just wanted to say a few things post-race. Firstly, that this was my first time in an organized series, and I wasn't familiar with some of the protocol. I guess I was used to the mindless AI drones the computer offers. This doesn't justify my using the Viper as a battering ram however and for that, I apologize again. I think it was ALThurston who knocked me late in race two then slowed to allow me to regain my place, like KUB mentioned in his post (and did in the race). So thanks Thuorston for that and everyone else for the patience.

KUB: despite the rough start, that was some of the most fun I've had playing GT in months. And despite what anyone else said, it was some fine driving. I look forward to battling for at LEAST third over the next few weeks.

Finally, Andy: speaking of fine driving, you and Doc were untouchable. At times it actually felt like the time difference was equivalent to our time zone difference (five hours). So kudos, but more importantly, howyougosofast?! I found the difference between the spec II ford and the viper was two seconds a lap, even with the limitations, so I switched. I don't have the BMW mclaren or that zonda, so I can't test, but is it that significant a difference? I think I confused toe angle with camber, but does your camber angle make that significant a difference? Do I just stink?! Thanks again. Maybe we will get lucky and have this turn into another series. Good fun.

haha, i love how i got 1 point even though i didn't race XD anyway, sounds like you lot had a great time :D hopefully i'll be able to stay connected next time, lol.

catlady1000. don't worry mate, I said I'm fine same as I was fine during was and after the race, it's normal, you will always get racing incidents or someone missing the breaking point.

Same here, I've had a great fun, good old times when we've had a league very similar to this one on other website, and funny thing, no matter what opponents I was racing with, I was always coming 3rd ;)

I've raced with Andy couple of times, F1 and GT5 through other website, and he is very quick, very quick, same as doc555evosti.

Its not a secret that if you want to be quick you will have to match 3 things: Setup -> Driving Skills (cornering speed etc.) -> Consistency.

Even if this time I managed to get the Setup actually working for me, especially bigger camber on the front which helped me with very good tracking and higher speed through the corners + anto roll bars and suspension tweaks, I usually struggle in GT5 with setups.

My skills are actually good or even very good, but not amazing, and thats where the consistency plays a big role where I'm quiet good.

I dont really go for overtakes when I'm not sure, as this may ruined mine and your race as well, I would rather wait few more corners until I get the spot for a clear overtake.

My biggest challenge in this league will be a tyre strategy. Because of the car choice and me being a bit hard on tyres, I can't see any other scenario for my self than 2 pit stopo strategy for each race, soft soft hard. So that will put me even up to 30sec behind in each race because of that extra stop, but you know what...bring it on :)

Did a quick test run with league setting yesterday at Daytona, and so far my first times are around very low 1.41 in a race.

Did you tried connecting via cable and have wireless off ???

Shame you couldn't stay connected mate, real shame.

Also, just for a fun (even if it isn't really fun ;) , let us know if you using a WHEEL or a PAD.

KUB,

thanks for the reply. I'm using a pad. Also, I just saw on another forum that the LM Spec II comes from winning A-spec>Extreme>Dream Car Series. I have it, but I don't remember where I won it. Hope that helps. I'll be trying a new setup tonight, and seeing how close I can come to 1:41

Thanks for that.
I found same info about the car on You Tube. I started doing this Championship before I went back to the office and so far I did Daytona and Monza in the rain, great great race, like wet conditions.

In regards to the time I posted, the 1.41, I'm sure that can be trimmed to at least 1.39 or even 1.38 with Zonda or Jaguar maybe.

Hey no problems. I agree wasnt super smooth but Im glad that we had 9/10 people showing up, a strong number. Also Nurb is a very tiny track and places to overtake, so I knew there was going to be contact.

Also first time, you did very well 👍 Keep it up
Also Ive found each car has its own strengths. The Corvette has good straight line speed, the Nissan quick around corners, and the Viper is a good car too. If it helps, go online and search for car setups for it. If you cant find any, PM me and i'll get you one 👍 Goes out to anyone needing a setup, just ask and I'll try and help

And im quick because Im a sad person who plays way to much GT5 :sly:

You got the point because you showed up for Race 1 :) Thought Id be nice :sly: Next time just turn the Wifi off for around 5 mins, then start up 👍 See you on the track!

I think Ford GT well be stronger at home :sly: And if you need a setup, just look online or ask me :) Always here to help, and if creates closer racing then even better 👍 Thanks for the nice things you said about me too :)

Also guys no one should be changing cars, unless I agree and you have a good enough reason. 👍 A_L is changing because he was in a basic car for Nurb
If you want to change cars, please message me before the next race.

You cant change to a different car for each race, you should stick to the car for the season :)

Yeah saddo! PMSL:P;)

Well...I'm going to stick with my GT, it's difficulty to control, but the sound it makes and way it looks is just superb. Never thought about changing the car any way, all I meant was that people with Zondas or Jags will be able to trimmed that time by a lot.

1.5 hour ago I came back from office where I was thinking a lot about the setup ;) for this track, came back home and got straight after dinner on GT5.
With new setup I managed to extend life of soft tyres by additional 2 laps !!!!! (when compared to previous 'good' setup)

Which means that the hard compound is lasting longer as well, therefore I can do 12laps on one set of softs and one set of hards with the same amount of grip what on previous setup with 2 sets of softs.

