Well, I have to resurrect this thread now; http://www.eurosport.com/home/pages/v4/l0/s25/sport_lng0_spo25_sto800480.shtml , as FIA now have concluded to induce a few(!) changes as of 2008. That is the year I will stop following the F1 circus, I´ll tell you that! I really, really hope the breakeaway series come true!

Now that FIA are certain about what some of the changes will be, how will you react? What do you think will happen to F1 as of 2008? Do we need the breakeaway series? Is it time for us, the fans, to to put our foot down, and tell FIA what we think they are doing to F1?

I bet you $100 that one of those in particular is cancelled (1 tire manafacturer). I think that rule was made just to spite Michelin (watch they try to do it in WRC also. That's going to be a lawsuit of the ages) But really, who are these rules trying to protect? There are no Minardis/Saubers/Jordans of the past, only big name, big money teams. Is this preparing for the oft-rumored tobacco ban? And do they really think that just making them use an FIA ECU will get rid of electronic aids? It didn't stop them before. And is there any point at all to implementing rev limiters?! Just wait until Formula 1 tanks. At least this years rule changes were good ones.

Totally agrred! The only change for 2007 as of yet, that I actually look forward to, is the rearwing change.

I do not think tha tobaccoban is the cause of all this, I think FIA wants a bigger say in how the sport is run, and they are actually obeying what some drivers state; the F1 cars are simply too fast, and they want better security. I think that is the bottomline, security. But Man, there has to other ways than this! Standard equipment really blows in F1! The only good rule stated in that list is something I have thought of myself. If FIA want to cut costs, ban all aerodynamic upgrades during the season. The car you enter for the first race, can look no different for the last. That would save the teams alot of testing and development, and it would also make the wintertesting all the more important. It would also mean that in season testing could be limited to engines, suspension and tyres.
