StarLight Garage would like to see this little rocket coming to GT6 or GT7 as a "base model" racing car, the Fiat-Abarth Formula Libre Car from 1972.
Such a lovely car to take out for a spin on the track ... Nürburgring?
Anyway an unique car from the seventies.

The Fiat-Abarth Formula Libre race car is certainly not an expensive track at all, with an estimated price tag between 12.000 and let's say 20.000 euros.
This car is very entertaining, especially during hill climb events, and Formula Libre racing or just for fun during a track day at Nürburgring or Spa-Franchorchamps.

This little Italian rocket is developed by Mario Colucci as a single-seat racer and derived from his Formula Italia concept. Mario equipped his car with a large Fiat 124 Rallye Spider 4-cylinder 1756 cc engine, in a higher state of tune than as a rally configuration. All this produced a massive 170 hp at 6.200 rpm.

Like as in the Formula Italia SE025 cars, the Fiat-Abarth Formula Libre chassis got a Lancia Fulvia five-speed transaxle gearbox installed.
What makes this car so unique?
Well let's start with his front and rear wings, as far as I know it's the only car from this series that ever was assembled with such wings. Further the car has stronger suspension components to withstand the aerodynamic downforce produced by these wings, uprights, bigger wheels and tyres.

For those who are unfamiliar with the Formula Libre class, it’s mainly an open racing formula for a huge variety of cars with the only restrictions usually being safety related.
The series is ideal for specifications series cars that have been adapted, as well as hill climb cars or specials ... anyway, anything else you think it might go fast.

An unknown beautiful Abarth to me until today. I agree that this car would be awesome in game free to paint it in any color.

I would rather have more single seaters without wings - to me that is the golden era of racing when grip was purely mechanical not aerodynamic and drivers had to master the four wheeled drift to make fast times on track. We could have Formula Italia, Formula Vee or Formula Ford. In an interview with Tiff Needell, I heard him say how drivers used to learn their craft in these cars as adults before entering F1 at a later age than today's generation who start as children in Karts.

Below 1963 Formula Vee - still running the original Beetle wheels!