On top of it car feels much better now after lots of changes and even I managed to improve straight away my fastest race lap times to 1.40.xxx (1.40.365 the fastest one)

If you keep going faster, your going to be the one too beat :scared: Glad your enjoying GT5 again 👍

nitrorocks
The Audi R8 LMS isn't on the list. May I run it? Undecided the Mclaren isn't for me

You can If you want
A problem is it's heavier than the others. Good speed but slower in corners :) you can run it if you want

If that's the one
Abt_r8_lms_24h.jpg

then I'm sure you can and Andy would not have a problem with as AL Thurston was using it in first two races and decided to change it to something else as its not for him ;)

Edit:

Thanks Andy ;) but I'm not so sure about it, two reasons: one are my skills and second one the car.
YES, I managed to gained extra 30sec at least for next weekend by cutting the amount of pit stops down from 2 to 1, but still I would be very happy with a top 3 finish.

PS
You know my car? Ford GT LM Race Car Test Car (P)
some one said on Sunday after the race that Ford GT LM Race Car Spec II (S) is better than what I drive at the minute, is that true as the specs and everything else apart the colour seems to be exactly the same ????
Could some one confirm that?

Edit 2:
And a quick question about Race 9 & 10) Spa - 8 Laps (If people don't have it when can swap it for another track) 05/02/2012

Some one said one day that if we haven't got the track than thats fine as long the race host has it then we are all fine to race there.
I haven't got it, but I simply love this track and would be a real shame not to race there.

Gentlemen, this thread has suffered from double posts enough now.
When you want to add something to your post shortly after you just posted and while nobody else has posted yet, use the 'EDIT' button.

Double Posting (#)

“Double posting” occurs when a user makes two consecutive posts, one after another. If this is done for no apparent reason, or if the posts are unimportant, “double posting” is looked down upon and may result in a warning or infraction for “spam”. You can edit any of your forum posts on GTPlanet at any time, and this is generally the best option to take if you have more to add to the discussion. However, it is not expressly forbidden, and can be useful in many cases. For example, if a reasonable amount of time has passed or you have significant information to add to the topic, present it in a new post so that others, including thread subscribers, are made aware of the update.

Sorry mate, I didn't meant anything by doing that. I've joined that forum very recently and for only one reason, this league as I know Andy other online racing website which is a small community and no one never picked on that whet when something like that happened.
It was simply thought after a thought.
I did realised that you can edit your post at any time, by I haven't really thought about it in this case.
I'm sure its not going to shock you, but I haven't read T&C and I wasn't going to, not being rude or anything like that, I just don't, therefore please accept my apologies as it was simply my fault.
All the best ;)

Yes but tbh we've only done it a couple of times so i don't see the problem. I had lots of messages and was in the rush so i forgot to use the edit so i won't get annoyed.

Kub - i believe the two fords are very close . The test car is 15kg heavier but i can't notice a difference. :) if you get the other ford you can try it and if you like it you could swap :) and yes audi r8 is allowed :)

KUB, I have the Spec II and really had trouble with it. You mentioned having some trouble with the test car (control-wise), but that really doesn't seem to be slowing you down very much. I'm hoping to trim down my lap times tonight--I was happy last night with a low 1:41. Seems now I have a lot of work to do. If we're getting these times, what does that mean for Andy/Doc555 - - 1:19, 1:20? huh boy.

You also mentioned having previously raced with Andy--even some F1. Would you guys be interested in doing another series after the GT3? I know it's a ways out, but maybe we could keep Sundays and a similar set-up (low lap numbers, 10 + racers [if possible], etc.)? Maybe even teams.

I meant to add to that-- F1. Which is why the teams would be great.

Relpy to your times, I havent started yet

Also your ideas. I have started planning for another series after this and was hoping to use to add teams into it. I was thinking of using less cars, and have 2/3 people on each team, using only a selected few cars, the fastest ones, and then doing it like that. It depends on how many people join. If theres 16 people, I'd probably have 1 team of 4 people, and then 4 teams of 3 people. Then only take the top 3 drivers out of the 4 team points for the constructors.
So it would be like:
3 Drivers - Team Car A
3 Drivers - Team Car B
3 Drivers - Team Car C
3 Drivers - Team Car D
4 Drivers - TEAM Car E

If theres only 12 drivers, I'd have 2 per car, so then there be 6 teams with 2 drivers :) Lots of ideas

I was hoping to keep it going after this series, and develop it more, but I have to wait and see if it becomes popular :) Thanks for the interest though mate 👍

Absolutely--it sounds good. Keep me posted.

If you do some laps at Daytona tonight, try to keep it in the 1:30's.

Please feel free to share any ideas you have for the league mate, will help make it stronger and better 👍

And I'll stop at the start line for about 10 seconds then :sly:

Right guys this event is being paused. Theres a bug, and its ruining online playing. People get disconnected, some people have a speed boost, others with more/less grip. Its just ruining the racing. We shall start the series again when theres an update but at the moment we will not be racing this weekend. You may think just do it, its soo annoying when you keep getting disconnected and your wifi is good. The bug can happen with anyone and is growing, its getting worse and if we contiune racing its going to ruin the series. Sorry guys but it is very annoying, had it in other leagues and the best thing to wait it out. There might be an update next week on wednesday (maybe) or the end of the month but we dont know for sure.

Anyway, Im sorry guys 👎 I'll send PSN messages too
