FIA GT3: The present of GT racing, the future of GT6?

If they're adding FIA race cars, they should also add in the newest WRC cars and hopefully some more realistic tracks.
No, they're adding Mercs, Nissans, BMWs and Audis built to FIA GT3 technical specifications. The rights to these cars belong entirely to the manufacturers, and the rights to their liveries (the Nissan and Audi) belong to their teams and/or their series.

The FIA also doesn't own the tracks their sanctioned race series race on, so even if PD had an "FIA license", it wouldn't be worth much in terms of tracks.

Not that I mind bumping this thread or anything, I would like to see this conversation continue a bit. And I would like a little quick and easy knowledge laid on me because the internets are just a bit too cluttered to easily find a Dummy's Guide to Racing. :P

So, I'm contemplating the potential of GT6 league creation, and hoping Kaz blesses us with a Livery Editor to really kick that into gear. And in the meantime, I'm fussing around with Forza 4's Livery Editor because the thing is just too hip for words. And I have several cars up on my virtual garage blocks, but am a little unsure of just how to work the little monsters to be somewhat historically relevant. I know that in fantasy racing, anything goes, but I was wondering what some of you motorsports scholars would suggest for a number of cars as far as leagues, racing classes and all that. And any history as far as real world racing they were a part of would be great too. I have tons of images from a number of these guys and their relatives, but I'm drowning in racing trivia. Anyhow, the cars:

BMW M1, M3, M5, 850i among others
Ferrari F355 and Challenge, F40, F50, 599, Italia, etc
Ford Ford GT, Saleen S7
Hyundai Genesis
Koenigsegg Anything
Lamborghini Diablo, Gallardo, others
Lotus Esprit, Carlton
Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4
NISSAN 240 SX, 300 ZX
Toyota Supra Mk III and IV other than JGTC/Super GT, Celicas
TVR 350C, Sagaris, Speed 12

I wish they still had the Spirra.

Yeah, I don't ask for much, and I'm sure I'm leaving a few out. And if anyone has any helpful links, or cars to suggest, I'd be much obliged. One last edit, let he hasten to add that I'm looking for suggestions for anything and everything as far as leagues and classes. FIA GT3, WTCC, BTCC, ALMS, SCCA, whatever. I have a bunch of decals whipped up or bought for almost everything.

What about Ascari? I mean, if PD is able to get the Ascari track into GT6, would it be possible to have a GT3 spec Ascari KZ1 R in GT6 as well?

Two things!!

#1: Tenacious D. Count me in as a competitor in the league u create!!

#2: when in the hell are we gonna see this GT3 car from Bentley run???

Thank you for mentioning them. Forza has so many cars in it that I never know how many are racing relevant. Great pic too. Now I have to look for Ascari liveries though... :P

I'm hoping that the serious motorsports guys don't see their thread "derailed" by my post. Considering we likely won't get every car suitable for all these racing leagues, let alone FIA GT3, plus people having their personal faves as I do, it's inevitable that some off-league cars would be included in online league racing. Properly homologated of course.

As for your first point, I doubt that I'm personally going to be creating any online leagues, as I'm sure there will be tons to chose from. Hopefully there will be a big list of them here at GT Planet, and some organization as with a proper league.

But that does make me ponder it in the context of my livery experiments in Forza 4. I think I will see about redoing these guys in the prospect of something sort of real world and sort of alternate reality of it, and see what I come up with. And what you guys think.

Whew... day's almost over, so I'd better get going on this.

Maybe, if they bring back proper racing modification from the old days, you can take a dealership SLS, Gallardo, RUF, GT-R, Vantage, or, within reason, any car and RM it to FIA GT3 spec. Wishful thinking I know. But it'd be nice.

It would be. I'm not too particular about the exact specs - SuperGT 300, GTE, GT3/4, etc - to be honest. They're all pretty much a hoot :)

Does the Alpina B4 GT3 still race? Maybe its just me going off the Blancpain Endurance Series and Fia GT, but I don't see it or the Ascari KZ1-R. Even Ford GT3 has rarely been seen, maybe once or twice last year from what I saw.

The Alpina doesn't race anymore, neither does the Ascari I believe. The Camaro is only used in Austrian GT this year as well.

The Ford GT is still active in it's two forms. Old Matech cars still race in FIA GT and VLN and the new Lambda Ford GT is racing (and winning) in GT Masters.

The Alpina B6 just finished it's final season last year in the GT Masters. Alpina claimed that they would continue to support customer cars, but that could just be a shoddy google translation. The Ascari finished up a few years before that, I think '10 might've been the last year they raced competitively, and that was mostly in regional GT racing like the Masters.

Shame to hear the Camaro didn't catch on, but it's not exactly surprising considering the two Mustangs that came before it were short-lived as well.

Only a few very obscure GT3 cars were left off due to lack of source material. Otherwise, this should pretty much be the list of International and Regional GT3 cars both new and old.

Good one. 👍

To continue with Tenacious D's reveries, there has just been an article in Racecar Engineering about an LF-A GTE-version that never was. Would have liked a GT3 of that one.

Alfa 8C and Lotus Evora would also be candidates for a fictional GT3 version.

Marc VDS Mustang.

Also, what's the orange car next to the Jag?

Let's be honest, not even a 5th of these will be in the game, this is Gran Turismo we're talking about.

In regards to GT3 being the future of GT racing in GT6, I don't think so, remember Polyphony are Japenese, they'll naturally always sway towards SuperGT which I don't mind because the GT3 cars are fairly slow and easier to drive compared to GT500. I tend to prefer the faster cars with greater difficulty, but that's just me.

Oh god please. Now that we know the base model made the cut, THERE'S NO EXCUSE :dunce:

Although the GT3 car with that livery would be much better but meh, beggars can't be choosers.

There is = it's only just been announced.

Actually, I've heard from another thread that PD was scanning 2 Aston Martin Young Drivers AMR Race Car and the Fischer Ford GT race car. So, there could be a chance of at least 2 more GT3 cars showing up in GT6.

And that's equally good news as there's a heap of GT300 cars close enough to GT3 spec. Either way a good thing.
